I have a plain old apartment refrigerator. But, what I’ve done to update it is to source an order an extra shelf that fits my model fridge. I’ve installed the shelf and put 3 refrigerator organizers on that shelf that have a short height. I use the 2 larger organizers to store meats and cheeses separately and I use the narrower one in the middle to store salad dressing packs. I do realize, however, that refrigerator organizers are both blessing and curse. They’re a blessing when you stick to buying staples that fit them and they’re a curse when you deviate from that.
Don't they go off quicker though? I would have though that, for example, onion will last longer if it is whole. Some foods will tarnish on the cut sides as well quite quickly. I always cling film the edge of cucumbers for this reason.
She said the coldest is the bottom, I think only if it's a bottom freezer fridge. We have the top freezer kind and the top shelf gets so cold cause it's right underneath the vent where the cold blows out, sometime it becomes so cold it freezes meat that were not even frozen when I put it in.
you are correct joanne, on top freezers, the cold air is made in the freezer and blown into the fridge below. the top is always the coldest, then goes down a couple degrees each shelf as you go down, thats why the fruit and veggies is stored in the bottom because it's the warmest down there, not to freeze your veggies. the door is also as warm as the bottom veggie drawers, and milk shouldnt be stored in the door for that reason because it will expire sooner than the expiration date, unless you go through it really fast ( i know some who can go thru a gallon a day, and in that case it obviously doesnt matter if it's in the door)
+Sally Ayumi If you love Sara Lynn's tips for organization, you'll probably also love her ideas for entertaining at home! Check out her series "How to Host" on The Design Network at www.thedesignnetwork.com/series/how-to-host/
You're awesome! I'm quite organizationally challenged, so I really appreciate your wisdom. The condiments all together like that are GENIUS! My husband just puts everything back on the top shelf even though I tell him the little mustard and relish containers go n the door! We will definitely be using your tips as we are getting a new fridge in a few days!
we use a milk crate to hold all the vegetables that we commonly use making salads ...that way we can quickly transport all of our items to the counter in one trip.
I'm very impressed. Besides organizing, you gave very helpful tips. I think this is the best and informational video on how to organize a refrigerator. My referigerator really needs it. I'm thinking in investing in glass tupperware. ♡
I put white paper towels on the sides doors and folded them to fit for easy clean up from any dripping of the jars. And sometimes I put them with vegetables so it absorbs the moisture and they stay crisp.
Can you please do a Bottom freezer organization video? I'm looking for how to keep it organized for some basic stuff (as we have deep freezers for major items). I would appreciate some ideas. Thanks.
@@kmcNorway Well they will rot faster if you wash them right before you put them in the fridge. Of course I'd love to eat everything super fresh and not store anything in the fridge but realistically you're not going to go do your grocery shopping every day.
The whole time I was watching this, I had anxiety and I realized it was because I was staring at an open fridge door.. need to close it to save electricity!! . lol @me...
I still hear my mother telling me to close that fridge!! So here I am at 66 years young, still hearing her voice (😉) so I leave my fridge open fir a long time, well for me it is, whenever I'm cleaning it or re-organizing....or even when my apt gets too hot 😁😁😁
how long does the cut up veggies last in glass containers? I waste so much food and dread making supper because I need to clean and chop everything so I love the idea of cleaning and cutting everything when you buy it
yes, glass container is the way to store food. No plastic. Your fridge look just like my own in my kitchen. Lots of colors from veggies and it is clean. I just don't have cans and plastic bottles with drinking water in my fridge bc I do not use them , they are not the best for our health. Thanks for the video. Blessings.
sorry but i like my meat and salami or mozzarella in their original packaging without anyone touching the leftovers to transfer from plastic bag to plastic bag
My coldest spot on my industrial side by side is the top left. That is where my milk goes and stays super fresh for a good 10 days after the expiration date.
Arianna Chmielarski you can call the manufacturer and they should be able to sell you a new one. I don't think it should be very expensive and definitely cheaper than a new fridge.
I don't have a problem storing milk on the top shelf of my Whirlpool side-by-side since that's where the freezer vent is. It doesn't freeze them either if you keep them on the opposite side of the vent.
What seems to always be overlooked, and most people don't know, it's HOW and how NOT to store produce. You shouldn't store ethylene prising producing produce together with those that are sensitive to it. ie store tomatoes with cucumbers and the cucumber will spoil faster. Shouldn't that kind of thing be an integral part of helping someone organize their fridge? The above to cut up and deal with the progressive right away is great though.. I wonder how long they will keep that way as I've been wanting to adopt this myself.
+Liba Krejzlikova You should be able to use any label maker, but Sara Lynn is using a Brother product that you can easily pick up on Amazon: www.amazon.com/Brother-PC-Connectable-Label-Maker-PT-1230PC/dp/B001IKKIVM/ref=lp_226180_1_15?s=office-electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1479128411&sr=1-15
She had garlic, onion, oilbased condiments, tomatoes, pepper, melon, lemon and lime. None of them shouldn't or at least don't need to be stored in the fridge.
Having just purchased a new refrigerator all I can say is forego the stainless and get metal--all my accessories can go on the fridge itself in magnetic holders on the door or sides. Magnets won't stick to stainless, but fingerprints will!
Interesting to see so many chopped veges and other condiments but no cooked food at all . Such organization videos look fake to me . People who cook three fresh meals a day have lot of leftovers and not just organized and clean fridge . Such videos are a sham and make me feel as if I am not doing enough .
I tried prepping my salad this way once......it all started to brown at the edges and go off in a couple of days. I think it stays fresher whole, in the salad compartment.
Are you talking about the machine she uses to label her items? It's actually called a labeler and you can find them on Amazon.com or in Office Supply stores in the U.S.
I have this same fridge and there is a shallow shelf hidden under the large shelf (holding all the condiments) on the right inside door. I have no idea why it's hidden like that. I put my baking soda and condiment packets in there
Maybe I am stupid, or maybe I am not. I had this tendency to think the top was coldest, but it might actually be in fridges with a freezer part. I think possibly I tended to always put my sunflower spread at the top, but I think it is because that fridge had a freezer compartment at the top. I also note that frost tends to form at top area as well, so maybe this is also because of freezer compartment.

Is it just me, or does she look like Joy from Inside Out?
Dhruvi Patel yeah!
hahahaha so true
Dhruvi Patel that's because it IS Joy from inside out.
She looks like Chloe from Smallville......lol
"Joy inside out"
Totally agree about preparing the produce as soon as you get home. That is a great tip right there.
Don't they go off quicker though? I would have though that, for example, onion will last longer if it is whole. Some foods will tarnish on the cut sides as well quite quickly. I always cling film the edge of cucumbers for this reason.
I am in love with the way she presents the tips. Crisp voice. I can listen to her all day long. ❤️❤️
I love the fact that American fridgerators are as big as my whole apartment. :D
Thanks :3 sorry your home is so small :|
Sorry, that you are not able to get a joke :|
I got it. I'm being ignorant.. 😜
-_- Troll
I'm just a man with a fridge bigger then your home buddy.
Best fridge organization by far on youtube! Thank youuu❤
She said the coldest is the bottom, I think only if it's a bottom freezer fridge. We have the top freezer kind and the top shelf gets so cold cause it's right underneath the vent where the cold blows out, sometime it becomes so cold it freezes meat that were not even frozen when I put it in.
Joanne Garcia I think she said that because heat rises and cold air goes downward. My top shelf gets pretty cold too though so idk...

Well done. Thank you for sharing.👍🏼
Thumbs up 👍👍 nice video 😊

pre-washing will create spoilage

And what if the rest of the family just ignore the organization??
exactly! I was thinking the exact same thing...
labeling helps
Don't forget summary executions.
Then they are not allowed to eat from the fridge, put a lock on it 😂
they will be organized
in the fridge
"the wine in my fridge never lasts that long" hahaha!
She has a place for wine in her fridge. No one does that besides those that have too much time on their hands for real issues.
I put white paper towels on the sides doors and folded them to fit for easy clean up from any dripping of the jars. And sometimes I put them with vegetables so it absorbs the moisture and they stay crisp.
Great tips! I love seeing all the healthy food ❤️
Thanks lady all you have to do now is come organize my fridge
Can you please do a Bottom freezer organization video? I'm looking for how to keep it organized for some basic stuff (as we have deep freezers for major items). I would appreciate some ideas. Thanks.
when vegetable are washed before use, do they get mould eaaily?
If you don't dry them thoroughly, yes, they will get bad sooner.
Yes
such a beautiful and clean and organized fridge i would love to have my that way which i can but my kids will destroy my hard work in just 1 day
You shouldn't wash your fruits and veggies until ready to use. They won't last as long.
They're not supposed to last as long :) We use them faster if they're prepped. Otherwise they rot :-(
@@kmcNorway Well they will rot faster if you wash them right before you put them in the fridge. Of course I'd love to eat everything super fresh and not store anything in the fridge but realistically you're not going to go do your grocery shopping every day.
Good tip. It washed the coating off that the producers puts on them. I didn't think of that.
Prove it

Sue Downey, you just made us laugh out loud! Thanks for watching The Design Network!
Leaving your fridge open will make your apartment even hotter, not cooler. It's not an air conditioner.
well done 👏 thank you .

Don't put tomatoes in the fridge, they lose their flavor below 60 degrees.
I was thinking the same thing!!
Refrigerated tomatoes make me very, very sad.
But if they're on the counter, wouldn't they go bad quicker?
It depends, tomatoes usually last 3-5 days for me before they start to rot.
sorry but i like my meat and salami or mozzarella in their original packaging without anyone touching the leftovers to transfer from plastic bag to plastic bag
And their original packages have writing on them, which means that we already know what is in said packages.
these are awesome ideas
Love it💗💗💗
Hi! Where can I find these open containers?
Very impressive, I need to get my stuff organised like this
My coldest spot on my industrial side by side is the top left. That is where my milk goes and stays super fresh for a good 10 days after the expiration date.
I'd love to see your facial expression when you open my fridge door. Jaja. Totally freak out!

what fridge is this!? dear god its like heaven!! mine is so old :(
Jaimie Wood i have a side by side like half the size.
Jaime wood it seems to be an LG, they are the ones with the slimspace ice system
Jaimie Wood yeah. Mine has a broken handle, like it literally fell off.
Arianna Chmielarski you can call the manufacturer and they should be able to sell you a new one. I don't think it should be very expensive and definitely cheaper than a new fridge.
If it’s the counter depth version, it’s an LG model # LFXC24726S
How do you keep leafy greens from going soggy after washing them?
Where do you find the long treys?
Where did she find those small storage bins? Cant seem to find them.
Cool ideas. You should put affiliated links to those can caddies in the video description
hey, really good info...!!
thx
Hi Which refrigerator do u have ?
Pls, can you tell me the model of that Brother label machine?
Thanks!
1:33 i cantttt 😂😂😂😂
What kind of refrigerator is that? I like it!!!
this video makes me so moist. I love organized things
I don't have a problem storing milk on the top shelf of my Whirlpool side-by-side since that's where the freezer vent is. It doesn't freeze them either if you keep them on the opposite side of the vent.
what type of refrigerator is that ?
Poultry drawer?
Is there a link to that shopping list from the pantry?
Seems like that there is more plastic and cans (more trash) than food...
more to wash and organize
Cans aren’t trash. They’re recyclables.

Hi, Where can I order the labels, I like the way you labels your fridge and how you organized it. thanks
where you store soap in the refrigirator?
I have that exact same fridge!

I have that same refrigerator but in black!
Thanks so much for sharing such great info . . . a bit too much plastic next to foods for my taste, though . . . God Bless....

Using a label maker inside my fridge is the ultimate level of EXTRA I aspire to be.
Don't keep tomatoes in the fridge, it ruins the flavour.
If she didn't use so much bottled water, but a purifier instead, she wouldn't 'waste' so MUCH space on those bottles!!!!!
thanks a lot...
what about avoiding cross contamination?

When I heard "a bag of milk" I said you must be Canadian like me (from Ottawa, Ontario). I live in the USA and have never seen bags of milk here.
Love this but wait...did i see garlic stored in fridge? some funny comments
She had garlic, onion, oilbased condiments, tomatoes, pepper, melon, lemon and lime. None of them shouldn't or at least don't need to be stored in the fridge.
Refrigerating lemon and lime can extend shelf life, but it's not necessary
I know what a soda or dressing looks like omg do I need a label! Lordddy

Name of Refrigerator????
Plz tell that small machine name
Are you talking about the machine she uses to label her items? It's actually called a labeler and you can find them on Amazon.com or in Office Supply stores in the U.S.
In Europe, we have milk and orange juice in tetra packs of 1 liter only, so that we never throw away bad ones!
Its always easier when your fridge is the size of a kitchen ;)

For leafy greens add a paper towel to the bag or container and be amazed at how long they stay fresh
