Hi Ally!!!You’re so cool!I love your channel and how much you support Taylor Swift!

@@AllySheehan 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🍿🍿🍿🎼🎼🎼
I love your ranking videos. Can you please rank Full House episodes?
I think because of the success of Barbie and Wicked, film execs will see that Legally Blonde will also be very successful. I’m so excited for all the girlypop / theater movies that are to come because of how much we came out to support these other movies 💖
Unfortunately, if we're having a Legally Blonde musical movie adaptation, it'll be a long while since they're working on a prequel series called Elle and a new continuation to the 2001 movie right now.
I would kill for a movie musical version of legally blonde. That cast album is one of my top most listened to
god i hope this happens
@mionsonozaki7831the prequel series sounds so dumb
@@PelafinaLievre Ughh I know, it just sounds like a cashgrab. I don't think anyone would even be interested in seeing past Elle considering she hasn't gone through her character arc and reaches her prime at this point.
Actor Tally:
In 3 of the films mentioned:
- Queen Latifah (Hairspray, Chicago, Joyful Noise)
- Meryl Streep (Mamma Mia [including both together here], Into the Woods, The Prom)
- Christine Baranski (Mamma Mia [including both together here], Into the Woods, Chicago)
- Julianne Hough (Footloose, Rock of Ages, Burlesque)
- James Corden (Cats, Into the Woods, The Prom)
- Idina Menzel (Rent, Enchanted, Wicked)
In 2 of the films mentioned:
- James Marsden (Hairspray, Enchanted)
- Zac Efron (Hairspray, The Greatest Showman)
- Jayne Eastwood (Hairspray, Chicago)
- Amy Adams (Dear Evan Hansen, Enchanted)
- Cher (Mamma Mia, Burlesque)
- Keala Settle (The Greatest Showman, Wicked)
- Anna Kendrick (Into the Woods, The Last Five Years)
- Tracey Ullman (Into the Woods, The Prom)
- Johnny Depp (Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd)
- Jesse L. Martin (Rent, Joyful Noise)
- Tracie Thomas (Rent, Annie)
- Taye Diggs (Rent, Chicago)
- Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago, Rock of Ages)
- Denise Faye (Chicago, Burlesque)
- Timothy Spall (Enchanted, Sweeney Todd)
- Jeremy Jordan (The Last Five Years, Joyful Noise)
Now, I do feel that some pretty crucial movie musicals were left off of this list and would have increased the number of times some of the actors were mentioned:
Les Miserables (how was this not included? It has Amanda Seyfried, Hugh Jackman, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Helena Bonham Carter that were mentioned in other musicals on this list)
- Moulin Rouge!!! (How was this also not included? It has Nicole Kidman who was also in The Prom)
- West Side Story (has Ariana Debose who was also in The Prom)
- Dreamgirls (has Jamie Foxx who was also in Annie and Jennifer Hudson who was also in Cats)
- The Phantom of the Opera
- The Color Purple (2023)
i didn't include films i haven't seen!!
thank you so much for making this tally :)
You, my good lady, have done God's work. We'll done!
@@AllySheehanyou have to at least see Dreamgirls, Les Mis and The Color Purple!! Goosebumps in all of the songs!!
@@AllySheehanI’m seated for the live reaction video to Moulin Rouge suddenly 🥴👀
@@AllySheehan You're so lucky you haven't seen Moulin Rouge. You should for sure keep it that way. Do not listen to people telling you it's good. They're absolutely crazy.
WAIT I ACTUALLY KIND OF HAVE AN ANSWER TO THE GLASSES THING IN WICKED! this is actually a well known discussion since the stage production does the same thing. And the answer is that apperently elphaba just decides to see the world a bit more blurry, she still carries the glasses around, even in the wizard of oz there are a few scenes where she wears glasses in her pocket as a sort of accessory, but especially in the wicked book, they make it a point that elphaba has a pretty bad eyesight (in the prologue she thinks the lion is a cat), so i guess after popular my girl decided that glasses didn't fit her aesthetics or something but she def still carries it around!
omg thank you!! i was like how the heck is she reading the grimmerie...
when you put tick tick boom into nyada my jaw dropped cause that to me is absolute God tier. do i sob anytime i watch it, listen to it or even think about it ?? yes but holy hell i love that film with my whole entire heart
Agreed. Movie should have won an Oscar.
I thought the movie version was so perfect
That movie is absolutely god tier and I watch it whenever I'm ill but want to wallow in being ill. Just put Andrew Garfield in everything I beg you
Agreed!
It absolutely deserves God tier, and the fact he lost to Will Smith for best actor is a travesty.
You coming out the gate as a Hairspray stan made me immediately trust + follow you! It is my most watched movie of. all. time.
When you said you were going to lose a lot of people with Greatest Showman..... and then loved it was a great relief to me lol I love that one so much!
omg thank you!! everyone else online says it's the lowest worst thing ever made and that's my BABY
@AllySheehan I just watched it again earlier this week lol and the soundtrack is one I love also
@@AllySheehan what i had no idea 😭 it's my fav movie ever
@ktgallo5 I simply don't understand the people who don't love it. I've been obsessed with it since it came out. Beautiful movie with an incredible soundtrack ✨️✨️
I was very scared! I LOVED this movie! 🥰
i went watching the movie COMPLETELY BLIND. i knew wicked existed, and that was it. and let me tell you, the last week i haven't been thinking about anything else, i didn't listen to anything but the soundtrack, i'm watching interviews, i'm listening to the original versions of the songs, i will buy the book, i'm catching up on the entire culture around this story. i knew i would appreciate it, but i FELL IN LOVE with it. can't wait for part 2 of which i don't wanna know a single thing until the movie comes out to have a full experience.
Ariana was AMAZING, especially in acting, she exceeded my expectations. and Cynthia....the way she sings defying gravity is world changing.
okay that's it!! i talk a lot i'm so sorry.
great video by the way, love you ❤️
be sure to skip my spoiler part later on in the vid i don't want to ruin anything for you!!!! isn't it so fantastic
Heads up the book is darker and more adult but still very interesting to know more about the world and to see what they changed
@@whitneyhendrix8075 yes! much more drastic, but i consider it a similar comparison to how the movies and marketing for the hunger games are much more sanitised than the books.
but also @christianscarinci4527 please check all the trigger warnings. it's definitely not a light read, but i like it.
Not sure you'll like the Wicked Book, unless it's been rewritten for the Musical. I love reading. I read it years ago, and it had parts that were excellent, which the musical reflects, but there were too many part that were not, as much darker. That's just one opinion. I hope you truly love it. ❤️
That's good to know. As someone also know the musical existed and know nothing about it, you hipped me up more to watch the movie. I've been seen some criticism about the lighting too and was warried for the movie as I really wanted to watch it. So you saying things relief my a lit bit. Just wait to be released in OTT as I can't watch it in theaters, so I'll try to stay away from spoilers 🙏.
Oh that intro ATE
Thank you!!!
THE GREATEST SHOWMAN IS AMAZING, THANK YOU FOR SPEAKING THE TRUTH. It was how I discovered all the actors from it, because i was about 9 when it came out (it was 2018, right?) and I had had no connection to disney channel. It was a great introduction to them for me
Your editing is BRILLIANT!
😂(Aretha “Lies, Lies & more lies…& lies on top of lies”)
What about Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables?? Also THANK YOU for highlighting the extreme superiority of The Greatest Showman.
Yes! Aly!!! Please!!
And Grease
AND HAMILTON!!!
Yess Phantom of the Opera!!!
I came to the comments looking for this.. Also what happened to Moulin Rouge?
wicked has GENIUNELY changed my life for good and when i went to see it in theaters, since the intro all the way to the end (yes i did cry at the end who didnt) it was very hard trying not to cry. the entire thing makes me so emotional
"for good" i see what you did there
36:41 I like to think that warcry is associated with the Wise Ones in-universe, so Elphaba using a modified version of that while defying the Wizard was her proclaiming "No, _I'm_ the one with magic; I'm who the prophecy was about, not him"
Exactly, I've heard many people saying they didnt like Idina's warcry in the movie but they literally say the savior of Oz/the one who can read the grimmery will sing it.
BRING IT ON MENTIONED!! Our High School did it this year and we got an award for our production too! It’s such an underrated musical and I hope the musical gets adapted into a movie musical
i feel you with RENT. the movie made a lasting impression on me and helped me move on from my grandma's (my best friend) dead. The movie and the musical also helped me accept myself and i found confidence to express myself. Viva la vie boheme!
Also, my favorite musical song is also 'What You Own'
Hi Ally! I was so curious about The Color Purple? Wonka? Moulin Rouge? Matilda? Grease? Le Miserable? Anyways, i love this musical corner of your content. I feel so seen
grease isn't a post-2000s movie! and i only included films i have seen so far :) what did you think of wonka?
@@AllySheehanbut also the new West Side Story?
@@Talia_M_Adams I couldn’t bring myself to watch it because of Ansel Elgort :( is it good?
@@AllySheehan that’s so fair! Ariana DeBose is brilliant
I was also curious for her thoughts of Les Mis! Definitely one of my favorites, even though it is so incredibly sad!
This is my Roman Empire . When the Swifties and musical nerds align ✨

Yes, love it😍
Jeremy Jordan’s voice is fantastic. His covers of from now on, she used to be mine and it’s all coming back to me now went number one in my house for years!
it's all coming back to me now is TOP TIERRRR his vocals just never let up
YESSSSS, I LOVE JEREMY JORDAN'S VOICE SM. I've only seen him in like, 2 shows and he plays my favorite characters from both of them (if it isn't obvious from my pfp).
“Run Away With Me” - I just can’t 🥹
Enchanted is frequently quoted in my household, it's AMAZING
I feel seen by your ranking of Hairspray! I have been screaming this from the rooftops but sadly no one in my real life cares 😂. I would love for you to do a top 20 film musicals of all time. I am a swiftie and a musical lover so I enthusiastically approve this content.
She's also correct in that the film is better than the original film, and the Broadway musical.
Loved the ranking of Hairspray! Respect for that
22:11 Yes, Chicago is based on 2 real-life cases from 1924 in Chicago. And I think the film adaptation was amazingly done. It definitely deserves its Oscar.
Would love for you to do a deep dive into movie musicals sometime! Like their history and evolution and what’s super iconic etc. The OGs from the 50s and 60s are my JAM!
26:51 For more fun facts, the soap opera actress Edward was watching was Paige O'Hara, AKA Belle, and the mother with a bunch of kids Edward saw when he was looking for Giselle was Judy Kuhn, AKA the singing voice of Pocahontas. Also, Idina auditioned for Rapunzel in Tangled, and they decided to go for a younger sound, but were going to keep her in mind, which they did for Frozen. Also, in the Tangled show, Rapunzel's best friend was voiced by Eden Espinosa, a former Elphaba.
as a swiftie and musical girlie, I'm SAT.
REALLLLLLL
SOOOO TRUE
for reallll
I'm so glad you put The Greatest Showman in god tier. It's such a perfect musical. I can't even say one song that's a flop. And also From Now On has me sobbing and dancing around in my room at the same time. The performance practice of that and This Is Me, that they put on youtube also have me sobbing and and singing along full blast. As much as I love Mamma Mia, and I've seen it at least 150 times, The Greatest Showman is up there too for me ♥️
Also, yes, Andrew in more things!!!!!!
I've never seen Wicked before going into the movie. And oh my goodness, was I blown away the whole time. I could feel my face glowing the whole time and I had the biggest smile leaving the theater. I have been listening to the soundtrack over and over since then. 🍿
this makes me SOOO happy to hear!!!
I actually am one of the few who had not seen the stage show before seeing Wicked in theatres. I fell absolutely head over heals in love with the story after seeing the film. It has taken over my entire life right now and my husband hates me because of it lol. I am absolutely diving head first into the lore of the the musical and even watched a video talking about the original book [Omg, right?] and can't wait to see the film multiple times. My sister and I are actually stopping in Calgary to see it together on our way to Vancouver to see Taylor!
The Producers is up there with Hairspray for me! I know the whole script off by heart and the choreo!!!!! Honestly please give it another watch it has me howling!!! 😂 love the video 💜
I agree with the placement only because I’m not a huge fan of Matthew Broderick. He’s kind of overrated as a performer. He’s a decent actor, but I just don’t think as a singer he’s that good
Does Moulin Rouge with Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor count in your musical criteria? It's my favorite movie and I would love to hear your opinion on it! 😃
@@crisceewillcutt7296 i need to watch it!! My best friend as a kid loved it but for some reason i had a memory of it being sad or scary so i never watched? I vow to give it a go!!
same!!!
@@AllySheehan you have to watch it! It’s one of my favorite musical movies ever
@@AllySheehan It’s not really scary but is a bit sad (though it tells you up front how it’s going to end). It’s imo the best modern movie musical, in that it embraces stylism in all the right ways.
Elephant Love Medley in itself is god tier. 👌🏼As well as Come What May. 🥹👏🏼
As a staunch Greatest Showman defender since the age of nine seeing it opening weekend in theaters, you're absolutely correct
Was soooo bummed that Newsies didn't make the year cut off (please tell me you’ve seen this masterpiece) but otherwise a perfect video and the swiftie to theater nerd venn diagram is def just heart hands. Adore you and all the work you put into these 🍿💓
The Newsies original movie was in the 90s… so it didn’t fall into her criteria 😢
@ ...lol, I know, that was the very first thing I said.
You need a part 2!!!! So many exceptional ones are left out, arguably the best of the best!!!
maybe if this video does well i can watch the films i haven't seen and make a part 2!
please let les mis be number 1@@AllySheehan
@@AllySheehanthis is exactly what I was thinking would be a perfect part two! Can I request Newsies? No worries tho if you're not interested. Watch what you want, it's your time.
I'm not even done with the video, but the editing on this is going straight to god tier!!!!
ally, i would love to see you rank movie musicals pre-2000s now! i'm so invested
Maybe Golden Age musicals and then others (aka original Newsies… and I can’t think of another one pre-2000s atm)?
i have so much to say (mostly about wicked) omg i loved the video (swiftie and musical fan)
jon m chu did say that he intentionally made the colour in wicked to be duller so that it feels more like real life and u connect with the characters even more. i think the extra lighting in dancing through life actually compliments the song because it shows how bright and enjoyable fiyero is, so he brings light to the characters. (just personal view)
ALSO the fact galinda clicks the ruby slippers 3 times like dorothy. like i literally loved the easter eggs in wicked!
i think DEH should have gotten higher on the list 😢 ik it pales in comparison to the stage musical but i still BAWLED during so big/ so small, and the acting was great too
IK THIS IS RLLY LONG BUT I JUST HAD A LOT TO SAY
also you can try watching les mis and phantom of the opera. although both r not the best musical movie adaptations in my opinion the songs and singing is so slayyyy
I went to see the Greatest Showman twice back to back the week it came out. It changed me in ways I’ll never recover, so happy I’m not the only one
The "So Close" dance scene from Enchanted is just fantastic.
Carrie Underwood singing Ever Ever After at the end of Enchanted will, too, always make me cry 🥲
it is EVERYTHINGGG
Have you not seen Moulin Rouge? So happy you love Enchanted. I hope you do an older musicals ranking someday, and I hope you've seen White Christmas and Singing in the Rain.
no i haven't!! i think i was very young when it came out and something about it scared me haha, i need to check it out!!
22:04 well Taylor’s Vigilante sh*t dance was fossy inspired, the choreographer of Chicago
it was a joke, she knows it's the other way around ^_^
@ sorry I sometimes miss the joke
@@r.s.9239 all good, i often do too :)
That’s what she meant lol
First full video of yours I’ve taken in (to my knowledge), so first off, love the vibes and your presentation.
The list feels very modern, I’d love to see some classics like Singin’ in the Rain and West Side Story (one or both versions) to see how the sensibilities have changed.
I did enjoy your picks and placement, for the most part. There’s also a very contemporary (as in last 20 years) made for TV movie musical that I recommend to any theatre stans: Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical. It’s darkly satirical and has some fairly shocking moments, but if you like great choreography, singing, and an ensemble that understands the assignment (Ana Gasteyer is somehow overacting and wooden at the same time, and it completely works), and you’ve got a real hidden gem.
Finally, I thought I’d take a crack at your spec casting for a Legally Blonde movie musical version (I love the stage show quite a bit too), aiming for a few big names to help with funding, but mainly sticking with talent that could actually pull it off.
Elle Woods: Sophie Isaacs
Emmett Forrest: Mike Faist
Paulette: Amy Adams
Prof. Callahan: Anthony Stewart Head (Buffy)
Warner Huntington III: Jeremy Jordan or Derek Klena
Vivienne Kensington: Anna Kendrick
Brooke Wyndham: Annaleigh Ashford
Enid: Caitlin Kinnunen
Kyle: Total Stunt Casting here, but for a 2-3 day shoot, John Hamm.
Serena: Gracie Abrams
Margot: Sabrina Carpenter
Pilar: Shanice Williams
That was fun. Enjoy the new year!
hi new friend!! thank you so much :))) you might have missed the intro to this video at 0:58 i explain this video will be ranking modern movie musicals since there are so many throughout history!
mike faist as emmett is INSPIRED
@@AllySheehanYou’re absolutely right, I did miss that. That’s what I get for trying to work and video essay at the same time.
My friend (also named Bob) routinely watch musicals together and do spec casting for projects (and he’s much more musically inclined and talented, whereas I’m just a classics guy), and ever since Spielberg’s West Side Story, Faist has been a repeat offender on our spec lists.
The Producers is one of my favorite musical movies. I know people say it doesn't hold a candle to the Broadway production, but I've never seen it, so I can't compare!
I'd love to see Spring Awakening, Next to Normal, Book of Mormon, and Avenue Q as movies.
PLEASE the greatest showman is one of my favorite movies (if not THE one) i will stand by it with my whole life and no one will ever change my mind
The phantom of the opera should be on that list as well 😊
As a BIG musical fan, I'm soooo excited to see my favorite youtuber talking about it
i hope we can still be friends after!!
@AllySheehan we totally can, I stand by your the greatest showman opinion 🫡
Phantom of the Opera and RENT were the movie adaptations that sparked my love for Broadway musicals! Your rankings were spot on for me 😊
I’m curious where Phantom and Across the Universe fall on your list?
LOVE these rankings!!!! Haven’t watched all of these but you have motivated me to watch them
ah i'm excited for you!!
29:46 I had never seen Wicked before the movie, I really wanted to see it cause i like other movie musicals, i wanted to do the whole dress pink and green thing and I had seen Cynthia sing defying gravity and was FLOORED she is so talented. Anyway genuinely one of the best movies I've seen this year and i would definitely go see the stage production. Ariana and Cynthia did such a good job. I've been listening to the soundtrack so much since and the only songs i knew previous to watching was Defying gravity and Popular but i have a newfound love for Dancing through life and What is this feeling?
i'm SO glad to hear that someone who didn't know the plot and story and songs loved it!! i feel like it stands alone as its own film so much better than any other "part one" too
@@AllySheehan It was amazing! Even my aunt who isn't really a "Movie person" loved it. I dressed in Pink and she was green. We thought the movie was "camp" but in an amazing way.
@ i feel if a movie musical isn’t at least a little camp, they’re doing it wrong!!
@@AllySheehanYes! I love a Camp movie
OMG SO GOOD. Ally fr pls pls pls do more videos like this. I love all the TS stuff too ofc but I miss movie/TV content!!!!
Fun fact! Burlesque actually is now a stage musical, it premiered in the uk and hopefully will be on other stages at some point it’s a great show!. Also nyada isn’t actually a real school but fun nod to glee 😂.
Our high school is currently doing Chicago, today is their third night of doing it, I went to go see it yesterday and it was seriously so incredible, so I appreciate the ranking for it
This was fun! And if you haven’t seen Little Shop you definitely have to check that one out. Also, either of the West Side Stories!!
🍿
My friends were OBSESSED with Rent in high school, and I remember being forced to see the movie many times against my will.
I saw the stage version of Wicked years ago, and barely remember anything, but I absolutely loved the movie. I want to see it on stage again (& the movie!)
And yes, Burlesque is highly under appreciated.
HAHA i'm so sorry that your friends were just like me
Rent and Wicked were the musicals my theatre classmates loved.
I LOVE Burlesque
How haven't you watched Les Mis! one of the best adaptions and I adore both the film and the show, the cast is phenomenal
Seriously! 😂
Yes! Also Phantom of the Opera!! That had a moment back in 2004!
@@rebeccamiller2267 I love phantom,it’s just iconic
For real!!
Your edits are iconic and I’m obsessed
What a relief to see a ranking video that isn’t just incessantly negative, subscribed 👍
aw thank you so much!!
Bring It On would also be a movie made into stage musical made into movie musical. I guess you have a type. :) (I would watch that too, btw. The original Bring It On is one of my guilty pleasures!)
Totally on board with Enchanted being god tier (Disenchanted is pretty bad, sadly). Into the Woods would also be up there in my own ranking. Not even mentioning Emily Blunt in that film is a crime! :) And did you miss her Mary Poppins? (Though I wouldn't really recommend it).
Now here's a consideration regarding The Greatest Showman (which is what prevents me from even beginning to entertain its merits as a movie). Imagine a movie with the best songs, the perfect cast, the greatest cinematography. It's a banger, it's wonderful, it's one of the best musicals ever made. But it's about Harvey Weinstein being celebrated as an epic hero of show business. He's played by an attractive charmer and there's a casting couch scene where an actress strip-dances for him but she's portrayed as having fun while he's singing a song. Would you look past that and still appreciate the production? Because the only reason they got away with portraying P.T. Barnum the way they did is because he's been dead for 130 years. One day, Harvey Weinstein's story could be sanitized the same way to remember him only as the guy who made Pulp Fiction and Shakespeare in Love.
you are so right about many many things, i just can't watch greatest showman the same way after learning what they did to our beloved jeremy jordan!!
You should do a “Types Of Theatre Kid Bows” short. To bring out your INNER theatre kid.
I just saw wicked and I had never seen the play (and had very little knowledge of the play going into it) and i absolutely loved it!! I can not wait for next year and im already planning on going to watch it again soon!!!
Chicago is my all time favourite movie musical! I used to watch it on VHS when I was a little kid and it made me feel so empowered!
Also another easter egg you have to listen to One Short Day from Wicked the Movie not the musical to catch it but why Elphaba let out the battle cry because in the prophesy for who can read the grimmerie Kristen's charcater says "Once more will sing out joyous" then Idena lets out her battle cry so its for shadowing that Elphaba can read the grimmerie and will let out a battle cry.
like don’t get me wrong ur taylor content is amazing but i LOVE ur other videos toooooo i been here since the BEGGINNNINGG before taylor and o love all ur vids
As a Swiftie and theater lover, this video 🥳 but where was Phantom of the opera? Moulin rouge? Les miserable? I have a bias because I was obsessed with Phantom and moulin rouge but they are by far my favorite movie musicals 🍿
38:30 Easy Street with Kathy Bates, Alan Cumming, and Kristin Chenoweth is absolutely ICONIC
YES
Fun fact about me: I am a theatre kid at heart, and Wicked was the first musical my mom introduced me to. Because I didn’t see Broadway-level performances in childhood, I pledged to myself that I wouldn’t see Wicked until there was a good movie version made or until I could go to Broadway to see it, and I can tell you that it absolutely stood on its own without fully knowing the musical version. I listened to the music growing up, but I did not know the scenes, so I was in utter shock the whole first time I saw it. When I went the second time with a friend, it was just so amazing. I’m glad I’m not alone in thinking that the movie somehow got better the second time around.
You need to make a video of all time classic musicals and include SOUND OF MUSIC & GREASE, MARY POPPINS??? 😮😮
my love did you possibly skip past 0:58 haha?
@ no lol. I saw that but I think another video of the classics that you watched would be fun
BIGGEST BRAG: my drama teacher was Ali, Sophie’s friend in Mamma Mia!
omg she SLAYYYEDDDDDD i hope she had the most fun filming!
Love all these rankings but ALLY!!! Where’s “Color Purple”??? That one is sooo good and it always makes me bawl my eyes out😭
"The Producers" is absolutely amazing, I love the humor!
i jumped for joy when i saw christians emmett I LOVE HIM SM
I LOVE the Greatest Showman too and will never understand how people can hate on this film. Okay, PT Barnum was a bad person, but the message of the movie is mostly an hymn to diversity and acceptance. And all the songs are just SO GOOD! Like you that movie introduction gives me chills every time.
Also, I just saw Wicked last night having only seen The Wizard of Oz and the 2012 movie with James Franco, and I LOVED it! Defying Gravity, Popular, and Not that girl are now leaving rent free in my head. I might go back and see it a second time this weekend.
Great video again Queen 💖🍿
I don't hate the movie I just couldn't stomach it because I did an in-depth remote on P.T. Barnum BUT did I listen to the soundtrack endlessly... you bet I did. I did eventually watch he movie and it is an amazing movie musical.
I am both a swiftie and a musical girlie! We are truly an unhinged bunch! 😂
i absolutely have to say a BIG thank you for putting enchanted so high. it is sososo slept on and is quite literally one of my most favorite movie musicals of all time. much respect ally 🤍🤍
Ally I could not agree with you more in terms of your greatest showman opinion. My friends are always like "its not that good" or "the plot is bad" I'm just like GIRL HAVE YOU HEARD THE SONGS!? The plot would probably go into NYADA for me but the songs... GOD TIER no question.
Edit: Also, I'm not sure if this would fit in this video, actually no I don't think this counts as a movie musical. That being said, can you please make a video discussing Pitch Perfect 1, 2, and 3?
I love Greatest Showman, it is so good!!! The songs are amazing, and I actually love the story too. I think if you just separate it from the real-life drama and appreciate the movie on its own, it is definitely god tier! Also am a Swiftie and LOVE all 3 Pitch Perfect movies 😄
Omg that’s so awesome!
The songs are literally the most out-of-place, self-indulgent, pompous, generic pieces of bland ass ever.
@@lubis1991 not in my opinion please don't say that to me
@@Heypeople1234 It's MY opinion and last Ì checked, this is a free platform.
Hearing you say the greatest showman god tier saved me. I also paid to watch it 3 times and still get full body chills and cry I do have to disagree with the prom though. It has a soft place in my heart. It’s just very heartwarming
Ooo - your comments about Mean Girls make me so excited because we loved the movie (it took me a couple watches). I'm taking my daughter to see it in April and the little clips you showed as evidence of making the songs more tame make me so happy. Because the scene after the art competition and I'd Rather Be Me are my most favorite parts and those sound similar to the clips! I'm excited.
oh you will have the BEST time!
🍿🍿🍿 I think Mamma Mia is m favorite!! I grew up a big ABBA fan cause of my dad and that movie is so comforting. Also, I’ll come back to see the Wicked part of the video once I’ve seen it this week! Very excited!
30:34 I actually really enjoyed dancing through life but also completely get where your coming from I do love Jonathan Bailey tho so I might be a bit bias lol
see i adore him and thought it was so sad they spoiled his big number like that!
yeah I agree
Great content ally but where is MOULIN ROUGE?
Yes!! Ally will certainly have to do a part 2 episode on musicals suggested. ❤🐘
I was going to comment that! One of my favorite musicals ❤
There's also Phantom of the Opera (my favorite musical), Les Mis, Dreamgirls... We definitely need a part 2! 😂
THANK YOU for starting with Hairspray and giving it the ranking it DESERVES. absolute top
comfort movie
I hadn’t seen anything Wicked related before going to see the movie and I LOVED it! Been listening to the soundtrack nonstop and have turned into an Arian Grande fan. I think she truly shines in the movie! Her vocals and comedic timing are on point.
Loved Cynthia and Jonathan too of course, because, how could I not?
I truly didn’t have any issue with the colour grading, but when you show the clips, they do look duller to me than how I saw it at the cinema? I wonder if maybe there’s a difference between regional version (I’m from Belgium) or maybe I’m just easily impressed haha
Holding space for this video ❤
i didn;t know that was something that was happening... wow
i saw wicked in melbourne this year on stage and fell in love!! saw wicked at a preview and literally cried my eyes out!! also love hair spray !! thank you for making this video im really starting to get musicals and so great see a melb girlie!! 💞🫧🧹🍿
I promise it is not ageist to say "I legit just can't vibe with a 30-something-year-old man trying to play a teenaged boy, it just isn't believable" because MOOD girl. Also I'm so with you on Greatest Showman. \o/
There’s so many movies and shows where people that are in their mid 20s and early 30s play teenagers. It’s a ridiculous argument.
Like for example, Rachel McAdams was 26 when she was casted in Mean Girls. That’s not a teenager, but nobody batted an eye. Ben Platt did a fantastic job.
Also, Kaitlyn Dever (Zoe Murphy) was 25 when she was in Dear Evan Hansen… Also not a teenager, yet nobody complained about her. It’s just not a good reason to hate on a musical that was well written and has great music.
saw wicked thrice on stage and when i tell you i was not mentally prepared for what i was about to watch when it comes to the movie oh you have no idea. literally monumental. i cried so much especially during the ozfest scene
I loved your video
I’ve always thought that the reflection of your glasses is super pretty, it’s almost rainbowish and looks like part of your eyeshadow 🩷
aw thank you!!
You just earned a subscriber😄 This was so much fun to watch. Theatre kids unite
aww yay, welcome!!
I love this video!! I recently went to the movies and watched wicked and it was so good, I don’t normally like musicals but this one was really good Cynthia and Ariana are so talented!! it made me tear up a few times! love your channel btw!! you’re amazing!! I hope you had an amazing Christmas!❤️🫶🏻 thank you for all of the hard work you put into your videos! I can’t wait to watch more amazing content from you!! I also love enchanted, it’s one of my favorites and the sound of music!!
24:23 no, I don’t respect when they completely change the makeup of a piece from the musical. That literally takes the originality that it had. I just wish Hollywood would stop screwing around with concepts that were already fine.
Honestly i truly thought people were beign dramatic when they were so obsessed with wicked when it came out, but after watching it super late last week, i get it. I dont know how to explain it, but when i listen to the soundtrack for this movie, especially the wizard and i and defying gravity, i get so emotional. Its so gut wrenchingly good, and i dont understand how or why i am so affected by this movie. The one scene that i feel no one really talks about but to me was such a beautiful but sad scene is when elphaba is singing about there being a celebration in oz that's all about her, is so so impactful, i was uncontrollably sobbing during that part. Im a huge fan of cynthia and ariana after this movie and i cant wait for the next part
BRING IT ON THE MUSICAL MENTIONED!!! I don't understand how it is so underrated like it's so good
my favorite musicals
1. Les Mierables (i was also in this with a community theater)
2. Mary Popins ( it was my late grandmother's favorite and I remember watching it with her)
3. Hello Solly ( I was in this musical with my high school earlier this year, and our cast won the Rita Moreno Awards for best musical. And my friend Mitchell won for best actor and he actually went to the Jimmys!)
👋🏻 I'm a theatre kid that never saw the original Wicked show. After watching the movie, I can see what all of the hype is about! I'm very aware of the premise of the show, but I didn't know the plot really at all. I am so excited for the part 2 and the songs have been stuck in my head. I love it!!
Loved this.
I will now sit and wait for you to do THIS but every musical before the 2000s.
Yes. You read it.
so i went into the wicked part one movie pretty much blind, aside from a few small details i knew! i was really excited because i’d heard of the musical a bunch but still hadn’t listened to it by the time the movie came out and i figured i’d go in blind. i honestly thought it was amazing and a magical experience, it was nice being surprised by the twists, and now i want to see the stage version :) I wanna know what happens in part two so bad but also wonder if I should go in blind again hahaha
its honestly surprising that I hadn’t heard or seen the musical yet but I didn’t grow up near anywhere that I could really go see musicals, so I think that was definitely part of it
OH YM GOD SOMEONE WHO ALSO LOVES BRING IT ON THE MUSICAL!! My high school performed it last year as our spring show and it was just so fun!! Glad you love it too :)
