Chicken wire and a bit of soil on the roof, then moss. That way it can weave its roots through and stay put.

It's like I was right there in the palletwood cabin with you guys, mates! There is no end to the pleasure I gets from your videos! The raised bed speaks to my heart! Spring is around the corner and it will be fantastic to see what you two rouge gardners grow! My dad passed away in the 80s and to see you two having so much fun, makes me think of all the good times my dad and I had. This cabin build is a lot more than a look at what you can do with palletwood. It is an essay on how to live a great life with your family! Thanxz

Hey Mike, I have a long time love of Author: David Eddings(and his wife) called The Belgariad Series. There are a total of 12 books in this series including two in-depth story outlooks for two of the main characters in the series who happen to be Father and daughter, which adds a bit of a comical view of events recalled by the daughter vs her father's recall of how things went. Eddings also has another series similar to this one, the first of that series is "The Elenium" (3books) followed by Tamuli (also 3books). Cheers

lol I like the way you think sir. I wrote a semi same post before reading down to this one. The Rivan codex (which they actually read pieces of in the books) is the 13th book in the series :D They actually wrote it... crazy to think. I haven't read it though. not really sure I want to...

David Eddings is my favorite fantasy author I will have to check out the Belgariad spin off books. He also has a stand alone book the "Redemption of Althalus", not a bad book but only read it once, not like the 3 to 4 times I've read the others

    • @jordanhoward10
      @jordanhoward10 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Todd Millar I really liked redemption of althalus too. I only got to read it once 15 years ago before I had to give it back to its owner. The castle and doors are a pretty cool concept

I use audible everyday as I have lost the ability to concentrate on a normal written novel due to an illness, Its completely changed my life and I can listen to all my old favorite books and new content as well. Its really made a difference and my library is up in the 800 book region now.
Another great video in the Cabin series, always interesting and good banter with your Padre..... as to the weather I am not a meteorologist but I have lived now in Spain for 21 years and we live at about 700 foot elevation 6 miles from the coast of the Med and 35 miles south of Barcelona. I have noticed here a dramatic change in the weather over that time slot, we used to have very cold winters the first few years we were here but gradually they are becoming warmer, this goes for the same up in andorra about 140 miles north of us a a big ski resort with mountains in the 12000 foot range, its warmer there and the ski season starts later and finishes earlier each year it seems.
We live in an area almost opposite the Balearic islands so we do get some protection but its noticeable now that the weather patters are changing over the gulf of lyon which is directly above Menorca , Its changing everywhere so something is happening, wheter we will see it in our lifetime and whether it is down to our intervention I do not know, all I do know is the weather is on the move, I have watched it for years and years and I can remember freezing cold winters down in the south of england where I lived between Portsmouth and southampton on the coast of the River Hamble, Each winter as a kid we pretty much had a guarantee of snow sometime after christmas if not Christmas, this has changed.
The weather in the UK was the predominant reason I left to come to sunnier climes , the year I left, 2000 was the worst on record I believe for being so wet, I drove the 130 miles to Dover from Warsash across country and everywhere fields were flooded in the countryside.
I left the uk on the 27th of July and up until that time from Christmas 1999 to the 27th July I dont remember a day without grey skies. It really was that bad.
So I agree with your Dad, something is happening, just no idea when and by whom. Here in sitges its lovely, guaranteed 300 plus days of sun every day and a partially cold winter although that is now down to only 3 months where we are from December to March, I dont put my heating on til around the 12 of December, might have the occasional wood fire in the woodburner but not the heating, it then goes off in MArch, by early may its warm enough just to swim in our pool.

Besides the projects themselves and the partnering and friendship between generations, one thing I love about these is the cinematography. Like the shot about 5 minutes in, showing the lighting of the stove from the inside. You don't think about these things just as a watcher, but on reflection, you'd have to unload burning materials and rescue that camera, just to shoot that little detail. Love it!

YAY! I had to pause the video and give a BIG shout out for Audible audio books. I have the same problem: active brain, hard to wind down at night. So, I found that not only do audio books help, but try this one Mike: a book you love. One you've already read. Remember as a kid, we'd ask our parents to read our favorite story all over again? Well, that's what makes you go to sleep. Here comes your favorite story, like getting into comfortable old shoes, and Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz .... Honestly, half the time, I don't remember my head touching the pillow.

I have to say, your Dad is a legend, what an interesting life he's had, and how handy is he as well as having been a fishing journalist - but your Mothere must be a saint! Every time Dad says "I've had this for YEARS!' I just shudder thinking of his hoarding all these old things, Where did he keep it all? Did you move much and did he take it all with him or did you grow up in the same house and he had numerous outbuildings? So many questions...

should collect the rain water from the slope in a 5 gallon bucket and use it to water your plants, just build a slanted gutter and line it with a piece of that plastic....also for your theroy i think it also has alot to do with the Earth tilt its changing ever so slightly and data from the past 282,000 years that shows, for the first time, a connection between the Earth's tilt called obliquity that shifts every 41,000 years, the movement of a low pressure band of clouds that is the Earth's largest source of heat and moisture-the Intertropical Convergence Zone, or ITCZ.

I'm not sure whether you've already read these, but any of these are also some great fantasy series:
      - Dunsany's fantasy stories (including 'The Gods of Pagaena', 'Time and the Gods', 'The King of Elfland's Daughter', “Idle Days on the Yann” and its two sequel stories, “A Shop in Go-By Street” and “The Avenger of Perdondaris”)
      - Robert E. Howard's original Conan adventures (which are better than their reputation gives them credit for)
      - the Gormenghast trilogy by Mervyn Peake
      - H.P. Lovecraft's dream cycle (especially 'The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath')
      - Edgar Rice Burroughs' Barsoom novels (adventures on a fantasy Mars with John Carter)
      - Edgar Rice Burroughs' original Tarzan novels and stories
      - The Time Quintet ('A Wrinkle in Time' is current a movie) by Madeleine L'Engle
      - the Narnia novels by Tolkein's friend C.S. Lewis

the Silmarilion is a fantastic tale, (i love it) but it's not for everyone. the stories of Feanor and Bern are written far diffrently than those of Bilbo and Frodo.

Osark The Goat Absolutely! I read the Hobbit first, and was amazed by its style. Never fancied Lord of the Rings books, though. They felt a lot less dynamic than Silmarilion, Children of Hurin or the Hobbit. Hand to heart, the movies had been out by the time I started reading the trilogy, which certainly influenced my experience.

You are absolutely correct on your theory. What you are describing is essentially what happened during an event called the Younger Dryas. Enough fresh water (ice melt) desalinated the North Atlantic Conveyor and it shut down and stopped drawing warm water/weather up from the equator.
    It caused a mini-iceage.

Agree with your analysis of weather patterns. The norm for the earth has been ice ages followed by warming trends then the return to an ice age. It is very complex with many arguments on each side and Randell Carlson has a series on TH-cam that goes in great detail for his side. Like your channel. Keep up the good work.

Go-Pro roasting on an open fire
Hot tea brewing on the stove
sawing pallets for the project we desire
And dad making faces in the window
Everyone know some baked beans and some bangers to
Helps to fuel a hard work day
Tapping nails to take out their bow
Will help the pallets fit just right
They know that spring times on it way
So were going to grow veggies for whenever we will stay
And when we're done building outside
We'll have a sammie and mead where it's dry
And so their offering this simple plan
So find some free pallets and old wood
Although it's been done by others in different ways
    Happy building to you.
sung to the tune of the Christmas song
