  • The last missing episode animation, The Abominable Snowmen. has been released so I must do what I am compelled to do...
Make a review video for the animations that is, not take over a monastery with robot Yeti. Just in case anyone was concerned.
The theme at the beginning is called 'Flashback' by Flash Murphy

Thanks for the kind words on Macra Terror. I was a senior animator on it and the whole studio did everything we could to make it as good as possible, so its lovely to see it being well received. :) Great video and analysis of every animation.

I've glad these are getting love and care. I watched the old classic episodes in the 80s and was very dismayed that such large gaps existed. I now buy the blurays (and will continue) in order to rewatch these fine episodes. Although slower paced, and low budget, they had a wonderful air of mystery like some Hitchcock films. I also signed up for Disney+. The animations are just great. I hope they keep it up.

I also liked the Macra Terror. Though, I was a bit annoyed that they didn't animate the Doctor, Jamie, Ben and Polly doing the Highland fling to escape the Colony.

I swear with some of the animation styles they used I was expecting Archer or Lana to just step in to help the Doctor lmao

I was a New Who convert. The past year or two I've been watching Classic Who on Britbox. I'm still learning about all the missing eps/animations/reconstructions. Even if it's of varying quality, I'm glad there's all this material! I've pretty much given up on modern entertainment these days. Looks like I have a lot to still keep me busy for a while.

Enjoy as you delve into Classic Doctor Who and uncover layer after layer of all there is to discover! :-) And totally agree with modern entertainment - maybe I’m getting old but it seems new shows are so rushed that it seems to be over before it began, and there seems to be an unnatural reliance on sappy tropes, etc. I find the era right around where TV series were just making the first tentative steps from B&W into colour are some of the all time best series ever, and due to changes in writing, attention deficit, and even cultural, even the ability to truly appreciate how groundbreaking some characters and changes were just isn’t possible (you can tell people that Emma Peel was amazing and astounding in as much detail as you want, but i dont think modern/younger people can *feel* just how impressive this was). But yes, as far as excellent series, Doctor Who of course, Wild Wild West, The Avengers, The Prisoner, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, and so many others that look promising that I can’t wait to explore and hopefully add to this list as classics! :-)

@@kateslate3228 Not like there used to be. There are some decent TV shows and movies being made now but no where near as many and the variety has gone. It's funny how you lot resort to using the word boomer as an insult when you have no real argument. Most of the time you people demonstrate how little you know about when the baby boom era actually was.

@@Trev359 It create you lot, so can't have been any good. Point is. Sturgeon's Law, dipshit. You're living in the moment and can see the entirety of content being made. Old content has already been sifted through and the classics and what's "good" has already been decided. The only other noticeable difference is people aren't being paid a living fucking wage anymore.

'Survivors' 1975-77, 'Changes' '75, 'Children of the Stones' '75, 'Blake's 7' 1978-81, 'Day of the Triffids' 1981...'Chocky', 'The Moon Stallion', 'Beasts', 'West Country Tales'...there are so many great series from pretty well 1970 (the advent of colour TV and John Pertwee as Doctor Who - the best imo) through to about 1984. That 15 year period was the true golden age of TV drama

A lot of these reconstructions: ‘Let’s improve on the originals!’

I do like the fully continuous, full screen, color episodes. At first, I wanted them to be faithful to the transmitted version, but I think it's better to go with the story. In other words, make the story work. If someone wants to see it in black and white, fine, include that too as part of the release -- as well as the not-filled-plot holes -- if they want. Why not?

Very enjoyable video. Thanks. Hopefully, it’s just a coincidence that the end of current funding on animations was announced shortly after all the negative criticism regarding Web of Fear, but I believe BBC Studios do listen to the fans. That’s why we should all email BBC Studios with our positive comments and requests for the return of the animations ASAP. I did, and got a reply. Look at what the fans of American TV series The Expanse achieved. Surely, during the 60th anniversary year, we could do the same?

Obviously Tom & Liz were my childhood TARDIS double act. More recently Peter & my beloved Jenna. I enjoy the animations. Yes the quality varies. The upcoming toymaker looks hideous!

One of the reasons I chose not to buy the special edition of Power of the Daleks is because they changed the 2nd Doctor's pants to being a bland colour. I also never had a problem with it. Now you've shown scenes were cut I'm even more glad I have the first animated version.

The best company that animated the lost story is Studio 55 which is both defunct and absorbed by the BBC. They did The Reign of Terror , the 10th Planet and Moonbase.
Beggars can’t be choosers but the other amalgamated parties that did the later projects of Troughton’s lost episode is meh to it looks like a coloring book. Especially when they cut out scenes that was originally in that episode.
Ex: Macra Terror, the Doctor goes into a grooming chamber to give him a hair and outfit cleaning which ends in child comedic fun. That scene was cut and moved forward.

The best ever is still the invasion. Nothing has ever matched that in terms of its combination of stylishness and practicality. The worst is Reign of Terror, followed closely by Moonbase. Abomiable atrocities of animation barely dignifying the term. Vomit inducing.
