- The new 2022 official PS5 Covers are here. Today we’ll unbox the Midnight Black and Cosmic Red plates for the PlayStation 5, and I’ll show you how to remove and install them.
I’ll also compare the official PS5 covers to the dbrand plates we saw last year, showing what the differences are. Let me know which colour you’d pick!

Mix it up, one side red, one side black. Then do the same for the controllers. One Red and one Black sat on the charging dock.

DBrand 2.0 plates are more appealing to me. But if Sony release a Retro Grey I will buy.
I think the only colors they are missing for a "Galaxy"-theme, would definitely be some kind of stardust green, and some kind of flaring orange... but I feel like both of these colors would be a little loud.
True, but, basically every color *except* the standard white and Midnight Black are pretty loud for console covers, really. I say Sony should go for it.

Yes.. True... Green teal would be a great addition... I saw a photo in Insta with green teal color and its my wallpaper in my phone
Stardust green? That sounds kind of oxymoronic. Green doesn't fit the theme the designers are going for here either. The only colour that is missing is a deep Sony PlayStation blue, the one Sony has been using since late-PS3 and now PS4 and PS5, a _Planetary Blue_ if you will.

SpawnPoiint your videos are absolute perfection. As for the plates... 🖤 all the way. In fact my midnight black plates arrive today and I absolutely can't wait to attach them to my PS5. Like you I've had the D-Brand Dark Plates on my PS5 but was very much looking forward to official Sony plates for the branding.

I will say, while this really is a small feature, it is dope that you can interchange the colors of the actual console to your choosing, without having to buy a whole new console

reminds me of when the "new 3ds" dropped and it had the cool feature of switching the backplates on it
@@amzbf3200 Why is it odd? White/soft grey has been the Sony PlayStation brand colour from the very beginning. I find it odd that black would be the default colour, as that is more Microsoft Xbox.
@@quest8447 Sure, but the New 3DS is more comparable to cell phone backplates, whereas PlayStation 5 faceplates are totally comparable to Xbox 360 faceplates. To switch a digital home unit's appearance like that is quite a novel idea.
I also can't wait to see all the different designs and patterns people come up with. Make it look even more futuristic than it already is.

It's been a while since the 2021 setup tour released, which was probably my favourite video that you ever made. A setup tour for 2022 would be nice!
I will do one soon, I want to make a few new changes first.
I’ve been using the base white plates or the Dbrand black ones. I like my consoles to blend in so the more neutral colors are for me.

Wasn’t a big fan of the cosmic red when it was released, but it looks the best with the way the red and black complement each other.
I have a Cosmic Red Vita, a really fab colour, but I went to Black plates for my PS5. Transforms it from a Fischer Price toy to a real piece of hi=tech kit!

I love the black but after only a few months of having the black plates on… had to switch it back to the OG White. Both look great in my humble opinion.
It would look nice if they implemented some of these colours into the pulse 3D headset aswell. Especially the purple.

I really 🖤 the Midnight Black, because I want a matte black cover to match the Series X on the other side of my TV. Then again, I 💗 the Cosmic Red DualSense I'm currently using, so I'll probably end up getting both.

If I didn’t already have my PS5 in all matte black from Dbrand, I’d definitely buy the Sony plates. Im glad that there is finally an official option for changing the color

Purple is my favorite color so it’s an automatic buy but that starlight blue cover looks good also

The cosmic red looks pink In my opinion, the cosmic red controller looks better then the plate in my opinion, if you look from far the red lols red but from up close it looks pink and if it’s in the sun light. Great Vid

Are the plates the same color as the controller? The controller color is more magenta/ pink than actual red. Had to return mine
Here is hope for a translusent blue panel and controller, like the ps4 pro special they had, or the dual shock for ps1 and ps2

I would go with both Midnight black, Cosmic Red and Galactic Purple, those 3 colours are my favourite.

"PS5 Cover 💙,💜?". Black and red look great, and I might go with the first one if I try a "matte black everyhting" aesthetic; but the blue and purple ones grabbed my attention, speially to pair them with the controllers that look the same.

Both black and red looks cool. But personally, I still prefer the stock/default black and white. The two colors I really like.

I'm holding out for a see through console cover honestly but if it never comes all black is my second choice.
sony is never going to release an official clear one, there is no point to, since even with the faceplates removed, you still can't see the inside of the console because of the black center case
There’s 3rd party sources that have clear covered that come with LED lights to go around your vents.
My black plates actually arrived around 1:30 yesterday afternoon. Not only do they look great, they're a little bit easier to keep cleaner than the white...I don't really understand how, but they are.
EDIT: Picked up a black controller a bit later, the plates I have are definitely "Midnight Blue" by comparison. 🤬

I’m glad that the Cosmic Red color on PS5 products is more of a space nebula, raspberry red as opposed to a stark red like Xbox’s Pulse Red color which kind of looks like a cheap and artificial red to me. Still though, I’m going to stick with the base white plates that I’ve already tatted up with stickers as well as the Dbrand Darkplates 1.0 which I’ll be doing the same to as well.
I have a Cosmic Red Vita OLED, it's a completely different Cosmic Red to the PS5 plates!
Imma mix and match once the other colors arrive 🙏 I already got an off brand black plates but I'd like a two-toned look maybe blue and purple 🔥

I just received my Sony Plates in Black...they look really nice and the fit was perfect.
I got my black plates delivered today! They look so good 😭
I went with the off brand "black" with fan cutout because of better heat dispersion. I also got the black horizontal stand that lifts it a little better on legs in black color and black fan attachment. I heard people's console getting overheated and shutting off because Sony really didn't make the console with cooling in mind. I really love the way it looks.
The off brand fan cut out plates don't help with heat dispersion, they actually just get in the way of the heats exits to the console which ends up trapping some heat inside. This is because the heat wants to go to the back of the console but ends up being sucked towards the plate cut outs but it keeps getting pulled away.
