I got to that point, audibly said "you splashed cows until level..." scrolled down, and saw this. Wild. If he was wind striking the whole time, that's 1,425 cows...
OSRS Blind Ironman #5 - full series here: th-cam.com/play/PL0hAOfdoZQkJUdgwTQ-qY_V4Dg7caKs1B.html Apologies for the delay. I got sick! You might hear it in my voice. Got a new WoW series that I'm also working on so should have a nice burst of videos for you here soon :D
I miss playing MMOs like this. But part of the fun of it for me was always talking to other players about it, and that's not really a thing anymore since information is freely available online for any popular game. It's not really a conversation anymore, it's someone citing a guide, assuming they don't ignore you or tell you to google it.
nobody played like this ever in 2004 you would have 20 random people added and you would ask them random questions there was also google and plenty of guide/"cheat" sites not to mention in 2004 ironman wasnt a thing at all
@hazel.hawthorne yeah but back then people wouldn't really care how long things take. Everything feels much slower and people appreciate the game for what it is and not as a point and click medieval wiki simulator it is nowadays
It's hard to express just how authentic your experience of OSRS is. The low run energy, not knowing about negative magic attack, getting coins till the addy long sword, slowly grinding the f2p quests... I love it, and thank you so much. Plus the eating the bread was so hilarious! And relatable!
Party hats are valuable in RS3 because they only released them once, they release them every year in osrs so they didn't repeat the trend of people who played at the beginning getting to just hold onto items that inevitably become ultra rare & valuable.
I'm a year into my first playthrough and went with an Iron account. I made it all the way to fighting Dad the troll before finding out about negative magic stats. I was attacking him with magic in full mithril armour when another player went past and said 'wtf are you doing?'
Eating the quest item is a right of passage. Also, what would you say to the fact that people speedrun that entire sandwich quest in a matter of minutes and seconds?
I found myself absently wondering why I was hearing Goldeneye 64 music while watching a man play runescape talking about his grandparents having sex in 2025. What a world...
If you want to play the game this way and not use runelite, understand that the way we keep track of things for ages is an excel speadsheet and notepad before all our plugins came in game and the wiki (but i understand you are avoiding that) so consider keeping track of started quests and goals and skilling methods this way, you might be the first person in the game to open up activity tracker
I remember when GoodMagic/EvilMagic (and later Magic) didnt have Auto casting. It was always done "manually" every cast up to whatever level. Hence not many having super high magic and those that did had a huge advantage. Til staffs and then some of the big training spells, and obviously later with the Training Area and stuff. But yeah, pretty close to OG Runescape Classic circa 2001 lol.
I’m going to really enjoy this series. RuneScape was my first ever MMO back in 04’ or 05’. I played it for about 3 years before moving onto WoW in the TBC era. I used to ride my bike all the way across town on the weekends to the public library to play it on the PC there. There was a duration limit for the computers, but my friends and I had an agreement with the librarian that we could use them as long as we liked so long as we weren’t impeding anyone that needed to accomplish more important matters. This is still one of my fondest gaming related memories as a kid.
Everyone commenting negatively; this is literally how every single person played the game when it released. No, you didn't know where item spawns were. No, you didn't know the nuances of the different attack styles and bonuses that affect them. You learned those things from someone else or figured it out after hundreds of hours played; exactly how this man is playing. Anyone else who started when OSRS released used online quest guides or literally just quit the game because they couldn't figure something out. If you say you didn't you're either lying, or part of the 5% of gamers who miraculously figured things out. Let the man play the game the way it was created to be played
laughed so freakin' hard at the splashing and also eating the bread for the steak sandwich. goddamn that nostalgia of having to go through that shit. Keep up the awesome work man great humor and commentary and gameplay
So he does know how the stat screen works... Also, there's clearly a Melee, magic and range accuracy and a different one for damage so I can't wait until he discovers that one.
I started an ironman a week and a half ago. I'm stuck on "x marks the spot" too. That split second of showing the cipher suddenly made it click in my head. Now I feel stupid for taking so long to understand lmfao.
Partyhats were released during the 2001 Christmas event in the original RuneScape. They got discontinued and kind of became THE status item to have. Nowadays on RuneScape 3 (the game that continued which osrs continued alongside as) the original partyhats can be worth between 39 and 92 BILLION coins. They did release a Black Partyhat in 2023 during Christmas, which is worth about 15 Billion (as it was a very rare exclusive reward for the event), and a Golden Partyhat worth about 200 million that you could get for trading in 8 shards you could get by completing certain tasks at the end of 2021/beginning of 2022. These were easier to get and still hold about the same value 3 years later.
i like how you dont mind taking your time, back when i picked up osrs for the first time (like 4 years ago) the learning curve for everything in this game was and still is, my most enjoyable mmorpg learning experience, i stopped played only after a few months after starting because of money and time but it was pure kino all the way
Heh loved the little Carl from Aqua Teen in there at the end, you should definitely look into more of them, as you probably know there is perfect sound bites for every situation. Starting off a video like you did in this one but clicking on osrs and hand banana says "Tonight. You." Or something.
Coming into the game now you get into a mix of old content and quests and new ones which is interesting, like the adventurer john guy, the veos treasure hunt quest, murder mystery, are much later additions than the very old beginner quests like dorics quest where you just bring the items and you're done. Feels a bit weird to me seeing the progression happen in this order after having gone through it chronologically over the years myself. But cool to see your perspective on it all! Btw first time seeing your videos. Reminds me a bit of Excl from back in the day.
You really should play with music on! There's a lot of great iconic tracks, and imo it really adds to the whole atmosphere when exploring around the game.
Never thought id see the day where you play osrs man! was an absolute blast watching you try it! best of luck mate enjoy this master piece of a game :)

yo mad, glad to see you found something worth gaming for. i'm on day 5 of my OSRS career. see you at the top brother.
It has been so stressful waiting for him to figure out he had negative magic attack bonus
It was breaking me. Oh man watching it was painful.
I'm so glad he found it.
It was the ONE hint I wanted to give him..."Hey maybe spend some more time looking at your character and equipment stats" :')

I am completely convinced that Madseason and grandparent sex jokes finally convinced Jagex to change run energy

Apologies for the delay. I got sick! You might hear it in my voice. Got a new WoW series that I'm also working on so should have a nice burst of videos for you here soon :D
Take your time! This game isn't going anywhere :)
Can you include big skill ups that you hit? like hitting 20/30/40? Love seeing those milestones!
I thought you seemed more monotone than usual. Great video and feel better mad!
I love how you run past 2 different knife spawns while running to the general store to buy a knife lmao

This is my favorite youtube series atm, happy to see new vids
my jaw dropped when i heard "level 25 magic". he accidentally splashed his way up oh my god that must have taken FOREVER
Splashed with manual casts at that 😂
25 magic levels by clicking every single cast and splashing almost every hit? This truly is monotone madness
Man's spirit was already broken by WoW, he's just fine with the old RS cumbersome time.
I didn’t even notice he wasn’t auto casting 🤣

Nah this is the way to do it. This is how everyone played back in 2004 and watching this feels oddly nostalgic

Level 25 achieved by manually casting wind strike with armor on. I'll see you at the 99 mage party in 2157.
Using a second account to avoid having to talk to people for a quest... now THAT'S the authentic Runescape spirit
Altscape already! Growing up so fast.
I just wonder what he's going to do when he gets to Heroe's Quest

The GEHALA's are off the charts.

MadSeason ignoring the Pot of flour in the Port Sarim shop is peak.
He also ran to the general store to buy a knife when one was in the room with him at 12:44.
It's just like old times haha
Couldn’t care less about WOW but OSRS brought me to your channel. Can’t wait for you to finish this series when I’m middle aged!
I'm already middle aged. I need to take care of my health so I can live long enough to see the end.
Oh no he’s trying to do Shield of Arrav, this can’t end well…
Edit: oh no wait he’s just going to do it himself lmao
Idk why I didn't think of this. I just avoided the quest altogether on my hcim.

12:20 , Name a more iconic duo than Runescape & Eating-quest-items-by-accident
20:05 I can hear Alien Food sobbing from here xD
Good video as always
Madseason has finally learned the art of accidentally eating a food item you need for a quest instead of using it on the object.
Simply brilliant.
Not him passing by a knife right before buying it🤣
My favorite moment is when he needs a knife, runs by one on the table clearly marked at 12:42 and goes and buys one at the general shop 😂
Party hats are valuable in RS3 because they only released them once, they release them every year in osrs so they didn't repeat the trend of people who played at the beginning getting to just hold onto items that inevitably become ultra rare & valuable.
