Vehicle Interior Refurb / Leather, Vinyl, Plastic + Sound Deadening

- The Jeeps interior is playing on my mind, and I never leave a good sock behind. That was a rhyme. I'm back from a short trip to the UK and I have acquired some original XJ interior. In this video I want to address some moisture issues, refurbish the interior, vinyl wrap some parts, and replace my leather seat covers with the originals from ten years ago.
I'm going to go a bit OCD on this one, maybe not enough to sleep completely through the night, but enough to get a few hours in before the night terrors start. Despite my enthusiasm to get started on the 4.0 Renix, the parts haven't arrived yet, so the Diesel is in for a treat.
Thanks for watching and your support!

Mike
A good sock can be very comforting on a cold and lonely night in the roof top tent 😂
Don't sell yourself short, "even" videos where you do these things are incredibly satisfying to watch. Always entertaining!
I cannot even begin to describe how helpful watching videos like these has been in fixing random bits and pieces in my own XJ.
Thanks for uploading all of this!
It's my pleasure! Thanks for watching!
I always learn something new watching your videos. Love your humor and those who don't get it oh well. Thanks for another great video Mike. 👏
Thanks for watching!
glad you put up a video I don't know how much longer I could have gone with out one. I might have to actually go outside my self and do stuff.
Know that feeling all too well with a project Jeep sitting on the driveway 🤣
can't wait to see that 4.0 steal ur heart
Making cars from regular steel is like making diving watches from paper.
Ah finally fixed and installed and repaired everything and now this baby can take on any outdoor adventure. Nothing more to do....nothing more...hmmm.
OK - it's all coming out.
It's all done, Meg....... all done.... it's never done.
I think it’s great that so much of what you do is improvised. 👍🏻
Just like it when you do stuff. Can't believe you actually did the mask and the hoover. Yes your leather work is sadly missed in the community. Once a day keeps the prostate cancer away. Good video, they always are. Keep it up💦
Appreciate you watching. The hoover, haha, it was asking for it.
I still do some basic leather work, but it's scaled down quite a bit. Is that actually true? Once a day keeps the prostate cancer away?
You knowledge and skill around that jeep is insane but your patients is pretty impressive that's for sure 🤙🏻🏴
With all due respect to your content overall.. But your British sense of humor is just top notch for me 👌😁
Impeccable pull-out maneuvers! I guess after your first or second kid, you endup perfecting the technique. 😉👍
BJE...Best Jeep Ever!🤩
Like your OCD...we all love & admire!😉
Keep up the good work you're doing!!
ATB Mike!🤝
It's all about priorities Mike. The socks should always take precedence.
Mike, if you can locate a automotive paint store near you, SEM makes a vinyl interior paint for your specific interior color in aerosol. if they don't have your specific color code. they will have color cards to get a close match, even though aerosol, its amazingly durable and holds its color for years, it will make your quarter interior look brand new less the cracks, which you can super glue prior to painting.. love your content bud, and thanks for the laughs. Cheers!!🍺🍺
Thanks for that. I've found the colour code and ordered a can. I will touch up the back interior, I think. It looks faded. Appreciate the info and thanks for watching.
@@WorkshoptoWilderness your going to love the product, I use it often when refreshing older vehicles. typically I use a grey scotch brite pad or even a magic eraser to clean the panel prior to painting. for an aerosol it lays down surprisingly well, that being said, I've not used it in the temps you experience.
Wow! A lot of work but very satisfying!
Thanks for watching 👀 🙂
Love the attention to detail and your sense of humor
Gotta keep those gimp suits going strong 💪
4:20 me just before 3h sesh on a weekend
😅
Well done. That was a ton of work!
It was certainly more than I expected. Thanks mate!
As always! Great video! Looking forward to next video already! 🤗
Thanks for watching
Turned out great Mike! As you said, a TON of work and labor of love. Looking forward to the work to start on the 4L.
Once again, I've bitten off more than I can chew. I'm just starting on the drawer system.
Thanks for watching
What is alright?
lol that got the like! Now time to finish the video. Enjoy!
New bonnet/hood release handle is a bit on the small n flimsy side like, Mike; my petrol cap release is twice the size of that. As for screwing through wiring looms - standard practice! 😁
I don't think I showed the release latch? Did I? I never installed it anyway as that's for another day. I've screwed through a few looms, not recently, as I've learnt my lesson!
Thanks for watching
@@WorkshoptoWilderness You said "hood latch" while holding up a handbrake which I guessed was a deadpan joke :) Ditto with the looms - I assumed 'I put these straight through wiring loom to act like loctite' was more classic dry wit :)
12:15 fully loosing it... 😂
Great video and attention to detail. You ever need anything from the US, I am happy to help. Looking forward to the next one.
This is my light and inspiration, keep it up Mike!
Watching your videos always nudges me to do some work on my inline 6. Time to put in a new headliner. Cheers Mike. 👍 day 83 of the new chemo(Ivosidinib).
How's it going on the new treatment? Are you feeling better? Hopefully, it continues 🙏
Thanks for watching
I’m on day 84 right now. Thankfully, this different chemo is not as hard on my body, in comparison to the other stuff(Temodar). The next MRI is coming up on the 16th. Hopefully, the growth has been halted. My doctor cleared me to do simple camping trips. So to get back into the swing of things. I will be camping here on the family farm. Thank you for asking. Cheers to you and your family.🤙
Nice work, as you say a huge amount of work. It really must be one of the best looked after XJs in the world!
Yorkshire tea is the best! 💛
How's the fam mate?
It's very good tea! They are all well, thanks, mate. The snow is pretty much gone now, so it's good to be out all together again.
Thanks for watching
Always a pleasure mate.
I really enjoyed this (and all your) video(s). What you do is something I never see myself having the skills or time to do, so I just love relaxing and following your journey. Plus Sweden is up there as the most beautiful country I have visited.
Nice work! I need to get some of that sound deadening
Thanks Mike.
Have the same exact problem :( rebuilt the floor and painted everything and I've been getting condensation and therefore the floors been rusting again. Thanks to you know whats going on! Had no clue it's condensation until now :) Cheers from Iceland
Mate you could have made this into a 3 hour mini series and i would have watched it. I’ve learnt that you know your jeep intimately. Like deep deep
Holy shit what different the interior came 👍🏽😃 that nice mate! I’ll rip of all the interior in my too, and put some noice reduce on floor.
Wooooo another video!!!
Tell us more about the gimp suits Mike 😊
Hahaha, I no longer dabble in leather work, although sometimes for family and friends 😅
I have several of those handle pieces if you can’t find one
Ah, seriously! I just need the one. They are really hard to find here. How much would you take for one?
I thought the leather on my old man's XJ was actually plastic 😂
Can you do a walk around video from your activity room ?
3rd 🥉 I used a product from Russia called Noico that was a lot cheaper than fatmat on my XJ
*Disclaimer: I bought that during warmer times with Russia.
you are very funny (haha). yeah shit load of work.
Did you put sound deadener on the floor in the cab or just in the back?
It's on the floor of the whole jeep and the roof. I just revisited the back mostly in this video due to the water problem.
Thanks for the reply! Was worried about moisture getting into the sound deadening in the cab but looks like no issues??
The cab was fine because there was nothing over the top of the sound deadening. The problem in the back was the rubber mat.
Stop playing with it, leave it alone, you'll go blind!
