- Too good to not share! I absolutely hate to weave in ends so I color change using the magic knot. Such a time saver and no pesky yarn ends will come peeking out after a few washes. Check out my Amazon affiliates links for some crochet must haves!

I have seen many many videos show how to do the magic knot. Almost none show how to actually use it to use it to change colors at the end/start of another color stripe. Thank you so much!!! Excellent explanation and demonstration! ❤ New sub!
Thank you! So glad it was helpful. And thank you for subbing!
Perfect explanation! New sub here, too.
@@sharonopstbaum1023 thank you! 🤗
Very confusing
The last bit was enlightening ❤
Moving the magic knot to a better position is just brilliant!!
I’ve been doing the magic knot and just fudging where the knot is made and, yes, trying to pull the knot through the stitch.
And the secret is not to pull both yarns, but just the working yarn.
Thank you!!
So glad you found it helpful! Thank you for watching 🤗
Yesssss, Exactly why I've not used it much. But THIS 😮❤ WOW!! I'm gonna practice this TODAY 😊
THANK YOU for Sharing this technique!!
@@regeenapz thank you! So glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching! 🤗
What's so great for me regarding your demonstration is that there is now a video that I can keep in my arsenal for the times I forget how to adjust the knot! I truly appreciate this. Thanks so much!
Thats great! So glad you found this helpful. Thank you for watching! 🙂
Thank you for this wonderful tip! I have found when using knots that are trimmed close, using a drop or two of Fray Check on it will help take any worries of it eventually coming undone, It dries a bit stiff, but will soften and become unnoticeable after a couple of washings. It is made by Dritz and is found in the sewing notions area. It is just an idea to give that extra feeling of security for yourself.
Great idea! Thank you 🤗
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I love the fact you don't have to weave in the yarn ends!
My pleasure! Thank you for watching 🤗
I agree about the dark colors of the yarns. I will add that the patterned background is distracting.
I love joining this way when I need to join the same color or using yarn in random stripes but never could join the way you demonstrated. This is a game changer. Off to practice, lol. I’ll be 84 in December so you are never too old to learn! Thanks so much!
🤩 thank you! Good luck!
I love the absolute accuracy of placement for your magic knot and color change. This is a great tutorial. Thank you.
Thank you! And thank you for watching 🤗
This is the method I use. It’s easy to hide the knot…and it’s much more secure. Growing up with my moms, afghans, coming apart in areas…I have always worried about that happening to mine. So I learned this knot technique, when I first taught myself to crochet. You did a great job, teaching others to do it 🩷
Thank you for the kind words! And thank you for watching
I’m definitely going to practice this! I hate to change colors due to the weaving ❤
Just be patient! It is sooo worth it!
OH! I know it’s one! It’s SO EASY and you can trim the knot ends ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE KNOT ITSELF and it will not come undone! It’s a fantastic join!!
Thank you! 🤗
Old dog just learned a new trick. 😂 Thank you.
lol that’s awesome! Thank you For watching! 🤗
Fantastic tutorial! Simplified & clear! Thank you!
Thank you! 🤗
I’ve seen this before on another channel but never tried using it because the tutorial didn’t quite explain it good enough. But your tutorial is great. Thank you so much!!! I hate weaving ends but now, thanks to you, I am definitely trying this method.
Great video!!!!!!!
Thank you for watching! Glad it was helpful for you. 🤗
Thanks so much for tutorial! Very helpful - I too hate weaving in ends of yarn! Thanks again!❤
Thank you! And thanks for watching 🤗
I feel the same. Love the color changes in patterns, yet, hated having to weave in a strings. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Hope this helps save you some time!
I knew how to make a magic knot, but never heard of or thought of using this instead of weaving in ends. I just started a project similar to a temperature blanket with colour changes for every row and this came across my feed. What perfect timing! Now I'll only have the ends to weave in for the 7 rows I've completed so far the rest will be done like this! Thanks so much for this tutorial!
So glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching 🤗
I've been doing this for quite a while now, and i love it.
I didn't know that only one yarn moved though. i thought it was both 😮😁
Thanks for watching! 🤗
As someone who just finished a ripple baby blanket and has sooo many ends to weave in, I wish I had found you sooner 😂. THANK YOU for this wonderfully done explanation that even a novice (like me!) can follow ❤️
Aww ☺️ that’s what made me start doing this! I made a ripple queen size for my oldest daughter and just couldn’t handle all the ends! Thank you for the kind words and for watching! 🤗
Fantastic, a life saver. You have just changed the face of crochet !!! Thank you
Thank you! And thanks for watching 🤗
I use this knot all the time. Very durable and tight. Hides super well. I use to when i start a new skein. This is very smart idea, will definitey be using it
That’s great! So glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching! 🤗
I always used this method for joining yarns of same colours. Will try it for joining other colours. It will be a challenge. Thank you👋🇨🇭!
@@luxmifrei9759 good luck! I seldom do color change any other way! Thank you for watching 🤗
I finally figured this knot. It's a fancy term for a Square Knot or a Reef Knot! Thank you ever so much!!!
Glad it helped! Thank you for watching 🤗
I've 💕 Luved this knot too. Great 👍 Demonstration! Always remember, your Left yarn ends up continuing to the Left; & your Right yarn continues to the Right!
Thanks for watching🤗
I think this is the knot demonstrated for connecting braided fencing "rope" on Greg Judy Regen Ranching. It allows the metal strands in the braid to touch. I use it in fence lines, knitting, and crochet, too... versatile!
This is the best demostration and technique to change colors at the end of a row I have seen! I don't like to change colors because I dread hiding all those ends when done with a project. This is awesome! The algorythm showed the video in my feed and I stopped scrolling out of curiosity. So glad I did! I liked that you take your time, I mean, that even in your voice I know you are in no hurry to end the video. You just want to be clear and teach us how you do what you do. My anxiety really appreciates your soothing voice. 😂 You have a new subscriber! ❤
Aww thank you! That’s very kind. Appreciate you watching and subscribing! 🤗
Great job of explaining and showing. I used to have to play with my magic joining until it was as close to where it was supposed to be!!! Thank you again, love it!!!
Aww thanks! So glad it helped. Thank you for watching!☺
Really good tutorial. I love your teaching style. Thanks for showing us a few times- it really helps.
Thank you! So glad it was helpful for you.
If I find Im slightly out with where the knot ends up I adjust my tension. Pull out 4 or 5 sts & then slightly change ur tension to move the knot to where you need it to finish up. Too far thru the last stitch then slightly loosen ur tension in the last few sts, if the knot ends up thru the last stitch a tad too early then slightly tighten ur tension. Its a very tiny adjustment in the last 4-5ish sts that can change where ur knot ends 🙂
Absolutely! Thanks for watching! 🤗
This is by far the best video showing how to do this! I appreciate this so much
Thank you! 🤗 hope it helps!
Thank you for the video. You are right, I don't do striped projects because of the color changes. Now I am going to try this out. Thank you again!
Hope it works out for you! Thanks for watching! 🤗
This is very similar to a fisherman's knot that I used for a flagpole line. Very cool.
❤❤❤ Knew how to do the magic knot, but didn’t know how to get the knot to a specific spot before. Many many thanks 😊😊😊 !!!!!
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful. Thank you for watching!
It took me a couple of tries, but I finally got it! Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial… it is truly a game changer for me! I really hate it when I wash my afghans, and then have to re-weave all the loose ends back in! Bye-bye loose ends!
Great! So glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching 🤗
Fantastic tutorial. I never knew how to get it right at the end of the row. Thank you 🙏
Great! So glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching! 🤗
Thank you SO much for sharing this tutorial! It has helped me tremendously!
❤😊❤
That’s great! So glad you found it helpful. Thank you for watching! 🤗
I have been crocheting since I was 7 years old.
And I have been crocheting over the loose yarns so I never have any ends ever because I crochet over all the extra yarns.
Yes I used to do this but they can tend to work themselves loose over time.
Great demonstration--easy to understand. Thank you!😊
Thank you! And thanks for watching! 🤗
I use this technique all the time, and it never comes apart. With most yarns works in well with crochet.
I’ve never had one come apart either. Thanks for watching! 🤗
This will be great to use on granny squares!
Absolutely!!
Hi, you've been so clear to explain and speach . I'm Italian and thanks for this tutorial. Lidia
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. 🤗
Thank you Mama. 😊
Thanks for watching 🤗
This is great. You are so easy to understand. I've seen others explain this but this is much better. Thanks!
Thank you! And thanks for watching 🤗
Thank you for this. I’m self taught so I get resistant to learning new things but this is just too helpful to ignore. I’ve even taught myself to join wool by unraveling the ends and respinning it together a fee inches. This is less headachy.
So glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching 🤗
Wow, Thank you, I'am new can't wait to see more of your work.
Thank you for watching!
That is awesome!! Yay! You have save us all hours of time!

Wow that is a great tip thank u so much for sharing. I’ll definitely try this technique in my next project w/ a color change.

So glad it was helpful!
Thank you SO much! I knew the knot tying technique, but not at ends! I subscribed!🤍🙂
Thank you for watching and subscribing! Glad it was helpful 🤗
Thank you I will definitely try it. A suggestion I’d like to make is to perhaps swap the dark purple yarn for a lighter colour. It would be easier to see the stitches then
Thank you! Big lesson learned 🤗 I thought the dark light contrast would work to show the knots. Thanks for the suggestion! And thanks for watching!
Hi Mama J I love how you change colour and how you join the yarn. That's fabulous. That's how I'm gonna do it from now on. Thanks for sharing. I've subscribed to your channel because I like your videos and you have a pleasant speaking voice. Hugs

Russion join = no knots and no extra tails
Yes this is another option but those ends do tend to fray. But definitely an alternative option to the knot.
I have always heard about this join but could never figure it out for colour changing as I could never work out how to get it placed where I wanted the knot to be. So I only used it when I needed to change same coloured yarns when making a large project such as a blanket. Your explanation and video showing how to work out where to place it was freakin’ brilliant! I have been crocheting for near enough 50 years and I hate sewing in all the ends with a pretty colour changing blanket so I tend to make envelope borders to hide them away, so this is going to be a game changer for me!
Thank you so much for this! I have subscribed on this video alone…I cannot wait to watch the other videos. Also, I would like to thank you for allowing the closed caption. I am disabled with a spinal injury and bedbound. I don’t get to sleep much these days and so get on my tablet while hubby is sleeping next to me with the sound off. The channels with subtitles allowed are the ones I watch while the family is sleeping. It sounds silly, but I get excited when I find a new channel I can add to be nighttime list as there do not seem to be a lot of them around. So I appreciate you allowing it.
Sending love and appreciation from the Highlands of Scotland. ❤
Thank you so much for watching and your kind words! So glad it will be helpful for you! Nice to know the CC’s work. Thank you for watching and subscribing! Sending cheers and well wishes from US South East area! 🤗

Wonderful! So glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching! 🤗
I’m doing a temperature blanket too. Must try this!
@@Carolyn-qd8mj hope you find it helpful!! Thanks for watching. 🤗
@@Carolyn-qd8mj so I struggled with this because the knot kept popping out and in an attempt to hide it it unraveled so I kinda ended up with a problem I was able to fix it somewhat just looks a tad bulky in that area. I had to add more yarn over it so ensure it wouldn't come undone. So just be careful! And just don't mess with it like I did 😅.
thank you
