"If you feel people might think this is a little weird, you are doing something." I needed to hear that after getting told by my mother that I dressed weirdly whenever I put on clothes that made me feel confident.
I know she judges me my heart was broken.Bc she says like its not fit for the season its not like that it doesn’t suit you some people might think your wierd bc of your outfit etc.
a small piece of advice I realised I needed to keep in mind myself (especially bc im plus size) is that when you see an outfit you like, rather than going to replicate it or take inspiration from it, consider if you like it for yourself or you just enjoy how the person wearing it looks lmao idk if that makes sense and it took me a while to realise but im glad I did reading this back I just wanted to say: don’t shy away from outfits because of your body !! being plus size means I regularly buy wrongly size-labelled clothing, not that I cant wear things because of how it would look !!
Yep! It makes absolute sense! When I shop with my fam, if my sister shows me a shirt or skirt I always say thinks like “oh yeah I like how this looks on you” (or would look on you) or like if my mom offers me a piece that she finds pretty but I don’t think would fit me I just go like “this is so pretty, but I don’t like it for me/ I don’t think it’ll look good on me.” That being said!: I think is very important to also listen to how we feel in that outfit. I know a LOT of the things I wear are probably not very flattering to my shape, but I feel so comfortable in them. Some of my outfits make me feel cool, cute, or confident. Because the clothes I wear makes me feel like that I think I always end up give that impression to people. So that’s very important too, if you like it and it makes you feel good than use it.
I never thought of adding fun shorts under a skirt/dress! I always use plain black/white spandex shorts or try to coordinate them to the dress/skirt but that's such a nice detail to have, I'm glad you brought that up. I'll have to try it!
one thing i've noticed once i reached university is that while i thought i had a nice enough style, i wasn't dressing like i wanted to or in a way that felt genuine to me, so this is perfect! i'm really trying to find my own style without worrying about what others might think and i've never been happier with the way i dress
Gigi you should do a Morning Routine or a video on how to get out of a slump or things like that because I have been in a slump for like a week, I keep procrastinating but anyway love your videos so much
hi!! for me to get out of a slump i like to take the pressure off with a chill day where i spend money for myself (so like getting boba or ice cream), then having a pretty day & doing things that i find aesthetic which cam be baking or crocheting/knitting and then watching my comfort show! hope this helps
As a young adult who never had a lot of clothes and is trying to build her style, this video was super helpful! You should make a video on where you get your clothes, I love your vibes ✨️
Yes to the ‘if people might think it’s weird you’re doing something right’ comment!!! I used to be wear super basic stuff because I didn’t want to look weird’. About two years ago I just kinda came to the realization that all fashion is a little ugly and I just kept repeating that to myself whenever I went outside my comfort zone and it’s done wonders for my confidence, 10/10.
Big fan of everyone saying to replace boring basics with xyz- SO tired of people telling me to wear neutrals and basics! You rock! Keep it up!! My style is very different from yours, but these are transferable skills 🔥
this is actually really great advice. considering we have super different styles, it's really great for me personally that you were so focused on the formulation rather than just telling us what to wear. thanks!!
This literally helped so much!! Not only is your style absolutely STUNNING and so unique to you but you provided such good insight about how we can replicate that sort of uniqueness in our lives! I've always struggled to find what I want to wear and this helped so much in discovering what pieces and outfit combos make me feel as happy as you seem to put an outfit together :) Also, do you mind me asking what brand that last mini dress is from?! I absolutely LOVE it!
@@destinijarvis9524 You see this is where my comment got kind of misinterpreted. Because it's obvious if I directly copy Gigi it's not unique. I'm not saying that I want to replicate her style or anything despite her style being a combination of the cottagecore aesthetic which anyone can wear and is not particular to a single person (and the type of aesthetic I like) but what I'm saying is the way that Gigi is so confident in what specific types of materials and staples she always or frequently includes in her outfits (e.g. scarves and sunglasses) is what I want to replicate in my own personal style. I don't necessarily want to copy what she wears, such as scarves, only because she uses them as I am not a huge fan of scarves (and personally don't have any) but I just want to add personal touches and that sort of continuity to my personal style that will henceforth make it unique to me. For example, I am very into headbands, and that sort of floral headpiece that I always wear and is what I am referring to replicating the uniqueness of my outfits. I have a huge collection of headbands and it's something that my friends and peers have always said is very "me" which is what I want every time I put together an outfit and is what I mean by uniqueness and finding my own style. Not being scared to try new things or wearing the same things with different combinations of clothing. I am also referring to the combination of clothing. Like how I always combine certain patterns and prints or colors together, (e.g green and pink and pastels with gingham or florals).
that last dress is super pretty, it's something that i would definitely wear but not in white or at least not such stark white. all the outfits were really cute and i liked your tips. i think that at the end of the day finding your style it's about taking risks and giving a fuck about other people's opinions.
This so funny, I am more on the monochrome/grunge spectre of things, so I didn’t expect to like your outfits so much, haha! I especially love the way you style skirts and dresses! Gonna attempt something similar today, thought I don’t really have paste florals, but thank you for the inspo! ❤️
this is actually a pretty good idea for artists, like i never now what clothes put on my oc's. im gonna try to follow this hack to be more creative and make then look better, thanks. (forgive me if i tell something wrong, im leaning English ^ ^)
Tbh I do not have enough money to have a unique style like this but this video just helps me think about all the characters I could draw with their own styles and outfits
Ik this is late but your English is amazing! As a little bit of constructive criticism, you should say ‘say’ instead of ‘tell’ in the last sentence, it just flows a bit better. Keep up the good work with the English and OCs!
@@Terancethewitch i think that dont really exist a unique style cause we always will be inspired by others artists. so you can use this video, some artist inspiration and a little bit of your "vibe" or something on the draw. works for me
I would probably also add the process of how you got your clothes! For me, I donate the ones I don't wear/feel confident in, and when thrifting I look for anything I WILL wear and feel good in, even if it doesn't line up with a certain "look" I'm going for. I encourage donating if you can and getting secondhand clothes since it is more environmentally friendly :) Hope whoever read this has a good day!
So glad this video was in my recommended! I only recently discovered how much accessories really elevate an outfit, and I've been looking for new ways to incorporate them! This is honestly so helpful, and your style is amazing !!
yesterday i was thinking about reasons why we would wear certain clothes, sometimes it is to impress other people (which isn't good tbh) and so it was so so nice to watch this video and see that you genuinely wear your style just for yourself¬ and how you make building outfits a fun way to spend time with yourself (idk if that makes sense but i hope so?) the thing you said towards the end was really cool about adding things to outfits that become a part of "my style" :)

The advice in this video is great! I would like to add one thing though, sometimes simple goes along way. Like just because a outfit seems simple doesn't mean its not personal. Sometimes your "Style" can be very simple and it doesn't make you basic! Its about being true to yourself.
I so need to agree with ur opinion about the dress - like really i prefer to spend more money on a vintage piece than a fast fashion one, i realised that the vintage pieces I own are also more used by me than the fast fashion ones so I really recommend everyone to just find ur style and find some vintages goodies- my fave one form my closet is my black long velouredress that's 40 years old and the vibe and looks of this dress speaks for itself
this is the first video I’m watching of you, but when I saw you talk about the hansa hand and say how it isn’t an aesthetic or trend boosted my respect immediately! I’m middle eastern and evil eyes are a huge part of my culture but everyone is making it a trendy to wear and it’s upsetting because I wear it for protection. i love your style btw it’s so cute!
I love this so much!! I've been in a styling funk lately and feel like I'm wearing the same boring outfits and losing my sense of "me" in my outfits. I'm bringing back my signature color (lavender) and accessories so I hope it'll inspire me to make more creative outfits again!
