    Awesome vid mate, I went to a scrappy today and bought a used relay for three quid and swapped it out of a saxo to put in my 106 and fixed my rear heated window, I never would’ve even tried to fix it if it wasn’t for watching your videos, thanks mate

    Hi, Love your videos, quite like your boost gauge install . Standard boost for your ST is about 18 to 22 psi (although depending on where your boost gauge is fitted there is a pressure drop across the intercooler) on over boost could do 28psi. Can I just ask, did you look into the correct power steering fluid yet? I did leave a message on your last video. Keep up the good videos.

    Interesting job. I'd recommend using Scotchlocks to splice into vehicle wiring. They sell them at halfords as well as ebay and they give a reliable connection even in engine bays. When you had completed the siting of your new gauge I was disappointed at the silver case showing in the vent blades. To make it even slicker can you spray the back of it black ?

  • @deet5072

    Diesels boost to about 15psi or around 1.5 bar. On the 1.6 tdci it has overboost which will push it up to 2bar.
    15 is perfectly normal, it's not necessary mapped, petrols have a lot less boost than diesels. I made a custom job for my old 1.6 tdci. Loved it.

    forgot 1 other thing, when you floor the ST it will make 'Transient Overboost', so you can cane it really fast. Just google 'Transient overboost' and modeo ST, it was a big feature of the car.

  • @keithavian8129
    @keithavian8129 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Theres a resonator in the alloy pipes between turbo and intercooler. Usually above gearbox, remove that if hasn't been done already and you'll get sharper throttle response and less turbo lag

  • @TheFakeRussian

    Nice video :)
    Battery: I think your boost pack needs charging :) Once batteries start doing that you need to replace them, the cells are starting to collapse and it shouldn't flatten the battery with the interior lights on for a few hours as they're low wattage.
    Mind you, they should automatically turn off after about 5 mins anyway to save battery drain. Also, running a flat battery will put a very low level draw from the battery itself which is why your alternator will start putting out 14.4v. Running the main lights and charging the battery at the same time does strain alternators.

  • @Zadster
    @Zadster 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    New battery time I'm afraid. Always seems to happen when the cold weather arrives, batteries that were fine in warm weather show up their reduced capacity. It'll seem fine for a few days and you dismiss it as a 1-off because you were using the heated seats + quickclear windscreen + cabin blower+headlamps etc, then one evening you are in the supermarket car park to come home and... *click*. Yeah, best keep the booster battery in the boot. Don't get a battery from Halfords though, get one from a proper motor factors. They almost all serve the public, sell proper warrantied gear and do it at half the high street price.

    Have a quick check in your Haynes manual it should tell you your max boost in there. It does for my Kangoo van 2004 which is 1300 millibars which is just under 19 psi although the manual is for a Clio as they don't do one for a Kangoo but its the same engine. So I would have thought your boost would be quite a bit higher. All the best and keep them coming.

    Only ever had a boost gauge on petrol turbos, but all read negative -psi/bar due to inlet vacuum on idle and when the turbo is spooling and spooled reads positive boost, i see you gauge doesn’t drop into negative, is it reading true or is it due to running the vacuum from the egr delete instead of between the turbo and inlet manifold?

    • @mr.airgun6921

  • @mikemurdia8128
    @mikemurdia8128 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks awesome. Great video. But.. 15psi isn't that much boost for a diesel, I think it could handle much more if ya know what I mean. For example, in my daily Lancia Lybra 1.9jtd im running 1.6bars of boost which is roughly 25psi and it holds it like a champ. Obviously I have a bigger aftermarket intercooler, but since you already have that, it should not be a problem at all. 159kw and 491nm of torque. Is the result of that remapping. For a daily driven 1.9jtd not bad. so yours will handle more boost without a problem.
