EPISODE 11: We continue more pallet wood projects on the outside. PLUS - We bring Jaxx along too, although he had to be on the lead as there is a large Badger Set in the area and Rabbits. Being a Jack Russell Terrier, it's his instinct to want to chase these small mammals, which can be dangerous if he gets stuck down one of the holes. Better to be safe than sorry! Hope you enjoy the episode

More than most channels, you've inspired people to do amazing things. When I was homeless, I used to think about gathering pallets and doing something like this but was to afraid to draw attention to myself. You've not only done it, but proved it can be a home. If things cave, people are gonna need shelter- and you've taught them they can do it. I love my cast iron and wouldn't trade it for anything.

I Was home less and too like Tina Gallagher I thought that there was no reason the pallets should be used that are all over the place , but if you do something unconventional people com up with all kind of things about you, until of course they stumble upon what they're missing out on, a very good example of that here in the US is the scrap industry, it cracks me up! There is much waste in this great country.

Wow! You guys are including some awesome add-ons. Maybe you should consider renting out the B&B Pallet House for a weekend? The only other thing you'll need to add is a small outhouse with a composting toilet! Oh, and a shower curtain for the washing area. Just a thought. :-) Loving this series, keep mesmerizing us with pallet wood.

I love to camp and fish bit as it turns out I have a very bad back condition that keeps me from walking to far, I have to use a walker at the age of 56, so I go camping with you! Thank you it means a lot to me, God bless!

    Mike,
You can add the eggshells to the compost instead of throwing them in the bin. This can really help with nutrients for the plants. Also things like the egg box will compost very quickly because of its structure. Just an handy idea to help cutdown landfill and add to your recylcing ethos.
Great vids as always, keep them up!

You know seeing you and your dad being real close and loving the outdoors makes me wish my father was still alive. He loved being outdoors and my most favorite memories of him are the days we went camping. Your father makes me think about my dad. He died when was eight I keep wondering at times what life would have been like if he was around wishing I could laugh with him and have good time with him as you have with your father. Cherish the times you both have and thank you for giving me the ability to think about him more. Your dad looks like my father I feel like wondering what his older years would have been like. Cheers.

Mike and dad I just want you to know that my husband and I have enjoyed your episodes. We found them most informative and entertaining. We had planned on doing something similar to this for ourselves as a get away. However, we won't be doing that now. My husband passed on March 17, St. Patrick's day here in the US, but I still enjoy watching all the things you do and build. When I watch your episodes I feel that he is still with me. Please don't stop building on your off grid cabin!

'Over the Hill and Through The Woods To Grand(father's) House We Go!' I am always amazed by Graeme's inventive mind and his spontaneous visual humor! Thanks for another absorbing episode. We don't often get to see one real part of Bushcraft--cleaning up the dishes out in the woods. PS: that clear plastic tarp over the raised beds is going to heat load without some way of providing adequate ventilation.

My grandparents used chicken wire to create the frame for their compost piles. Daily, they took their food trash, banana peels, egg shells, orange peels, coffee grounds, etc. and turned it into their compost piles. They had a very large garden so they needed huge compost piles. They always had multiple piles. They pile we put food waste in and kept turning over was not to be uses as compost for two more years. They piles were rotated on a three year cycle. They always had record sized produce from the garden. Love your show keep up the great work!

this day 15 years ago i lost my dad, he loved fixing things and building more than i do (he was a professional builder, after all), his knowledge and skill will far surpass my own for a long time, if not forever, because he didn't have the chance to teach me much of what he knew. it's really good to see you two making an effort to spend proper time together, far too many people don't appreciate the opportunity, or understand how lucky they are.

So you asked what we would think next of building and I was thinking hot sunny days will be coming and maybe you should think of some kind of canopy or umbrella to sit under to get out of the sun. Maybe you can put it where your dogs line is so he can sit by you and be under the canopy too. Just a thought. Look forward to see more of your shows.

Why not just keep it in the plastic bag and put in crate. It will compost quicker and the crate won't rot so quickly. You can even burry the food scraps to kill the smell.

    • @Tallisman1000

I was thinking put the eggshells in the coffee (it removes the bitterness) then add them tho the compost ( I also agreed with the composting in the bag as long as it’s in the sun)
As for they ash they used in the compost, the charcoal they separated is equally as beneficial!!!

Thanks a lot for an other wonderful video. I would like to see a Pallet Wood Fishing Boat or a Pallet Wood Waterwheel. Best wishes from Switzerland

Make sure to add the egg shells to the compost, they decompose well and add important nutrients. Great video!

Great channel, you and your dad have a fine mix of banter. The Shed needs some insulation as was pointed out in another video. Please consider this, keep the metal roof outside alone and use cardboard inside on the walls and ceiling. Every visit can cover a little more wall. Hold it it place with slats. A final wall paper of old plastic is the vapor barrier. Cardboard has good insulation properties and seals the cracks. It will also quiet the metal roof in a rain. May good fortune bless your new enterprise.

I like the spoons in the drill trick, clever. I'm sure a standard whisk would work good in it as well. I use my drill with my hand ice auger for ice fishing works great. Thanks for sharing

next time you bring the Makita, if you have a hole saw, maybe 25/30mm, if you bore a few holes in the compost bin it helps for oxygen/moisture, also a rough lid would be an idea, regards from Wessex !
