Spot on review. I just got this TV. Gaming is incredible! Movies in the day are great. It is no OLED when it comes to the black levels in a dark room tho. Great all around unit.
Damn it, I was just planning on getting the 49inch version, but you told me that one only has a 60hz panel wtf! Why don't they just make it all 120hz, so stupid lmao
I bought the 55” Q6 a few weeks ago and love it! It’s amazing for games and movies, which is really all I use a TV for. The local dimming is less that stellar, but I only notice it when white text is on a black background such as the black bars. Other than that, I highly recommend this TV, especially if you have an Xbox one or One X.
Jonathan Greene Hi! I also want to buy this TV. Could you tell me, How far from tv are you sitting when you play games and watch movies on Netflix for example? ;) I Don’t know which size I need :)
Patryk M. Get the 55, it’s a great size for games, and it’s the minimum size you need to really notice the clarity from the pixel density. I had the 49 but exchanged it after two weeks.
Jonathan Greene Thank you :) maybe for saved money I will buy a soundbar Yamaha YAS-107. I think that will be a better option than the 65 without soundbar.
I bought the 49" Q6FN a couple days ago for my living room and it had a lot of small bothersome issues that made me return it. 1) Its only a 60hz panel for the 49" version and the motion was not great. Samsungs motion options did not do well for any sports for me. Picture still had jutting and strange changes in the motion. 2) No control options for HDMI return data. I have a HTPC and every time I shut the TV off it would shut down the PC. I tried everything with the drivers on the computer but it was always an issue. I tried shutting off the HDMI CEC and it did not help. 3) The glare on the TV was much worse than the 8 year old TV it replaced. I could see with clarity my blinds, windows and myself in a clear reflection. The amazing black levels of this TV make that issue worse in a room with moderate light. 4) Watching TH-cam and Netflix in 1080p isnt great with this extreme contrast ratio and intense brightness. I was watching The Last Kingdom and there are so many dark scenes that are too dark looking and yet some bright daytime scenes and burning flames make me squint. It just looked so unnatural and no matter the contrast, brightness, backlight settings etc... the color engine running this TV just was strange. Those dark scenes were so dark details were lost. I think for HDR content that is really calibrated well it must be great but for 95% of daily viewing not realistic since so many videos are at different levels and compression. 5) The bottom backlight LED local dimming causes weird dimming and brightening between black and bright things in a video. I see halloing sometimes also . Its minor but on a TV with no local dimming this is not an issues at all, everything is static and natural. 6) The viewing angle was worse than expected. If I sit 8 feet away and 3 people are on the sofa the people on the ends loose brightness in about 8" of the opposite side of the screen. I actually bought the Sony 49X800E today to try after hearing IPS panels are better with brighter rooms in the background. After a day it seems much better and the blacks look way better in person than the rtings review would make you think. The motion is also really good for a 60hz panel and there is a dedicated setting for football which smooths games out perfectly. Sony really does a perfect job with their color engine and motion to make it really natural so nothing bothers you. Also being IPS you can be anywhere on my sofa and it all looks even in brightness. The real kicker is watching TH-cam and Netflix everything looks much more even and closer to reality from video to video due to the weaker contrast ratio. I can see more details in the dark scenes also. I think something like the Q6FN is better for a bedroom TV and that's about all. For dark rooms there are better options and wow stay way for bright rooms. The X800E also has more glare than I'd like versus the older TV it replaced, but its a little better with the weaker contrast ratio than the Q6FN during dark scenes.
I bought one so far great TV for the price, love how the legs slide into place with no screws needed. Blacks are decent not as good as my oled but the colors are off the charts haven't gamed on it yet though. All in all I'm impressed so far.
In the website you have stated that the 49" model DOES have a 120hz panel. But in the video you state otherwise. Which one is true ? Thanks in advance.
Awesome review as always! I was comparing Q6FN to Q7FN and X900F, your website always help me making my final decision. I might end up with the Q6FN because it's cheapest, but i'll keep an eye out for the other two to see if their prices decrease significantly throughout this week.
I read on the review that you made on the site, that you cannot deactivate the auto dimming option through the regular menu of the tv, and that you had to go to the service menu. What option did you had to deactivate in order to achieve that? thanks!
This tv should of also got an update that helps brightness after this review one guy did a test and was getting 1000 bit peak brightness in some spots but on average 800 nits I thought that's just amazing one thing I wish you would talk about is clarity not lag or blurry I'm talking about the crisp clarity of the tvs
I have the nu8000 65in and I'm highly satisfied with it. It gets compliments every time I have someone over. My two daughters have their own 45 inch 4k tvs and they're always trying to take over mine. That q6 does get my attention though
I bought the Q6F 49” a few days ago. The sound is amazing...2 speakers and a sub woofer at a total of 40 Watts?!?! Built into a tv?! I really won’t need to buy a sound bar. I’ve played Destiny 2 and Doom through my PS4 Pro on it...I’m blown away. I actually felt immersed in the games. Buy it. Don’t think about it...just do it.
I was in Best Buy and they had a nu8000, q6f and q8f next to each other playing the same demo at the same time. I couldn’t tell a difference between the nu8000 and the q6f and the only difference between the nu8000 and q8f was the black levels.... but it wasn’t great enough for me to want to buy the q8f over the nu8000.....
@@joester4life yeah from the reviews I read. It makes a loud clicking sound from the back of the tv even when off .I don't know if it was bad batch or all the TV's that's why I asked him about his I like the tv 120hz is what I'm looking for and I don't want to pay over 1000 I do monthly payments through qvc or hsn so I'm looking for bang for my buck for my Xbox 1 x
The NU8000 and Q6FN is about $100 difference and having difficulties on deciding which one to choose. I was wondering if there are any screen burn issues on either models?
Does the 65 inch version suffer from a lot of dirty screen effect? I'm buying primarily to watch sports and DSE is a big issue on my current TV since day 1 and is the reason for me upgrading. My current TV is side lit IPS LG TV which I know are particularly bad for dirty screen effect. Should this TV offer a big improvement on DSE compared to my old TV?
I have Samsung 78ks9800 from 2016. My 3 year old just broke it though. Could you recommend one of Samsungs more recent TVs that would have similar specs? Q6,7,8,or9,? Mainly for movies and 4k hdr. No sports or gaming. Thanks
What TV should I get? The Samsung QE55Q6FN or the LG Super UHD 55SK8100PLA? Both almost cost the same, so it's a really hard decision for me to choose which I should buy.
Okay so I'm considering a 49 inch q6f or a 55 in nu8000. I'm a bit of a at a crossroads because I'm going to be using it for gaming. Q6f 49 inch is priced at 699 and the 55" nu8000 is at 747.99. I just plain and simple don't know which one to get. Can you help me plz!
I bought this TV and am going to probably return it today. Since its edge lit, It has a problem with the whole screen dimming during points of light in dark scenes or with subtitles when the come on the screen. Its a very distracting phenomenon that causes the TV to *pulsate* its brightness and there is no way to adjust this. I assume its from the TV trying to create deeper blacks during dark scenes, but it ends up just being very distracting when the camera pans across a light source in the scene or when subtitles are used. For bright gaming, its great. I have it running 4k @60hz or 1440 @ 120hz. Overwatch is great on it. I don't know how darker games would play. But bright - high action games like OW are awesome. I really wish you could just turn off that auto scene dimming feature. But it looks like you can only select "low". For that reason, I'm returning. Example of problem. th-cam.com/video/wFp2FJqHwIA/w-d-xo.html
@@MiguelMichael-fe1bd did you really just justify a problem by saying don't use it? Car leaks oil? Well stop using your car!! Did you read what I actually wrote? I clearly state that it's due to captions. The TV has no way of turning this auto dimming off. Which it should. Or it should at a minimum compensate properly for captions.
If this is for the same thing, then believe it can be turned off in the Service Menu. I believe Daniel states that on the RTINGS review. Thats how the Black level is better when tested without the local dimming. Because the Flicker is caused by the Edge Light Local Dimming which is rated really bad. When you disable that I would think it would no longer do that on screen. I ordered one a couple days ago and I have an Xbox X so I will see if I observe what you observed in a semi to dark room. Did you keep it or take it back?@@netsurge3
The semi-gloss anti reflecting coating has very bad reflections just like the NU8000, it makes a huge difference for bright rooms or if your TV is next to a window, try to go for a better anti-reflecting panel like the Q7fn or Q8fn or Sony x900f.
The store is clearning out old stock and last years Q7 is on sale. Which is the better buy 55Q7f or the 2018 55Q6FN? The Q7f is about $170 dollars cheaper the 55Qfn as well.
Hello everybody. I am down to two TVs that I am looking at. the Samsung Q6FN (65inch) and the TCL 65R617. Which one should I go with? after this video, it's a little bit hard to decide now. I also like the Roku platform but that's not the only deciding factor. TCL has the 120 local dimming zones and the Samsung is edge lit.....let me know what you think. Thanks
I have to choose between this model and the Samsung Mu 6300? Which one do you think Is better for movies and tv shows? I’m not a gamer, so I’m completely confused
How does this compared to the ks8500 in terms of picture quality and colors? My ks85000 died on me after 1 and a half years and thinking of getting this tv. I bought the vizio p 2018 but im going to return it for this q6fn 2018 because it sucks at upscaling 1080p content and below youtube videos look bad and the colors arent great like the ks8500.
What about the angle if you mount the tv on the wall, and you view it from below, is the difference notable, and what from the side? At how many degrees is it notable on both situations?
Just bought the TV. For gaming, it is incredible. Did a little testing and I wasn't entirely happy with Sports viewing. It may have been my ignorance and not entirely having the TV settings dialed in but sometimes objects/players seemed blurrier than usual.
Apart from the stand and no one connect box (🤷🏾♂️) this has the same specs as the previous series 6 Q6F 55" that I purchased from Currys in May '18 for £840. I CONSTANTLY receive complements from 'Techie' people about my tv. I would've been happy to pay £1200 for it now having experience with it! It is an absolutely stunning all-rounder! It's Picture blows you away when viewing HDR!
I'm very confused by how theb lack uniformity is good and it has Deep black but the local dimming is bad? What does this mean? Does this have an effect on the dark performance in a dark room? Will this tv have good and Deep blacklevels in dark room?
Can in the audio output settings.... switch this TV to PCM-Stereo????..... The speaker system I am using will have static across if set for 5.1 or Dolby/DTS so need to have it switched to PCM-Stereo over the optical cable.... let me know thanks!!!!
Hello. I would like to know if the option of the channels "Most Watched" or the list of frequently viewed channels that are to be created in the smart hub and visible with the home button, once turned off the TV and turned back on these disappear or remain in memory? If you can answer me because they tell me from the Samsung service center that for the 2017 models (that I have, a Q6) and 2018 it is normal that they disappear. It seems a stupid thing! thanks a lot
Bought the Q6FN, but I can see a dark shadow around the left/right and upper edges, especially on white or bright color. I told this to the store but he refuses RMA until it's repaired twice by a Samsung Service Guy that comes to my home and takes a look on it and Repair or Replace my TV. Should I do this or can I fix this issue by myself?

Now that’s what I call a review very professional
Finally a detailed review for advanced users. Rtings.com is also professional. Keep up the good work guys!
thats the review i was looking for the q6fn that time 👌
I bought one so far great TV for the price, love how the legs slide into place with no screws needed. Blacks are decent not as good as my oled but the colors are off the charts haven't gamed on it yet though. All in all I'm impressed so far.
For 600 bucks would you say is a good deal?
Great Review, i wish more reviews were like this. Nice comparison to other tv's out there. Helps narrow down my choice. Thank You.
My god what an awesome review, thank you very much!
is it possible to see the difference of the picture from the NU8000 and Q6FN?
Yes, I'm actually in the process of buying a new tv. The tv on the video is on sale for $699.99 at Micro Center.
@@cramakin yeah i have now the Q6fn since 2 weeks and it was a good joice. The Contrast is much better. The black is really black almost like an OLED
Excellent and professional review! 😎
as usual amazing videos....picking a tv right now and these reviews help so much!
In the website you have stated that the 49" model DOES have a 120hz panel. But in the video you state otherwise. Which one is true ? Thanks in advance.
Awesome review as always! I was comparing Q6FN to Q7FN and X900F, your website always help me making my final decision. I might end up with the Q6FN because it's cheapest, but i'll keep an eye out for the other two to see if their prices decrease significantly throughout this week.
in the uk the xf900f is now £899 in most places. and the qled for £860
How much prise for the Q6FN bro ???

Joshua Trepte where are u seeing this, I’m in Hertfordshire??!?
What is the significant difference between the 2017 Q6F and the 2018 Q6FN. Can you clearly distinguish the two with their boxes?
i came from a sj8000 to q6fn and there is no comparison, q6fn is waaaaaaaay better, in fact is the best tv i ever had
What's the difference between this TV and the 2017 q6f? There's no review on the website for the special edition q6f.
How the peak brightnes in HDR?
Stoked! I am about to pic mine up tomorrow.
Hazem I usually have to lower the brightness...if that helps
I was in Best Buy and they had a nu8000, q6f and q8f next to each other playing the same demo at the same time. I couldn’t tell a difference between the nu8000 and the q6f and the only difference between the nu8000 and q8f was the black levels.... but it wasn’t great enough for me to want to buy the q8f over the nu8000.....
I feel the same way, it may be because of the store lighting as the black levels would be more noticeable in a dark room... but I play with a lamp on.
Did u buy the nu8000?if so does it make a clicking sound ? I see alot of reviews saying it makes this sound
@@supremeleaderharryballs8104 a clicking sound?
@@joester4life yeah from the reviews I read. It makes a loud clicking sound from the back of the tv even when off .I don't know if it was bad batch or all the TV's that's why I asked him about his I like the tv 120hz is what I'm looking for and I don't want to pay over 1000 I do monthly payments through qvc or hsn so I'm looking for bang for my buck for my Xbox 1 x
I had the tv and yes mines had the clicking/ticking noise from the back panel.I had to return it.
Ratings.com you guys are the best!
Once again great review.
Wonder if it was possible to show our customers scores from your website, so it would be easier for everyone to pick the right TV.
The NU8000 and Q6FN is about $100 difference and having difficulties on deciding which one to choose. I was wondering if there are any screen burn issues on either models?
So it seems that 49inch of this model doesn't have FreeSync support?
Does the 65 inch version suffer from a lot of dirty screen effect? I'm buying primarily to watch sports and DSE is a big issue on my current TV since day 1 and is the reason for me upgrading. My current TV is side lit IPS LG TV which I know are particularly bad for dirty screen effect. Should this TV offer a big improvement on DSE compared to my old TV?
What about the ambient mode that supposedly allows you to see through it....
I have Samsung 78ks9800 from 2016. My 3 year old just broke it though. Could you recommend one of Samsungs more recent TVs that would have similar specs? Q6,7,8,or9,?
Mainly for movies and 4k hdr. No sports or gaming. Thanks
hi
hi
How to set the backlighting panel of the SDR game???(ps4 pro) standard 40 seems to be much too much, 16, 18 ???
What TV should I get? The Samsung QE55Q6FN or the LG Super UHD 55SK8100PLA? Both almost cost the same, so it's a really hard decision for me to choose which I should buy.
Cant decide whether to get 65' inch NU8000 or 55' q6fn. Any advise. It's for gaming.
@@MichaelMoore-sd7jh There's a video on TH-cam on how to disable the Local dimming through the service menu.
Ugh. As someone who uses closed captioning that is distracting
What would be the best low profile wall mount for this TV? I just bought it, but can't figure out which wall mount I should buy.....
The semi-gloss anti reflecting coating has very bad reflections just like the NU8000, it makes a huge difference for bright rooms or if your TV is next to a window, try to go for a better anti-reflecting panel like the Q7fn or Q8fn or Sony x900f.
Joelster G4K which one is better, NU8000 or Q6F?!
Nazar Khorshed Q6, it has quantum Dot, just be sure to get the 55" panel or bigger to get the gaming features.
Joelster G4K thanks for the info.
Agreed brother Joelster. I’m loving my x900f
And mu8000 ! Is bad too
The store is clearning out old stock and last years Q7 is on sale. Which is the better buy 55Q7f or the 2018 55Q6FN? The Q7f is about $170 dollars cheaper the 55Qfn as well.
Are you guys also doing a video on the new Q7FN? I would really like to see that after your written review.
Thanks
What is an acceptable premium for Q6FN over NU8000?
wow, what a great review. Awesome work. Thanks!
I have to choose between this model and the Samsung Mu 6300? Which one do you think Is better for movies and tv shows? I’m not a gamer, so I’m completely confused
Awesome job! Love direct comparisons.
How does this compared to the ks8500 in terms of picture quality and colors? My ks85000 died on me after 1 and a half years and thinking of getting this tv. I bought the vizio p 2018 but im going to return it for this q6fn 2018 because it sucks at upscaling 1080p content and below youtube videos look bad and the colors arent great like the ks8500.
nice video... i bought the NU6950 and hated it, than the nu7400 and hated it... ended up with this TV and loved it.
Amazing review.. really helped me understand which TV is for me. I never post on youtube, my first comment! thank you! great review!
What's the difference between the Q6FA and this Q6FN? Thank you! do they have the same variable motion rate? 120hz? (at 55inches)
I'm very confused by how theb lack uniformity is good and it has Deep black but the local dimming is bad? What does this mean? Does this have an effect on the dark performance in a dark room? Will this tv have good and Deep blacklevels in dark room?
Does the 75 inch Q9FN have more dimming zones than the 65 inch Q9FN?
I really hope so since i’m getting the 75 inch.
No. The same ammount of zones. But, I think the 75-inch can get a lot brighter than the 65-inch version, if I remember HDTVtest correctly.
Can in the audio output settings.... switch this TV to PCM-Stereo????..... The speaker system I am using will have static across if set for 5.1 or Dolby/DTS so need to have it switched to PCM-Stereo over the optical cable.... let me know thanks!!!!
Hi, overall, would you say the q6fn or x900f is the best?
I bought the Samsung nu8000 55 inch at the price of 650€ and I wonder if it was worth to buy the q6fn 55 at the price of 800€
That guy looks like one of the bad guys on the first Die Hard Movie lol
you mean Red Eye
Haven't bought any tv for long time since I use computer monitor mainly. Learned a lot since I'm in a market for 82"s.
i bought 55Q6FN today and i love it . Thanks for all information 👍🏻🤘🏻😁
Still love it 4 months later?
How is it one year later .?
Raheem McLean
Great TV.. one year using
Bought the Q6FN, but I can see a dark shadow around the left/right and upper edges, especially on white or bright color. I told this to the store but he refuses RMA until it's repaired twice by a Samsung Service Guy that comes to my home and takes a look on it and Repair or Replace my TV. Should I do this or can I fix this issue by myself?
Подскажите, как на Samsung Q6F установить приложение ss iptv ?
Any news to when the 49in variant will be released in the US?
Great review, I was looking at getting an q8 but after seeing this. And what I Am using it for Gaming and movies as I don’t have cable. I think the q6 will be perfect for me. Especially playing pc games and PlayStation 4 pro and Xbox one x.
Plz. Show the complete VIDEO review of SAMSUNG 55Q7FN QLED TV 2018, I really like your videos and recommendations. Still waiting the q7fn video rivew Thanks
Why does some people say there is a one connect box on the q6f and a powercable from the tv. And now i see there is not a one connect box. Can someone confirm this ? I’m from europe so maybe this is different ?
I have a KS7500. Would this be a worthy upgrade? Mainly use my Xbox One X on it
Would a 49” Q6FN be a good purchase for $700 or 49” Sony X900F for $1000? Would love to go 55” but bedroom is too small.
Amazing TV. I just purchased the 49" variant to use as a PC monitor. I wish they put a 120hz panel on this version as well but its fine. Running 4K over 60fps isn't easy anyway. It's still an awesome TV.
How do you like this TV as a monitor for pc?
I’m considering one for charting and productivity as my secondary monitor
