    Dustin,my frameless 36x72 has the flat/towel bar, they removed them so they could clean,the bottom track,when they put back on,the 30" chrome,flat bar,on the door,had a chrome piece,on each end of the flat chrome bar.ok the screws,on each of the bar,are tight.but the chrome brackets,are loose letting the flat outside piece,of the 30" bar,slide from one end to the other????

    Yessss...👍 this was so helpful. This doctor I work for has no clue in how to repair things. And he just asked me if my brother could come and see if he could fix his shower door handle.
    So I'm pretty handy myself. So I DIY You Tubed it. And voila...here's the solution.

    Mine used to have plastic washers which sat between the handles and the glass. They lasted less than a year. Do I need to replace these washers, or will tightening alone do the trick? Thanks! Great, to-the-point video.

    • @absolutegrappler
      @absolutegrappler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those washers keep the metal off the glass directly. I highly recommend getting replacements.

    Question: I removed the lower half following your lead, but the allen key isn't loosening the top part as it appears the screw rounded. How to proceed if the allen key isn't making the screw turn?

    • @absolutegrappler
      @absolutegrappler  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a problem. You will need to get that Allen out. You might want to try a star bit or a flat head driver that fits corner to corner to remove it. Then replace it completely. A stripped Allen screw is a problem.

  • @okielawnguy
    @okielawnguy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Finally figured it the size need for the Allen wrench. It’s a 2.5 mm. Got the handle off, but how do I keep the screw going into the handle from just falling through the 2 holes in the glass. Whoever installed it originally put washers on the door side opposite the screw head if that makes sense. Then no matter how tight it is, the screws just fall out of the holes making it incredibly difficult to hold both handles while trying to tighten the Allen wrench set screws. Should the washer be on the door side of the screw head or even have two clear washers on both sides? Thanks for your time.

    • @absolutegrappler
      @absolutegrappler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There should be an escutcheon plate on each side that keeps the screws from falling through the holes!

    • @okielawnguy
      @okielawnguy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@absolutegrappler i just looked up escutcheon plate. It doesn’t have that at all. They just put one clear plastic washer on one side of the top of the inside & outside handle.

    I have a single sided handle that is loose, there's a tiny hole on the button that holds it in place - is this a hole for an Allen wrench? It's much smaller than 2.5mm

    • @absolutegrappler

      Every manufacturer has a different Allen setup. I haven't seen a security screw used, which is what it sounds like you're describing, but it's possible. Sorry that's not the help you were looking for.

    Why not tell us the size of the allen wrench????

    • @absolutegrappler

      James Lepore because there are multiple manufacturers of handles and they don’t always use the same size Allen. Also Allen wrenches come in a set so you should have them all!!

    • @absolutegrappler
      @absolutegrappler  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Anna! The allen wrench size is 2.5mm. That's the small set screw that you start with. Then you'll need a #3 Phillips to tighten the large screws on the inside of the handle. I hope this helps.
