I'm pushing 76 and since 1972 we've always had a chest freezer. Then with the onset of "senior citizen" years, I found out that having a chest freezer - NOT FROSTLESS - was not a good idea. Upon having to scrape and collect ice from the bottom of the freezer I had to balance on my stomach to reach the bottom - I'm SHORT - and almost fell in head first a few times. Time to get an upright frost free freezer! Now we have two full size uprights and the fridge freezer. Just got a 1/2 of beef last week, so I have a lot of organizing to do!
I organized my chest freezer with reusable cloth grocery bags. They breathe so the air can circulate and it's easy to pull the bags out to get to other items.
insanity
I have a chest freezer and really like using reusable grocery bags for it. Then when I pull in and out it’s so much easier.
I have an upright freezer that was my grandma's - it's at least 45 years old and still going strong!
My GE chest freezer is 41 yrs old & still going strong. They don't make stuff like they use too!
Wow, 45 years???????? and is it energy efficient?
@@ninarice5279 they realized if they made long lasting electronics then they won't have customers lol
@@ninarice5279 Tell me about it! We bought a chest freezer in 20 or 21. I just moved it yesterday to get something else out of that room and found RUSTY water dripping from underneath! Being a Sunday and now today Memorial Day, I'm stuck waiting til tomorrow to call to figure out what to do. It's still cold, still works, everything is frozen solid...but how long can it stay like this?? HUFF. I miss when appliances were beasts. Idgaf about being "energy efficient" either. I'd rather have it work and last for decades than save a bit of money. Having to replace it every x number of years negates those savings, imo.
@@janejustin1788 Certainly more efficient than throwing it out to get a fancy new one that will not last as long and need replacing more frequently.
My son said that’s a lot of freezer.i just bought two.i can’t keep running to the store every week.i will save more you showed me how thanks kimmi ❤
I am really glad that I’m not the only one that wants to wear gloves when touching things in the freezer. I have started to absolutely avoid the freezer because I hate the feeling of my hands being cold. Sometimes it actually radiates a pain into my whole body, it’s weird. I have been wanting to get another freezer for a long time now and couldn’t decide if I wanted to get a freezer fridge combo, the Costco freezer, or even invest in one of those big hefty fridge size freezers. Right now I have a deep freezer so having to dig to the bottom for things gloves are definitely a must.
I store things in the deep freezer in reusable bags (like items together ) it was a game changer for me vs having to move individual items. The containers are nice but end up “wasting more space” versus the bags.
We have an upright freezer, much like your large freezer. I use “dish pans” the Rubbermaid pans that go in a sink…they are not labeled but so have one for marinated chicken, regular chicken, sausage, beef, and a “use now” bin. The door is for my bread and butter as well as ice packs. The top shelf is home grown veggies and the very bottom is for bulk ground beef and “spare chicken parts” for my broth. My drawer freezer under my fridge is for prepped veggies (I buy/grow onions and bell peppers, chop and freeze in 2 cup portions) and frozen fruit, as well as a few whole chickens that wouldn’t fit in the upright freezer.
We have a small chest freezer and honestly it’s plenty for us. We are a family of 4 living at home and 2 grown and flown. Anymore and I get completely overwhelmed.
There is something so comforting about having a freezer full of butter, lol. Great job moving and organizing all of those freezers with a quasi-broken finger!
We have an upright freezer in the garage with bins labeled for beef, chicken, seafood, sausage/bacon, etc. All frozen veggies are on the top shelf, butter and nuts are in the door. I have had both a chest freezer and an upright and if I could only have one I would pick the upright every time. Thanks for the video Kimmy and congrats on your new home!
Same here with label bins, makes it soooooo easy to find what I want.
We have our fridge freezer and a chest freezer. Chest freezer gets all the meats and the basket in there we use for butter. The fridge freezer is all vegetables. We also have a paper inventory attached by magnet to the chest freezer. Chest freezers can get messy real quick so we have to have that inventory posted and keep up with it.
This was a fantastic video ! I use the cardboard boxes that yogurt is sold by the case at Sam’s .I ducked tape the ends where the handles are to keep them strong . I stack them where I can and it’s very nice ! I will be buying the larger plastic bins for the top of my freezer like you did 👍 Thank you !
I organize my in house bottom freezer as my "weekly meal plan freezer." Hubby has to park his car so close to the garage freezer that we can not get the door open if he is home. So I think ahead and pull out everything I will need for the week of cooking and put it in the kitchen freezer along with a few extra frozen veggies to give me some dinner sides options. We also have a small freezer on top of the "beer & water fridge" that is in the garage and I keep extra baking supplies (flour, butter ect) in there.
Love love LOVE Butcher Box! There are two good intrerviews on YT with the man who started/runs it. VERY interesting... I've "gone carniovore" -- (down 30 pounds in 4 mos) so having a freezer full of delicious meat helps! (The only time it's "a problem" is when I forget to put a pound of ground beef in the fridge to defrost, or a pair of steaks or chicken breasts in the souc vide (I like them to cook overnight...)
And an idea I rely on: since I'm a widow lady, I periodically but 10-11 organize green peppers at Whole Wallet; puree the life out them and freeze them in "peanut butter cup" silicon molds. Pop 'em oput in the closeable container -- and I have "fresh" green pepper to use as a seasoning without the risk of a full green pepper going slimy in the veg drawer! I also do onions; I 'tart up' spaghetti sauce in the crock pot, cook it overnight, then portion it out into 1- and 2-C portion, prerssure seal and freeze. (I also freeze some in the peanut butter cup molds to use in omelets or with my ground beef.
Also, when I buy a Costco rotisserie chicken, I break up the carcase, 'tart' it up (those handy onion and green pepper 'lozenges!), cover it with Costco's chicken broth, cook IT overnight (and break all the bones after8 or so hours -- let the marrow out!) -- then freeze it in 1 and 2 C "Souper" silicon molds -- VERY strong, don't tear like the cheap ones (ask me how I know!). When it's chilly, or I want something quick -- chuck one in the microwave, add a bit of the green pepper, and some butter: YUMMY, and very warming!
I also bought an upright freezer to replace my chest freezer -- it was JAMMED PACKED with meat; Butcher Box was about a week from delivering another box o' goodies... and I HAD NO ROOM! (This was during covid lockdowns.) Thought, 'okay, buy a second chest freezer.' Not one to be had ANYwhere! Did my researtch and bought a great Frigidaire. (WISH I had known about the all-drawers kind. TEMPTING!)
I love Butcher Box. I’ve used them for a few years now. Not only is the quality amazing, but I enjoy the fact that I’m supporting smaller farmers.
I like to support farmers too but I want to support American farmers and the beef from Butcher Box is from Australia.

@JaneNorthrop Are there American Farmers with grass-fed and grass finished beef?
@@JaneNorthrop AND, as more folks buy grass-fed, more farmers will BE ABLE to change how they ranch!!
@@almmason7 Yes!! Resources online, farmers markets, local butcher shops, and just plain old word of mouth are all great ways to find them 😊
I’m a minimalist and I would be so overwhelmed by having all the food inventory to manage. I’ve one upright freezer with drawers and a separate upright fridge with no freezer department. Your electric bill must be $$$$. I got some good ideas for organising, hopefully my other half will follow my system, he’s a ‘space organiser’ he finds a spot and puts things!😂
My Memory wouldn’t cope without labels! 😅
I am from London and I love my freezers too! I have a big family and am always hosting too. In the house, I have 1 x american style fridge freezer and in the garden shed, I have 1x chest freezer, 2 x tall drawer freezers and 1 x fridge freezer. I could do with some more 😊
Please, firmly insert tongue in cheek before reading! I love your channel. I usually find it super helpful. I was hoping to find some organizing inspiration for motivation. Instead I now feel woefully inadequate. I’m going to have to have my friend, Anne watch this and come over to help. I’m sure this will involve reciprocation, but needs must. I already use the bin system, but I know a lady at church who has her inventory on the outside of the freezer organized by crate. Each shelf or layer of the freezer has a layer on the marker board. And then there is a space for each crate on the correct layer. Changes to the inventory are made as she takes something out. Her family is trained to do the same.
Drawer Freezer..love it!! Never seen one..
We have a large upright freezer, 3 chest freezers, and a small upright in the kitchen set under the counter, and the freezer that's part of the fridge ... they say don't put all your eggs in one basket, same goes with freezers! I made that mistake many years ago, I had everything in one freezer and it went to appliance heaven, didn't realize for over a week and literally lost everything... I Love having multiple freezers! it makes me feel safe knowing things are spread over several and if there is an issue we don't lose all our food.
Yay!!! Once again you have inspired me to clean! I just finished cleaning and organizing my freezers. Feels good. And we r having a turkey breast for dinner that I found way in the back and forgot about. I just love your videos. Smart and practical.
I have a full size freezer in my kitchen and a vertical deep freezer in my garage.
I organize very similar to this. My kitchen freezer is where I store the meats and veggies I plan to use for the week plus any frozen left overs and quick meals for busy evenings.
PS, I typically cook for 8-20 people because we are family of 4 but OFTEN have extended family over as well as host things a lot.
So I always cook for 8 and if the other family doesn’t come, I immediately freeze the left overs in single serving increments so that I have food easy and quick to defrost on the fly on busy days rather than grabbing take out.
My wallet and waist are so much happier
Your upright freezer looks amazing. We have a chest freezer. It is convenient, but it is not frost free and I find it difficult to use. But, it is all I have. Your Costco drawer freezer is wonderful. I have freezer envy. 😁
I have 2 freezers other than my freezer drawer of the fridge. I have a big chest freezer in my mud room that I call my fish freezer and it is full of salmon for the year (we have a fish wheel on the copper river here in Alaska) and halibut and Alaskan spot shrimp and smoked salmon and various other seafood. I also keep my husband’s frozen treats in there. My big upright freezer in the garage is for all other meats and frozen vegetables and freezer meals. I have them separated into crates and bins by categories. I love my freezers! Our friend raises, butchers and processes beautifully delicious chickens and now I want a little chest chicken freezer for when he processes chickens in the fall!
We have two large upright freezers, two refrigerators with freezer compartments, one small refrigerator in my pantry to hold mostly water and drinks. My husband also has an upright freezer and refrigerator in his shop. He keeps all the wild game and fish in these. I try to spread out my meats and vegetables in in my different freezers just in case one of them goes out while we’re gone and we lose everything so I won’t lose all my meat or all my garden vegetables at one time.
We have two large stand up freezers, one large chest freezer, and two 7 cubic foot chest freezers. We raise our own beef, pork, chicken, turkey, and we hunt and fish. We also have a huge garden. What we don’t grow we locally source. Not much in the freezers is store bought. Four freezers are organized. I have one freezer that we put all the older food in to use up first.
Hi, we have an everyday freezer/fridge side by side, we have a 17 cubic foot freezer in our basement and we have a fridge/freezer (freezer on top) in our garage. I use dollar tree shoe boxes and when we do the big shopping I seal all of my freezer items flat and stand them up in the shoe boxes. I date everything but newest goes to the right and we take from the left. Just a habit we got into. I really like your video. Our garage freezer is for bulk items. When we find bacon and butter on sale also when I cut up my peppers and extra cheese blocks. Also Turkeys and chickens. I am not very organized, but this seems to be the one area that I do well in that works for us. There is always improvement though. :)
I have a chest freezer that I really don’t love since it is so hard to get things out of, and I bought a Costco drawer freezer which I love
I store my butter in the door too, it fits so nicely and not much else does. I don't have as much butter as you so I fill the rest of the door with the little bags of frozen veggies. Now I can quickly see what veggies I have to select from for dinner.
😢😢I have a freezer in my basement. Each shelf has a job. And When my last freezer died, I saved the shelves and added them to my current freezer.
On my upright freezer, one of the large pull out drawers cracked and broke on the slidey bit, which made it a pain pulling in and out. But the whole bin is still good, so I pulled it out altogether, stuck four little wheels on the bottom, and now it's a slidey pull out storage bin under the bed. Currently on the hunt now for the perfect sized bins to replace the large one, and I'd rather have 3 separate ones in that space anyway, than the large one that was there, so good result all round.
Oh yes, we have two chest freezers and a full upright freezer. It's a must in order to buy a 1/2 cow and raise our own chickens. We love our freezers too!
We have both. I know the chest in power outages is best but I sure like the uprights better, it’s like the washer when your 5’ tall ya nearly have to go headfirst to grab when it gets down to half full!
I have 4 uprights - two very large, two large, mostly all meat. One freezer has bins full of raw meat in meal sizes portions, with or without heavy seasoning.. One has bins full of cooked meats. One freezer has glass containers of precooked meals, and the last has bins of cut up beef parts. I do freeze cheese in freezer baggies, a fair amount of frozen vegetables, butter and a few frozen store bought boxed foods. I love my system!
Hi Kimmy, we got a chest freezer when we got married, 25 + yrs ago. It is still going strong. I never utilized it well until I started watching your channel. Now comes in handy with all our meat when I buy in bulk. I used bins around my house. Of course we have two refrigerator/freezers. One in kitchen with drawer on bottom & basement one is our side by side. Has water and ice in door which makes better than or kitchen one. We had another French door refrigerator with freezer on bottom and something stopped working. I love this smaller one for, like you said, kid stuff or convenience food. I also want to get it fixed for summer drinks or platters when I have get togethers. Just hosted a baby shower for our niece on Sat. I had to make many trips to the basement than the 4 steps to the garage. Then we got an upright freezer by your recommendation and so excited but then the compressor went out. Hubby said it could be fixed but it isn't yet, so we got a new upright and it is full!! Need to reorganize them all after watching this video. Thanks Kimmy!!!! 💗
In addition to our kitchen fridge/freezer, in our one bay garage, we have a GE "garage ready" extra fridge/freezer and a "garage ready" large upright freezer. We don't have a basement, so we were thrilled to learn about "garage ready" fridges and freezers. They can handle the extreme temperatures our garage experiences in our east coast shore location.
I have my main frig/freezer. An additional upright freezer & another frig/freezer both in garage. I also have a big chest not in use. I've lived this way for years with 6+ people. Even with just 3 now Ive got them full. I do give away to my kids if they need it.
We have a chest freezer and we do what you mentioned it helps us out alot plus I really enjoy watching and learning about different things that you have done and shared thanks for everything plus our house was built in 1950 I think but we have upgraded over the years 😊. Sending you all much love from me and my family ❤️ here in Chicopee Massachusetts.
I have 2 refrigerator/Freezer's one in the house and one in the garage. I also have a standup freezer in the garage.
can you leave a link for the storeage bins you have for the freezer, thanks
Hello from North Carolina. We have two upright freezers, almost identical to the first one you showed (not sure if it’s the same brand-but they look identical.) Plus our kitchen refrigerator-freezer and a second refrigerator only in our garage. My husband is an avid hunter and fisherman, he keeps us stocked in venison and fresh fish. We turned his hobby into a way to save money and prep. Plus I garden and can, and freeze some veggies. I love having freezer space, makes a world of difference.
I have 2 stand up and 2 chest freezers. You have inspired me to get the clear container and organize. My smaller chest freezer was supposed to be for convenience foods and my bigger chest freezer for veggies my large stand up is in my basement and for meats and I have my smaller stand up in my kitchen for more convenience on foods I need for a couple weeks
I have an upright freezer with drawers (they have a solid front but wire for the basket part of the drawers), and a small chest freezer. I’ve been using reusable shopping/grocery bags to organise the chest freezer but I’ve been looking for something more sturdy. My challenge has been finding things with the correct dimensions and handles, but I’ll figure it out
Our refrigerator freezer is on the bottom and I love it! That’s where I keep frozen fruits and vegetables, bread, and ice cream 🤗. My upright freezer holds all the meat and make ahead casseroles, butter, cheeses, and chicken broth.
I have my kitchen side by side. Deep freezer and just got an upright. Thinking I’m moving all the meat to the upright because it seems to get lost in the deep freezer and I love my butcher box!,
Like your Dad...I store my ground beef in the door of my up right freezer. Steaks and roasts on the bottom shelf. I have a bin for cooked meals I prep for my 86 yr old Mom. She likes my cooking 😊Thank you for all your wonderful videos ❤
I just purchased a chest freezer, it’s not easy keeping it organized, however, I love it!
One upright freezer in garage, and one small freezer at our lake house in the kitchen +3 refrigerators total with some freezer storage. Thanks so much!
We have the freezer compartment in our kitchen fridge and a stand up freezer purchased back in 1980! it is small, about 12 cu ft, but plenty for us. Our kitchen fridge is the Samsung 4-door flex bespoke with two freezer compartments on the bottom. One is a dedicated freezer, the other can be flexed from freezer to fridge depending on need. in my stand up garage freezer I use the muti purpose bins from Container Store. They fit perfectly in the space, and each bin is designated for different types of food.
We have a drawer freezer in our kitchen fridge.
We also have an upright freezer and a smaller chest freezer.
I have 4 upright freezers in complete disarray. The one on the bottom of the fridge (#5) is also full of disarray. This is super helpful. I absolutely love this video. Thank you! thank you!
We have the freezer in our French door fridge in the kitchen and an upright freezer and a fridge with freezer in the garage. Thanks for your organization ideas! 😊
I'm a container freak how did I never think of this?!! Thank you!! I only have two top freezers. In my last house I had a huge stand alone freezer and I really miss it and have had to make it all fit into my two top refrigerator freezers. Your tips will really help. Can't wait to get started!
I have the same large upright freezer. There's just two of us. But I love buying good meats in bulk, and preparing ahead for 3 week camping trips.
That is awesome!
We have a family of four, with the fridge inside. Another fridge in the garage, along with three chest freezers (22cf, 7 cf and 5cf), and an upright freezer. I bought the 22cf at a repair shop for $100 (normally $1300! A Frigidaire commercial unit) and the man even showed me how to fix it if it fails in the future! We put the whole beef in the 22, poultry and fish in the 7, milk-cheese-ice cream in the 5, and freezer meals, pork, and vegetables in the upright.
The totes you used are such a good idea- I'll have to find some soon, the deals we get on pork, and the vegetables grow every year get a little messy in there!
We are a family of seven. We have our main french door refridgerator and two drawer freezer at the bottom. We have a second refridgerator with two drawer freezer at the bottom. We also have an upright freezer. I could use more freezer space even still.
Just in the last 6 months we moved states and I got a small standing freezer for the garage. My goal is to grow and preserve our food. We buy organic and local grown as much as possible, so I buy in bulk and make meals with leftovers... needed an additional freezer!
I have an upright freezer that I bought used in 1978. (I’m almost afraid to say that out loud). Love this freezer - it’s huge!
My sister has my parents old freezer, I would say it’s close to that year. They don’t make things last long anymore. Hold on to that gem!
We have a side by side fridge freezer, and upright and a large chest freezer and since we keep our camper plugged in and going all the time, we utlize that fridge and freezer as well❤
We have two chests, big for the most often used meats and smaller, for veggies; two big uprights, one for meat; one side by side on a fridge, and a lower freezer with a fridge.
We have an upright commercial freezer that was my father in laws. It has to be 30 years old. I love it. ❤
We just bought an upright freezer and I'm at the very start of my freezer prep. Thank you for so many ideas from your experience! And thanks for the valuable comments!
I have a chest freezer and an upright freezer in my basement. I also have a refrigerator in our garage. I absolutely love them all. We buy a lot of bulk meats.
We have 5 freezers. One in our house fridge, 2 large uprights and 2 medium chest freezers. I have them organized by category. First upright is meat, second upright is frozen veg, freezer meals, pureed pumpkin etc. the chest freezers vary depending on season. I love my freezers!
I have 3 as well. Upright we bought new, the chest freezer we got free and the house fridge/freezer. I am trying to get them organized right for us too. I do try to keep stuff that my husband will want in the upstairs freezer. I loose stuff in the chest freezer. I have bags in there. I may need to get the bins with handles. I will be watching this video more than once to get the ideas. Thank you! Walmart has similar freezer bins. I like the ones that don't round out at the bottom. Some also tapper so I watch for that.
We are a family of hunters and homesteaders so we have a chest freezer for meat and an upright for veg fruit dairy etc. My inside freezer is for in frequent use items or small amount of veg fruit butter & frozen treats.
In addition to my regular refrigerator with the freezer on top I have a standing freezer that has shelves shells all up-and-down and on the door but they're like baskets you can take out if you want to you could add different kinds of storage stuff if you wanted to but so far I'm just started putting things to try and keep it as clean as I can.
It is so funny to see you bundled up. I live in Phoenix. I literally plan my major freezer organize day for the coldest morning of the year (usually right after new years) because it’s so hot here and that freezer is outside.
A large standing freezer, a chest freezer, and two refrigerators/ freezers, and I could use more. ❤ them all.
Besides our fridge freezer, We have a 7.0 cu ft chest freezer. It’s only me and my husband. But one day I would love a stand up one to make it a little easier to organize but the one we have works. I try to just to keep open and small things in our fridge freezer since it’s small.
Fridge/freezer in kitchen, small chest freezer and large upright freezer and our old fridge out in garage..currently using meat in chest freezer others are for butter, frozen veggies and my garden produce, cool whip, ice cream, pies, and frozen dinners..lots of space and lots of food..I cook for hubby and me and occasionally my mom in law and bro in law who live next door
Thanks! I’ve been putting off cleaning out my kitchen fridge/freezer side by side & the one in the garage (top freezer). The one I. The garage fridge/freezer both need to be actually cleaned, ice cream or something leaked in the freezer & a soda can burst in the fridge & they need to be cleaned up. The good news is that they’re pretty much empty so it won’t take long. I can make my plan as to what I want to store where. I know the extra butter will be moving to the garage freezer door. I should get a move on…March is frozen food month & I don’t want to miss the deals! Thanks again!
While you can see well using those IKEA boxes, solid sides really reduce airflow. The vented, white boxes you showed early on really improve circulation, efficiency, and temperature consistency.
I have a chest freezer and also an upright freezer. I do a lot of food preservation. I definitely like the upright freezer the best.
Upright freezer in basement pantry. I have the standard refrigerator freezer combo in the kitchen. I keep things I frequently use in the kitchen freezer.
Yes, we also love freezers. We have a big chest freezer, upright & 2 refrigerator freezers. One is full of game meat & fish. The others have store bought meat. Everything else goes in the fridge freezers.
I have two trunk freezers, one is an old one but still working strong and a bigger new one, and a large refrigerator with small freezer on top. In the older trunk I store our stock of fish, and stale bread - the bread -we later dry out and give to animals on the farm ( in another area where we have property) . The larger trunk freezer has bulk stock of whole chicken, boneless chicken breasts each in a basket deep in the trunk. I also store all my meat in the same way here too. In a separate compartment it has, I store some freezer meals and in the baskets hanging inside, all prepared veggies go there in ziplock bags.
In the small freezer part of refrigerators, I store bread and dough type products. I had a drawer type freezer a long time ago, and it didn’t last long, it was also a pain to open drawers if ice accumulated too much. Truck freezers are far better. Also easier to clean.
Great video, thank you. The containers you kept saying were from Ikea were actually from The Container Store - the store labels were on them - I was excited when I thought Ikea was carrying those now.😊
I did! 🤦♀️ oh geez
I have my main fridge freezer and an upright drawer freezer in the garage. I like to buy/cook in bulk and I use the second freezer for that. Not just for space, but also because it gets a lot more cold than my fridge-freezer, so keeps things for longer.
We have one of the dorm fridges with a small top freezer; my kitchen fridge/freezer; a chest freezer and an upright freezers.
W3 have a large chest freezer for meats only, baking chest freezer and bacon chest freezer
Magnatizable! This is why I love you ❤
I like how the freezer bins have straight sides
I have three freezers- one medium-sized for veggies and fruit, one medium-sized large for beef and one large upright for chicken and all other things. I do put cheese and butter on upright door. And they must be organized
I have freezer love also lol I have the one in our refrigerator, a chest freezer, and 3 stand-up freezers that can also be used as refrigerators.
Hi from Wales in the UK . I love your organisation and pantry videos. I have a chest freezer and an upright one in my cellar pantry. The upright one currently has neat from two lambs we had processed plus bread products. The chest freezer is for other meat, 6 pint milk containers I like to keep along with frozen veg, fruit/veg that needs canning or non urgent meal planning then I do freeze things like biscuit and pizza dough, freezer meals and other regular stuff. I keep inventory in my kitchen of the freezers and my pantry shelves. Finally I have an overflow freezer upstairs for every day stuff, cheese, breakfast breads like bagels and crumpets, daily frozen veg and meat. I do need to label things JUST a little better. Thanks for hints and tips.
We have a chest and upright freezer. I use colors to help me. Beef is in red containers (reusable bags or bins), Fish is blue, Chicken is green, Pork in white and veggies in yellow. Anything else is in clear so I can see them. Everybody knows the color of what protein/food they are looking for. Loved the Ikea bins! Thank you for sharing this video.
Were you able to find them at Ikea? I haven't.
I have a freezer fridge in our kitchen an additional fridge freezer in our garage and a stand up freezer in the garage. Recently our daughter got married they have inherited a Costco obsession 😮so they are all stuffed gulls. I had the freezers all organized but then 8 years ago I had a series of stokes and I lost all control of my freezers and pantry everyone started jamming things ever so I’m at a loss😢 you have some great ideas thank you now I have inspiration to get my glove on and ask for some assistance ❤️
I have 2 side by side refrigerator/freezers and a medium sized chest freezer. When we changed to carnivore/Keto diet I changed how I store. The primary fridge's freezer holds meat. The secondary has vegs & fruits and the chest holds big meats we find on sale such as hams, briskets, whole chickens. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us.
We started with a small chest freezer to add more freezer space but switched to a large upright freezer for more space and help with not losing everything in it. That sucker was a black hole. LoL. But it did work fine so I passed it to my sister who still uses it and likes having a place to hide icecream and popsicles.
I struggle with the organization. We have fold up tables and at least 3 times a year we have to pull everything out and reorganize it all. I think if I put a better system into place it will help a lot. Thanks!
Yessss ! Thank you, thank you, thank you, for these tips. We will definitely be utilizing the suggestions. 👍
yeah, we have several asst freezers. no idea what is what in there.....i trusted myself to remember. oh no!! i love/hate you for showing me those organized freezers. i have yet to find ANY bins that fit neatly. and i have tried many times. i actually have CS, or Containeritis Syndrome.....and still havent managed to beat two upright, two chest, and the combos into submission.....sigh...and in the pasture i have a steer, a goat, and two pigs ready to go to freezer camp any day now......
I have a pull out bottom freezer on the kitchen fridge - that holds butter, cheese, veg and small ice packs. As a single woman I bought a narrow upright freezer when I found that time and space didn’t intersect correctly. I do a lot of canning, and always on the lookout for meat sales and stock up, but perhaps no time to can, so the upright was needed to take advantage of those sales.
Ours is odd because we don't have any freezer in the house. We found a used Sub-zero refrigerator only years ago for a few hundred dollars. It's been amazing (only one service call in 25 years (and it was 12 y.o. when we bought it). In the garage we have a upright freezer and also a side-by-side we use mostly for extra beverages, eggs from the hens, produce harvests and things like dairy cultures, vinegar mothers, scobys and other items like that.
Could you please provide the size or dimensions of the white boxes used in the large freezer shown at minute 3:39 ?
We have 2 upright freezers. But I love that organization idea.
Our first house warming gift was our upright freezer 30 years ago. We currently have to fridge freezers too which is amazing to have flexibility. I just added two boxes to see if I liked that organization system but I am not sure. Still working on the best system for what we have now.
my freezer just died this past weekend it was 3 yrs old. Upright is my favorite. We purchassed a chest and small upright to replace it. I miss the big freezer!
I have 3 freezers. The fridge/freezer that came with my house is now in the garage. It’s a side by side design. We bought a new fridge for the kitchen with the freezer on the bottom, similar to yours. In the basement, we have a large stand up freezer.
Yes we have 1 upright freezer & 1 chest.. plus the little one in the fridge in the house. My upright is for fruit & veggies. My chest is for meals, meat & convenience stuff
We only have the freezer above the refrigerator. I got tired of the freezer being so disorganized that about a year and a half ago I bought baskets. I did 1 basket for chicken, 1 for pork and 1 for beef. My extras like frozen veggies frozen microwave food go in the empty space next to the one basket. I also use my food saver to vacuum seal all my frozen foods, you save so much $$ by doing so.
