Split the batch!!! Made a 5-6 gallon batch last month and about to rack it. Didn't have enough headspace after adding yeast... lets just say my wine had a party! It bubbled over. I was creating a video on how to make wine from grapes I harvested...now that I'm watching this one it will be what NOT to do lol, thank you for these great videos.

Thank you so much!! I love your videos! They are so easy to follow, and you have introduced me to a really fun hobby. So far, I’ve made mango, pineapple, and blueberry, and each one is delicious!! 🍷 You gave me the confidence to try!
Great stuff, loving it!! Had I watched this video first, I probably would've divided my grapes into two 3 gallon batches and added some water and sugar, just as you did. Instead I did it like a barbarian, or as they say; method traditionale haha! No water, stuffed everything into one large bucket. Oh well...if you like bold wine, you should try mine lol! Thankfully Pinot Noir is more subtle than Merlot or Cab Sauvignon, so it's great! Can't wait for the next video...yess!
You were right not to add water. My Zindanfel is really good with 14% alcohol and I added no sugar. You don’t add water to wine grapes when fermenting and you only add sugar when your alcohol potential is low so you test before you add sugar. So you did the right thing with your Pinot. I hope enjoy it.
@@markstevens7838 Great, thanks man! Mine is also 14%. I was shooting for 13.5% but it ended lower than my grapes usually do - at 0.992. Don't mind the 14% ABV tho at all. No sugar on my part either. The grapes alone were at 23°Brix ..slightly over in fact. Cheers!
I’m not sure if this is the right place for this comment but here is a request. I have two of your recipes going now and want to start a fall flavored wine. Can you guys experiment with some sort or apple+pumpkin type flavor? I don’t see a lot of pumpkin wine but imagine it’s doable. Thanks!
My apologies if I missed it in the video or the description, but where did you get the grapes? Do you have any recommendations or suggestions where to purchase grapes for home wine making?

How are you using tap water? Is yours from a well? We have rural and it’s so chlorinated I rather buy spring water from store for the minerals in it as I would think chemicals from my tap water would mess with the yeast and fermentation process.
If you have poor water quality yes buy water with minerals. Do not use ro water as wine needs minerals. Chlorine will not affect yeast as never did for me. I use regular tap water no issues.
Prior to viewing your wine grape video I started my wine grapes, but I left some grape stems in mesh bags plus I used wine tannins. Will my wine still be okay?
I have been looking for a video from you about how to make a small batch blush from grapes. I have both red and white muscadine grapes and wanted to know how to do that. I’m not even sure how many pounds of grapes I would need for this either. I have made some of your other small batch wines but would appreciate any help in this since it would be my first time trying to make a blush. Thank you.
Hey.. it’s me again… lol… in your 4 part video on making wine with mixed berries, you used 11 lbs. of sugar. In this video, you are saying 2 lbs. per gallon. That would be 10 lbs. of sugar for 5 gallons. Are there different amounts of sugar to use for different fruits? Thanks so much!!
Great catch. 👍👍 I always use 2 pounds per gallon and always the same for all fruits. In that 4 part series if you read recipe in description says 10 to 11 pounds..... you can add a little more sugar if want a higher abv. But never do less than 2 pounds per gallon.
I ran out of PETIC ENZYNE. I have about 15 gal's remaining. Can I add other ingredients & add in the pectic enzyne when I get some or should I wait till I get some pectic enzyne to add everything at once.
Can I make muscato from regular store bought grapes. Also, I want to make three gallons so i'm not sure the amount of ingredients I need for that. Sugar etc.
Hello again, just to be sure... you said 2 pounds of sugar per gallon ? So it is 6 pounds of sugar for a 3 gallons batch is it? And also these measurements are for all fruits or just for grapes? Malta here . Harold

Removing grapes skins during fermentation is a way to prevent it. Removing methanol from wine is not a practical or safe process for the average person. Methanol is a naturally occurring byproduct of the fermentation process and is present in all alcoholic beverages to some extent

14:42 I've seen a lot of debates on whether to use sink water, filtered water or bottled water. I noticed you used water from the sink. Does it matter what type of water you use?
Unless you have very poor water quality it doesn't matter... believe it or not ... the best wine needs the minerals in Tap water so never good idea to remove the minerals. Great question👍👍🍷🍷
You could have a slight leak in airlock or bucket and wine really needs to get fermenting before notice it... I've done dozens of batches with this yeast and always starts within 24 hours. That's why I keep using it and will not switch.

Whoa Buddy!!! I like a lot of your videos but this is not how you make wine from grapes. You need all grapes, no water. Too much water ruins the wine. Only add sugar after you’ve tested your ABV and you’re deficient. Wine grapes are sweeter than table grapes. Only add Acid if your ph is above 3.6. Approx. 15 lbs of grapes per gallon of wine. Sorry to be such a downer but grape wine is much different than fruit wine. I have turned 100’s of pounds of grapes into quality wine. Freezing the grapes is a good idea. It helps break them down.

Don't knock this until you have tried this. Trust me... I'm a professional. Lol.

I have Amazon Links in all my videos. But each country is different with Amazon.
How are you using tap water? Is yours from a well?

If you have poor water quality yes buy water with minerals. Do not use ro water as wine needs minerals. Chlorine will not affect yeast as never did for me. I use regular tap water no issues.
When you use grapes do you use any flavor additives like a wine kit that puts in oak chips or cubes
You can add that if you like the wood flavor... but thats up to you.. I don't like that flavor.

Nice job, but it is better to use grapes without sugar, water or yeast.. All is included in grapes to make a good wine. Cheers.
So the ABV is controlled by how much water you add? Can you make a stronger wine with less water?
Yes you can make it as strong as you like by adjusting water. Abv is controlled by amount of sugar and water.
Is it ok to use Liquor Quick in the process with grapes, as demonstrated in with other fruit? (Fruit to wine in 30 days)
Oh yeah.
It is a must to freeze the fruits before using? Or just the grapes?
No you don't have too freeze... It just helps to breakdown fruit and release juices.
I don't see where I can purchase some of your product & supplies. Do you have a website I can follow?
