OMG, thank you so much. I was having trouble getting consistent results from contrast/speed paints, it kept looking blotchy/patchy and never sat right, even with medium mixed in. Just tried with a few models and putting a coat of medium on 1st made it so easy to get a smooth finish.
Great video. Will you be doing a Volkus terrain painting tutorial? I like your painting style a lot so would be cool to see how you approach the new KT terrain.
Looks awesome! I've been impatiently waiting for Hivestorm to drop so I can paint the Vespid team up... now, I'm torn - not sure which army I'll start painting first! Hopefully, you'll continue to recover quickly - thanks for the great video!
I don't have any of the contrast paints, but this video was still super helpful to me! It helped me understand a bit of something I've been missing with drybrushing at the beginning! Thank you!
Hi, first of all, hope you get the Recovery u need, wish you all the best! and thank you for the Video and the hardwork... since i watched a Skaven Tutorial on your channel i use the same technique with the Medium first on and apply after the Medium the paints i paint sooo much better and less stressed :) again: thank you so much! Get Well Soon!
That was great. I was a bit daunted while assembling the Hivestorm box, but now I'm actually excited to get painting. One suggestion, I'd also love a guide to painting the included terrain, that's new to me.
I love the paint scheme and the using metallic paint underbrush for the armor, it makes a great weathered brass! Out of curiosity, is the paint scheme based on the imperial navy breachers released for kill team earlier? I swear, every time I see how someone else paints tempestus scions it makes me want to strip the paint off of mine and start over!
The covid shakes... I got a kick out of that because I occasionally have shaky hands in general so trying to brace the mini and keep it from bouncing while I'm painting can be.. daunting.
Thank you! I'm still tinkering with the process (and kinda limped along through this one) but basically it's just paint the sword blade (drybrush rune fang Steel over black surface), dull it with a dark wash like Nuln Oil. Next apply a thinned layer of Kroxigor Scales (1:2 paint to medium) then paint the lightning on in white once it dried. Then apply another glaze of the super thinned Kroxigor Scales (sparingly rebrighten with white in a few spots).
Where do people get those citadel dropper bottle paints? I've never seen paints sold that way in any GW or on their website, but they turn up everywhere in people's videos.
They're not Citadel specific, they're just dropper bottles that you pour the paint pots into for easier measuring. Huge Minis sells a bundle that comes with every thing (bottles, funnel and mixing balls), but you can also find them on Amazon: hugeminis.com/product/dropper-bottle-transfer-kit/
Its not a sold product.. Most people buy empty Dropper Bottles and then just transfer the paint from the Citadel pots into them, and then take the label from the old pot and stick it to the dropper bottle.. There are several videos on TH-cam on how to do it, if you're thinking of doing it
Hi hi, i dont have the army painter tyrian navy, what citadel paint equivalent can i use? Tnx so much for the great vid. Just ordered the hivestorm so i can learn how to play killteam so i want my killteam to be awesome like your minis
Leviadon Blue is pretty close, but it's a bit darker. Stormfiend Contrast mixed with Leviadon Blue in an even ratio is closest, but if you don't want to buy two paints Leviadon Blue by itself is still a nice deep blue.
Contrast Medium is basically just Contrast Paint but minus the pigment. It's used to thin Contrast Paints, making them more transparent and flow easier. Lahmian Medium is similar to this but, increased both transparency and fluidity even more than Contrast Medium. Video About Mediums: citadelcolour.com/videos/mediums/
Really good looking results! Wish you a speedy recovery!
Hey thank you so much! 🙏
Great video Darcy! Hope the recovery is smooth and your hands are steadier than ever soon!
Thank you! Oh the filming portion was a few weeks ago so I'm good now thanks. Still have an annoying cough at night, but overall back to normal :)

Really enjoyed the video and they turned out great. The technique for the lenses is something I want to try. Thank you!
Thanks! Appreciate the tutorial
Applying a layer of medium is new to me and will give it a go next time I have some screens/lenses to do. Glad your video popped up on my feed.
Great video! Superhelful explanations and clearly shown on camera too! Thanks 😊
Great work! Loved the techniques and the style.
Thanks for the video and I hope you have recovered

Awesome been waiting for this one.
Felt like Christmas.
That may be one of the nicest things anyone has ever said about my tutorials 😊 Thank you!
Great video! Excited to try out the paint scheme over the next weeks!

Very nice
Comments for the Algorithm! (Raptors) 10/10; no notes! (Raptors) The metallics and the lens really helped these guys pop! (Raptors 😁)

Yeah it was mostly staying in frame/focus that was the issue while I tried to comfortably brace my hands.
How did you do the sword, its gorgeous
