    Thanks for the vid nice work. As for the program as a long time autocad user, after trying Draftsite I did not find it a seemless experience at all

    After a lot of frustration with viewports, I should have known that a chill northern accent would provide the answers - cheers!

    Just the information I needed. I could not figure out how to get an accurate scale print out on an A4 sheet of paper and now I do and at any scale I want. Thank you

    This was very helpful. I'm converting from using AutoCAD to Draftsight and these little differences can be frustrating. Thanks for explaining this one.

      +Russell Losco The thing I don't like about Draftsight is it doesn't have annotation scale, in autocad my dimensions grow and shrink if I decide to change my viewport scale, DS doesn't do it, so dumb.

      +Zenkai76 In the free version it doesn't perhaps the paid version it does? It is quick to update dimensions though. What you talk about is called "Annotative Dimensions" and maybe in future it will appear here (or in paid version).

    Excellent video. So much better than anything I´ve found on the DraftSight website. I´m started using linux and I find it very difficult to find anything in its file system! Are there ready made templates and where would I find them - if not where can I download a set? Many thanks. Hope you put up some more videos on DraftSight.

      +Simon Gatti Hi Simon, the Linux file system works thus - try to keep you documents in the folders already there for you (Downloads in Downloads folder etc) but if you need to set up your own folders then set them up in your home directory. All of the other files on the system are there to make the system work and should be completely ignored, that's the beauty of the home folder, it's to stop people looking around and accidentally meddling with things they don't need to touch. The templates you speak of are just regular .dwg templates etc, the same that you'd use for AutoCAD. Any templates for acad will work in Draftsight, just pretend it's AutoCAD (but without 3d). For 3D parametrics etc (esp engineering) see Freecadweb.org

    Is there a way to automatically create a scale bar on the viewport?

    Wow, easiest and fastest way I have seen so far. Thanks. A question, I thought when you brought in the format inside of layout, I thought it wasnt suppose to go outside the dashed line otherwise it wont show when printed? Am I correct?

    How do you scale if it's in inches like 1/4"-1'?

    • @GSimpsonOAM
      @GSimpsonOAM 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Omar Cruz That would be 1/4" to 12" or 1 to 48 scale. Zoom factor 1/48 = 0.0208333xp?

      +g simpson +Omar Cruz Always check the printout with a scale rule too, to be sure.

    followed the steps religiously, but when i double click inside the viewport it "activates" but doesnt react to any zooming or scaling... whyyyyyy???

    • @revityork5219
      @revityork5219  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The viewport may be "locked" something like that?

  • @Zenkai76
    @Zenkai76 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Or you could just open up the properties box (CTRL 1) and click into the viewport then on the xN drop down box it has set scales....

    When i copy and paste then click enter to apply the block, it just ends up disappearing no matter what i do.

    update: Draftsight is no longer free.
    they had a great thing and then slowly crippled the free version, now it's a $100 buy-in at a minimum.

      +rene olivier There is sound, it's a little quiet I admit but there is sound. Turn your speakers/headphones up. The other comments suggest sound is there otherwise the comments would be bad. Please try again and let me know.
