Very much appreciated MadSeason's game sense. Very quickly he realized that traversal and a limited inventory are key elements of the game's design. A lot of people see these as problems, but real ones know these are very important pieces of a complex and beautiful puzzle.

Can't wait for more of this Series. It's so amazing being able to watch someone experience OSRS blind for the first time. I look forward to learning with you!
I'm actually so excited for this series! I'm a long time OSRS player who's just recently started playing vanilla WOW again in which I've only played expansions on and off casually, so I feel as if I'm doing this but in reverse. Just wiped my entire group because I didn't realise you could pull Captain Greenskin from the boardwalk below, so things are going well!
20 year RS2 (osrs before it was osrs) veteran here. NO SPOILERS btw. It's so refreshing to see the game through the eyes of a beginner OSRS player, but literal professional MMO player. The dichotomy of not knowing how the games specific's mechanics work, but being able to intuit the importance of certain items e.g. the ghostspeak amulet and solve quests blind makes for a really engaging watch.
Long time MadSeason enjoyer and even longer Runescape fiend, super excited to see you going on this journey. There will be frustrations along the way, but can't wait to experience them with you. The journey is definitely more more important than the destination. Completely separate discussion, but I just started reading the Dungeon Crawler Carl series (if you haven't read/ listened to the audiobooks, I'd HIGHLY recommend!) But upon revisiting your channel, you're giving off some serious Carl vibes, which is pretty funny. Keep up the good work!
This is the most interesting osrs Ironman series I have ever seen. Usually the other ironman series are made by people with a lot of experience in the game and they use a lot of plug-ins and guides to help them. But you are doing it completely blind also you are a new player with zero experience, so it makes the videos extremely interesting. Keep it up!
I’m so excited to watch this series and see how you progress. This game has its quirks seeing as it’s 20+ years old, but it’s so damn charming. The quests in RS are the absolute best too. They don’t take themselves too seriously, and they can be quite funny and self aware. They can also be a bit obtuse at times, so I think you’ll struggle with that given your self imposed conditions. But I hope you enjoy your time playing, and I look forward to seeing more. I hope you and yours are well, and I wish you all the best.
Don't particularly care for streaming for the live aspect of it, but it would be nice to have full unedited vods of the journey with the glorious goblin slaughter with you probably not saying anything for 20 minutes included, rather than just the summary of the adventure. Would love to see all the nuance of figuring things out and all the decision making along the way, that may seem too trivial to include in these videos.
I agree, having to cut the majority of the *boring* or *tedious* gameplay is fine for video form of this video. However, I find it incredibly interesting to see how MadSeason navigates the game as a new player. Seeing how he makes decisions, what routes he takes in progression, etc just sounds like a lot of fun (yeah I should get a life).
Osrs just hits diff bro. I played other games like WoW for years, by the time a few dozen/hundred of hours go by I'm bored af. With osrs I'm still having fun & making progress on account thousands of hours in
been a longtime watcher as well as someone who has played both wow and osrs (and rs2 when it was current) since childhood. i know you're not reading comments but super excited for this series
Havent watched the whole video but you can right click and Examine every npc and thing in the game. There are a lot of humorous descriptions and sometimes vital tips for advancing quests.
This game may not have any "kill 10 goblins" quests but you will have to grind for hundreds of hours to be able to do all of them, thousands if you aren't using any guides and haven't played the game before
Can’t wait to watch all of this, it’s gonna be great. Btw, if you haven’t discovered, the weight of your armor DOES have an impact on your stamina. It just doesn’t help to take it off since it’s still in your bags. Your inventory weight slows you down too
Former WoW player current runescape player myself, played WoW from AQ release until partway through Shadowlands, plus classic wow when it came out. Got sick and quit (for real) a few years ago. Tried OSRS with a buddy to guide me through the early game, been playing it as hard as I ever played WoW ever since. Really enjoying your blind playthrough so far, mr not-reading-the-comments.
Hope your friend can explain to ya that the wow questing of killing mobs is actually a skill called slayer in osrs. There are no quests really like that, quests are more like puzzles. Really fkn hard puzzles if ur not using a guide
When I made my Ironman last year, in August, I challenged myself to do the quests without using the wiki, since I always did them that way as a kid. I managed to make it through 26 of the 158 quests (at the time) in the game, before abandoning this idea. (The quest that made me give up was Ghosts Ahoy, due to the amount of backtracking in and out of Morytania for key items, like the milk for the tea and the dyes.) This is coming from someone who’s played RuneScape for 18 years, and has done most of the quests at least once in the past. Good fucking luck doing them without guides - you’re gonna need it, I promise you that.

Hey, I would recommend using Runelite and the GPU plugin (addon) that increases graphic fidelity slightly to smooth out text and UI for recording purposes & slightly improve things like having anti-aliasing since the base client has nothing of the sort. There are more in-depth ones (HD rework, but that's a little extreme for me personally.) As others have mentioned, I would turn off some of the default addons (called plugins) like "Quest Helper", "Puzzle Solver" and "Clue Helper" so you have a true blind experience!
@@LoganChristianson It's literally just the standard and it's like no work, 90% or so of people who play the game use the runelite client, jagex even built it in to their own launcher. If you're running runelite it's just a one click toggle for either the gpu plugin or the hd plugin
@@scaredofvirtualdeath It offers a lot of things on *by default* which he has explicitly stated *he does not want*. So if he's going to use the client, that means doing a bunch of configuration, and for what benefit to the game? To make it look nicer? He's played WOW for the last 20 years, or at least so he says. I can't imagine graphical fidelity is very important to him.
Mad I'm proud of you, from a life long OSRS player and a fan of yours I love this. The middle man who's reading comments: just let Mad know completing the game is 99 all stats. Good luck!
Historically, those minigames were for anti-bot measures and you were forced to do them or the NPC would kill you if you ignored them and the rewards were there for the inconvenience. The OldSchool team opted to take them out as they are a bit annoying as a forced gameplay mechanic, but it has its charm and they polled the community who opted to keep them but make them optional. There are other anti-bot "minigames" they took out altogether though as they only existed to punish. While fishing you could lose your net and it would flow downstream and you'd have to retrieve it, while wood cutting or mining your axe head would fly off (and if you didn't pick it up within a minute, other people could take it), and some creatures would spawn to just straight up kill you and you had to flee because they scaled to be above your combat level.
Random Events definitely started as an anti-botting measure, and worked quite well in the early 2000s. They also were less frequent but NOT optional (NPCs would attack you, take you to "jail", break your equipment, etc. if ignored for too long). Unfortunately bots evolved and were able to solve them with ease, so now they're just in the game as a way for low-level accounts and ironmen to get small rewards. There's also some "rare" unique items you can get from them (un-tradable cosmetics, mostly), so some people like to try to collect them.
I am so incredibly excited for you. You have thousands of hours of exploration, adventure, and fun ahead of you.. Best of luck, MadSeasonShow! Iron Sharpens Iron!

I dont think he realizes the difficulty of what he thinks he is going to do. Quest cape with 0 guides? Yea, sure mate. He will either quit, start using a guide, or finish in over 5 years time. He really has no idea lol
Honestly love seeing the no guide play through of one of my favorite games! Definitely reminds me of my first time playing especially having that one friend to give a helpful nudge in the right direction :)
The random events were initially anti-botting measures. They used to be forced events. You did not get to say no. Botters found ways around, so they changed them to be more player-friendly instead of disruptive. Some were straight up deadly, spawning monsters that could kill you rather easily at low levels, or straight up causing an explosion, or destroying your equipment, so on so forth. Now, they're mostly collection logs and xp lamps for fun.
Even though I lost interest in Runescape back i middle school this series makes me want to play it again. I still love how the game handles quests and wish we had more sandbox mmos that used that formula.
First off, loving the series. Second: You were totally on track with the Random NPC's popping up as a form of "Bot control" - These are called Random events and they used to be forced on the players, today they're optional. Bots became so advanced that it was no longer a deterrent, but players missed the interactions and little cosmetic rewards and such so, Jagex reincorporated them back into the game. With the exception of the aggressive ones. There used to be a few that would pop up and start to kill you. For example the "Evil Chicken" was notorious. Instead of removing it entirely, the Evil chicken now has been resided to a peaceful lifestyle in a small chicken coop inside the Champions guild south of Varrock.
Some of these quests feel like they would be near impossible without guides. But someone had to figure them out to begin with! God speed Madseason lol he doesn't seem to know how exponential levels are yet

9:47 The armor you have equipped doesn't affect the energy expended when you run, they count as in your inventory when worn. It's about the KG (weight) in your actual overall inventory. You can find items that reduce your inventory weight to negative numbers which helps running even more. Boots of Lightness if I remember correctly.
@@Unkindpigeon. "The armor you have equipped doesn't affect the energy expended when you run" I just realized what you meant by that. I think you could've worded it better but oh well.
@@Unkindpigeon. I mean, technically armor equipped DOES affect the energy expended because we know there are weight reducing pieces of gear that don't take effect when in inventory. So even the original statement isn't true even though I understand what you meant.

Apart from that, the current format is amazing! Love to see this dude! Hyped for the series and this journey!❤
Episode 2 of "I can't wait til this guy finds out about his right click button"!
Very much appreciated MadSeason's game sense. Very quickly he realized that traversal and a limited inventory are key elements of the game's design.
A lot of people see these as problems, but real ones know these are very important pieces of a complex and beautiful puzzle.
Mans accidentally recreated Alien Food’s Unguided series and I’m loving it!
Somehow with less knowledge lol
@@jamesn3122I cannot wait, I just hope he downloads at least some RuneLite plugins
@@jamesn3122I just hope he downloads at least a couple RuneLite plugins lmao, if his friend is reading this, at least tell him about some of the good plug ins please.
If madseason somehow catches up to alien food I feel like they should be allowed to share findings
Thats how guides and wikis were born my dude@MrFluffytheTurtle
Can't wait for more of this Series. It's so amazing being able to watch someone experience OSRS blind for the first time. I look forward to learning with you!
Prefect timing with the end of by release. Please keep this up
I'm actually so excited for this series!
Good friend to direct you to play Ironman since it's right up your alley
20 year RS2 (osrs before it was osrs) veteran here. NO SPOILERS btw. It's so refreshing to see the game through the eyes of a beginner OSRS player, but literal professional MMO player. The dichotomy of not knowing how the games specific's mechanics work, but being able to intuit the importance of certain items e.g. the ghostspeak amulet and solve quests blind makes for a really engaging watch.
2:58 'on the very small chance I die' kek, just wait till he realises
always right when you least expect it..
This made me chuckle, he's going to leeaaaaarn
Opening up with walking on the INCORRECT side of lumby castle. This is going to be awesome.
I like how he had to search the internet for a laugh sound bite as he is unable to laugh.
This is a beautiful arc
This is the most interesting osrs Ironman series I have ever seen. Usually the other ironman series are made by people with a lot of experience in the game and they use a lot of plug-ins and guides to help them. But you are doing it completely blind also you are a new player with zero experience, so it makes the videos extremely interesting. Keep it up!
i like you reading the quest dialogues, no OSRS player does that lmao
Bro. This is some nostalgia right here. Glad to see your enjoying Runeacape. It really is a fun game.
Love that you’re playing this
This game may not have any "kill 10 goblins" quests but you will have to grind for hundreds of hours to be able to do all of them, thousands if you aren't using any guides and haven't played the game before
Can’t wait to watch all of this, it’s gonna be great.
This is the best possible video you could have posted, I love the WoW x Runescape crossover stuff so much
Hope your friend can explain to ya that the wow questing of killing mobs is actually a skill called slayer in osrs. There are no quests really like that, quests are more like puzzles. Really fkn hard puzzles if ur not using a guide
as a fan of the channel and a lifetime wow and osrs/rs2 player this makes me more excited for a series than i can describe
Holy shit never clicked on a video faster
same dude
14:51 dude idk why that just got me good. solid kek. why does the dumbest, most immature thing possible bring so much joy?
When I made my Ironman last year, in August, I challenged myself to do the quests without using the wiki, since I always did them that way as a kid.
I managed to make it through 26 of the 158 quests (at the time) in the game, before abandoning this idea. (The quest that made me give up was Ghosts Ahoy, due to the amount of backtracking in and out of Morytania for key items, like the milk for the tea and the dyes.)
This is coming from someone who’s played RuneScape for 18 years, and has done most of the quests at least once in the past. Good fucking luck doing them without guides - you’re gonna need it, I promise you that.
ghost ahoy is so brutal it makes me afraid to quest when league/DMM comes around because it makes me think theyre all going to be that bad
@@currentcommerce4774 leagues is not the time to run blind quests plus you barely quest in leagues beyond xp drops or requirements for certain activities. the majority of important, long tedious, quests are completed already in leagues.
Sneaked in some sweet Lufia II music in there. Thought it was playing in my head at first.
ChadSeason doing some hardcore clicking
It’s so awesome you decided to go with the IM game-mode. I’m beyond excited to binge this series - was so damn happy when I saw the notification and realized what’s gonna happen from here on out. Good luck man! May the rng gods be forever in your favor! ⭐️
Oh my god man as an old time osrs enjoyer I’m so excited for this series. Another creator by the name of Alien Food has a newer series using the same ruleset but he had played decent chunk of main content like 4-5 years prior to giving the series its start. Been amazing watching him, it will be another level to watch you experience the game with absolutely no knowledge
I just rewatched the OG video so now I’m ready to properly watch this with context
You're asking him to put a lot of work into getting the game into a state that's better *by your own preference*.
Good luck!
The hero we never knew we needed
One of the most entertaining videos I've seen all week - and this one was pretty chill.
I haven't played much but I love this game. Always feels so nostalgic! I'm really looking forward to this series, it'll be fun to watch for sure.
3:20
The most emotion shown by madseasonshow throughout his career in the internet
You've never watched his stream I guess. He was always being like that in his streams.
3:22 Nikadoavacado lost his weight, Asmongold got a temp ban and now madseasonshow shows actual emotion.
2024 has been wild, what a time to be alive.
You know sh*ts been boring as f*ck when this is what excites people.
dont forget the big guy taking chip damage on his ear
I am so incredibly excited for you. You have thousands of hours of exploration, adventure, and fun ahead of you.. Best of luck, MadSeasonShow! Iron Sharpens Iron!
8:01 Not DSP 💀
I thought I clicked off this video
It wasn’t his fault dood he was pressing buttons!!!!
hah alright as a runescape fan who has pretty much never played the game (but got sucked into Settled's Swampletics series), this is what I need.
Blind playthrough that takes one million hours, cozy comfort watch for the rest of my life. Subscribed.
Theres a 99.9% chance you die
He already did in the video lol
im so glad u decided to continue with doing the osrs stuff
Now, they're mostly collection logs and xp lamps for fun.
never have I enjoyed a video as much as I enjoy this one. The combo of both my favorite games coming together. Bellissimo.
yeeeeeeeeeesssssss! Huge fan of WoW, Runescape, and your videos. I can't wait to see what you make of this side of the pond.
I've never been so happy and excited to see the start of a series before. LETS GOOO
I think this is the first time we've heard you lose your shit 😂
Looking forward for more episodes, this is great!
Even though I lost interest in Runescape back i middle school this series makes me want to play it again. I still love how the game handles quests and wish we had more sandbox mmos that used that formula.
Middle-man, please tell our boy to show his skill-progression more often! I'd love to see how he grows
i am so in love with this series i cannot get enough of it
Brother got me playing Runescape again, love you and hate you at the same time
Really enjoyed this, so excited to see RuneScape through fresh eyes once more.
You're the only youtuber i don't skip the Ads, you deserve it
First off, loving the series.
Dude I hadn't thought about the highlighted things in scooby doo since I was a kid. I always thought it was because the way it was animated with different layers. Nostalgia hit there
It’s so amusing to me that “quests” in most other mmorpg’s are basically literally the whole ‘Slayer’ skill in Runescape.
Hell yeah! I hope you can experience as many quests as possible, it’s a lot of fun and very good unlocks for the account
YES KEEP GOING MADSEASON !!! I have played RS since 2004, and I have watched you for years despite not really playing WoW - you quitting WoW was heart breaking for me because I love your content. MADSEASON MEETS RUNESCAPE!??!?! NO FUCKING WAY DUDE YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've never played WoW but I still like watching MadSeasons's WoW videos; I've never played RuneScape but I still like watching MadSeason's RuneScape videos!
Oh man, I'm excited for this! Good luck out there, MadSeason.
new subscriber because i love a series like this, but WOW I admire your optimism to do every quest with no guide lol. Have fun and good luck
Cant wait for episode 2! recently been playing FFX for the first time so the zanarkand reference made me chuckle. as a new osrs player myself struggling my way through the quests im going to enjoy the heck out of this series.
TH-cam Recommendations: Looks like you want to see a bunch of Runescape videos! Me: Nah, I'll wait for the next MadSeason vid.
He better not give up. This is hands down my favorite OSRS content right now. And as a 19 year player of the game, have extreme envy of his position. This game will change him beyond anything ever before lol. Good luck with the elves.
He literally got rank 1 pvp classic wow. He can do this
@whyeumadbro apples to oranges. Im not talking about pvp lol, Im talking about puzzles.

The armor you have equipped doesn't affect the energy expended when you run, they count as in your inventory when worn. It's about the KG (weight) in your actual overall inventory. You can find items that reduce your inventory weight to negative numbers which helps running even more. Boots of Lightness if I remember correctly.
equipped armor also contributes to weight
@@polishspy3088 Yes but equipped armor also counts towards your overall inventory including weight. Everything you carry is your inventory.
@@Unkindpigeon. "The armor you have equipped doesn't affect the energy expended when you run" I just realized what you meant by that. I think you could've worded it better but oh well.
@@polishspy3088 yeah you're definitely right, my wording isn't the best but you understand it after rereading so I think it works.
@@Unkindpigeon. I mean, technically armor equipped DOES affect the energy expended because we know there are weight reducing pieces of gear that don't take effect when in inventory. So even the original statement isn't true even though I understand what you meant.
This is amazing! Couldn't be a better guy doing it. I am with you all the way!
