    Unfortunatley people will never appreciate this enough until a pro explains that using the body to swing and not the arms will yield more consistent results.
    3-4 weeks ago i would arm swing and body swing in a 50/50 and it was damn accurate, at least by my standards.
    Changed it all after a pro lesson and swing analysis and this is why i now get this concept and just rotating the body and leaving the arms behind me.
    Clearing the hips is just a way of changing the swing mechanics by using body rotation and not using arms to try and square it up.
    Oh also i find that a 1/2 to 3/4 max backswing makes this easier and damn accurate with the same distances if i’d murdered the ball.
    If the ball hooks, too much arms.
    If the ball Slices, takeaway club face not closed.
    Credit to the chap in the video. He’s explained it well.

      @@Hittingitsolid Always welcome. I have spent the last 10 mins in the garden feeling the heels more on the 2 follow on videos you alluded to in the series. A good find on youtube.
      Pleasure.

      Gary player has said this for decades and with the driver it can really help prevent a slice as the rotation of the chest and lack of tension in the forearms can help release the club head and square it off at impact

    Is it true that if one has a good firm left hand grip at the top, that the natural motion of the body will be to open the hips first anyway?

    • @Hittingitsolid
      @Hittingitsolid  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Chris, not necessarily. Every golfer's swing tendencies are different. I've seen golfers with a weak left-hand grip open the hips first. It is different for everyone. Thanks

      @@Hittingitsolid I was thinking more about grip pressure.... yes I agree regarding a weak left hand grip. Hogan, in his fundamentals book, illustrated a neutral to weak grip position. I understand that he maintained this grip position due to his tendency to hook the ball Regarding hands, Hogan suggested that they simply rode along during the swing and that the action of turning the hips first from the top actually allowed for the arms and hands to naturally drop into the slot. For me, this fits with your instruction. I like your method. Wish I could come for a personal lesson some time. I will be in London during March 2023. Thank you.

      @@chrisreeves4104 Thanks Chris, yes I think a good idea is to keep them as passive as possible like Hogan suggested. I always like the feel for most golfers of big body movements and letting the muscles doing as little as possible. Cheers

    Can someone explain what ''Clear the hip'' means. I have been hearing this for 20 years . Clear the hip from what ? The hip is not in the way of the arms or hands. Is it a Misnomer? .Does it simply means to turn the trailing hip?

    • @Hittingitsolid
      @Hittingitsolid  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Douglas, thanks for your comment. Yes, you're right, it means to turn / rotate the lead hip back and around. It's true the arms and hands do have room, however, if the hips haven't rotated back and around enough the arms and hands will come down steeper causing inconsistent golf shots.
      When you get the hips rotated back and around it gives more room for the club to shallow on the downswing. Remember to keep the pelvis back also. Cheers
