Do you realize that back when this was recorded, there were miserable fucks saying the same kind of miserable shit, talking about "this now mad sad world of 1992", complaining about kids listening to terrible new music, whatever happened to the good old days, etc etc
In fact, there are always miserable fucks saying shit like this, they seem to respawn every generation like biff in back to the future
The ironic thing is that this "old good new bad" bullshit could not be more diametrically opposed to what the rave scene was all about in the first place.

When I watch these videos, I swear to god, sometimes, I literally get that feeling in my gut, like the buzz is still there. It reminds me of those amazing days I once had.
My stomach literally does back flips like I'm almost, just almost, starting... It's that coming up feeling once again for that one final high.
The high that got away, in the madness of those long nights and days, driving in vans to warehouses and dancing the fucking night away like legends without a care in the world.
Fuck work on Monday it's all about the here and now, let's have it boys!!!
    But...
But, then I remind myself I'm married now, I have kids, I’ve moved away from my old friends. I'm happy how my life has turned out.
    The memories are just fine!

The only thing missing is the smell of Vicks wafting through my phone.
Great days - An almost religious experience for all involved. Everyone had their own routines and plans as the weekend approached. Saturday afternoon, sitting around listening to tapes of Sasha and Top Buzz, smoke a few, get a shower, get sorted, taxi to town and then the fun started.
The nervous anticipation whilst waiting in the queue, for what was to come that night. The first tingles, DJ drops a tune - And they're off.....
I feel truly privileged to have been a part of this. Times change and life moves on, but I swear that we truly felt that we we making history every weekend. I still miss it, almost 30 years later. It left a tiny hole of memories and naivety that I have never quite filled since.
Nostalgia bites, memories fade and I smile every time i hear a banger from 'back in the day'.
    Entropy '91 to '92.

26.06 - I've watched this multiple times, and the best bit is here, with three girls mates hugging eachother, bang in the middle of the dancefloor, doubtless rushing on the euphoric wave of love we all enjoyed during those days, oblivious to the club and to what others think - whilst the rest of the ravers just go about their own thing. This sums it all up for me, as a raver in the early 90s. I never managed to get to Shelly's, but I had ALL the tapes, and had mates that went religiously. This entire video could have been shot in my local club, given the fashions, obvious excitment to get in and rave, and the music. BEST DAYS EVER.

Michael A I would imagine yes that any such movement must have been equally as exciting. I think each new decade had it's 'thing' from the 20's right up to the 90's. Swinging 60's, disco fever, etc, etc. I am not sure how it will play out in the future or what new generations will look back to for inspiration. Especially when we get to the new 50's and 60's etc as in 2050's and 2060's. Have you given that much thought, how music and fashion takes inspiration from the past.

Watching the people getting into the club reminds me of that excitement you felt as you could just hear the music - knowing that in the next couple of minutes (after being, ahem "searched"....) you were going to be grooving your ass off and coming up on a pill. Seb Whatever Sorry fella the clubbing scene these days isn't a patch on what it was like in the early 90's. It just isn't. All these older heads are doing is trying to recreate what it was like back then. But it never will be. Not with the mentality this generation has. It's like people trying to recreate the 1960's. You could have everyone wearing the same clothes listening to the same music and even taking the same drugs. But it would never be the same and it would never be as good.

@MakeorBreak, haha, I thought that as well. I was watching a tv drama the other day about youngsters in the 1980s, every single person's mouth was constantly bumping up and down chewing gum.
I was out clubbing in the 80s and 90s and don't really remember it, but I guess it was just because we did it all the time and thought nothing of it...but it looks daft.

This has to be one of the best videos of an early 90s rave I've yet seen surface. The camera was kept rolling for the entire set. Half decent image quality for the period: even an ambient sound track that is not offensive.
The entire crowd is there to DANCE, and they DID NOT SHOW OFF AT THE CAMERA. Everyone dancing looks COOL because they are making an effort. Good solid house!
Just a great bunch of ordinary people out to catch the feeling. No one obviously drunk, bumping into people. No guys giving women a hard time (at least on camera) Nothing being thrown, no obvious agro. Just a beautiful time had by all.
If shit went down for anyone after this party I am truely sorry. But for most of the heads… if you were there… deepest respect! You lived the dream.

This was myself back in the day. Nothing but feeling the music! Not proud of it now but the amount of pills I’d dropped over the years was ridiculous.. Yet it never turned me nasty or out of control into fighting like it does with alcohol. By the morning you wouldn’t have that god awful hang over either! If anything you’d want to be back in that club! These were the best years of my life by far. Today’s generation I actually feel sorry for as they’ll never get this kind of euphoria again. To busy on their phones now days or to stuck up their own arse to enjoy themselves.

Sined Roza - I Don't Know What It Is
Rhythm on the Loose - Break of Dawn
Tingo Tango - It Is Jazz (House Mix)
2 For Joy - Let the Bass Kick
    S12 - On A Ragga Tip
    Pierre Feroldi - Movin On
    Asha - JJ Tribute
btw, I really miss those days. I live in NYC now and all everyone does is dress up, stand around and try their hardest to be cool. Music doesn't matter especially seeing the guy who's been voted best DJ for the past 10 years or so plays top 40.

But that made the night that bit more special, 3 cars full of your best mates, already scored during the week so wee were laughin, Shellys, Kinetic, Wigan pier, Bowlers Manchester and The Orbit, Leeds. Some of the places wee had some stonking nights and not one bit of trouble, came home safe to Chill in someones house all day smoking some weed and laughin at the stories from the night before. I`m 50 now and still think about those nights and everything that came with the scene. Even Ibiza every year, now that`s another story....LOL........
