    Well done man and 'The Wife'. Nice you did this together with her support. Sounds like a great experience. You'll race the next one for sure which will be? Try Pete Pfitzinger 'Advance Marathoning'

    I'm getting ready to run my 15th marathon in Chicago next month and this is the first time I've ever heard somebody tell me I can turn auto lap off on my garmin. I just wanted to give you a huge thank you. This is going to help so much as my watch is never exactly synced to the mile markers. Also, I love your content

    MYWIFE! Martha from Kofuzi’s livestream told me about your channel. HILARIOUS. Super cool that your running journey began at the beginning of Covid….that’s precisely when I discovered Kofuzi, and subsequently Floris, BITR, and all the others. Keep up the great work, your videos are funny and helpful!

      Awesome! Thank you for the kind words. I was posting non-edited Maffetone talking head videos for a little while before finally taking the TH-cam plunge beginning with this overly detailed Chicago marathon video not really about the marathon. Learning quickly and hoping the humor masks the New Guy mistakes. 🙏🏼thanks for watching

      @@MidLifeRunner I love the MAF stuff, yet not enough to do the tests and wear a chest strap bc it is not the most popular way to train but the results are hard to ignore! 80/20 Matt Fitzgerald’s book described “Week of Slow” so I did a one week reset in 2018 and now run in the 9:s or 10:s if it’s not a workout, heart rate well below MAF number. And the deets from your Chicago marathon are what we REALLY need to know about…I spectated it in 2021 and wish I had researched how to use the train better and where to go. Cheers.

    I am flying to Chicago from the UK tomorrow to run the marathon on Sunday. This will be my 4th marathon and second world major. I'm travelling alone so anyone else in wave 1 (red) coral E please look out for a short scared looking Welsh woman! Your video has helped ease my usual pre-race maranoia 🙂 Thank you.

    I’m running Chicago really soon. It will be my first marathon ever and I’ve just been running a year. I’m in my early 40’s too.
    I’m excited but so scared. It feels like I’m next to a giant and makes me feel so small 😅
    Your words about just enjoying every high five from kids and hitting energy mushrooms helped a lot.
    Thank you! ❤

      🙏🏼 It is truly a memorable experience. I think getting there a couple days before and walking through grant park and seeing where everything is also helped qualm some pre race nerves. I just put out a top ten tip video for the race but it’s mostly covered in my overly long first TH-cam video you just watched 😂 best of luck

    Just came across your video… I won a sponsored entry from my employer for Chicago this October. I only had 3 months notice to train (with a lot of base miles), so I will be running with the goal of finishing only. Wave 3, corral L. 😂😂 I’ve run multiple half marathons and only one full marathon.

    How do you even get into this race, it just seems impossible with the random lottery and too expensive to run with the donation option?

    • @MidLifeRunner
      @MidLifeRunner  ปีที่แล้ว

      I Believe you can run a “good for age time “ - for me it would’ve been 3 hours 20 minutes , which I had not run . So I got lucky with the lottery . Regrettably a lot of world majors are lottery only . The New York has an age time but I think it’s 2:50 maybe . Pretty steep

    • @DianneSullivan
      @DianneSullivan ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I got a "good for age" time back in 2019 to qualify for the 2020 Chicago marathon which was cancelled of course so I deferred my entry to this year - 2023 - it's on Sunday yikes! I choose 2023 because I turned 50 earlier this year and am in wave 1 due to my qualifying time back in 2019 which was 3:36. I'm now in a different age group so don't need to run as fast to get into Boston (a great part about getting older). This will be my 4th marathon, and 2nd world major (I've run London twice) so I'm working on getting the Abbot 6 star.
      Having said all this, I could have gone down the easier route of getting a place at Chicago through an international tour operator who have guaranteed places for non-US residents (I'm Welsh and fly to Chicago from London tomorrow). You could get a place in London this way (assuming you are US based) - sadly I have to go through the lottery or time qualify
