gods the unified grid system on paper sounds like an amazing way to really reinforce builds. actually just the ability to build multiple pipelines next to eachother like that is gamechanging (get it?)
once the community gets things going and the modders fix whatever the devs failed at we are gonna get some extremely beautiful highly functional ships XD
Please with the combined grid system, add functional pipes and power cables. It will make combat FAR MORE interesting if you can sever critical power cables and fluid pipes, etc.
In lore, the whole grid system exists to eliminate the need for power cables. As for fluid pipes, well we do have to build the conveyor systems ourselves.
It’s great that we can build details like this from 25cm blocks. But purpose made decoration blocks like beds or corridors are more practical, faster to build and look better. Sure I can have blueprints of these custom built decorations and paste them in. But I’m still looking forward to seeing what decor blocks we will get.
@lagunaloire2710 in that case yes, but, based on other videos, I believe at the 0.25 grid level each block behaves as the old system... But I may be wrong, of course.
@@lvwpy in the new system, each block has its collision/building box sculpted to the model. Meaning that you CAN, if you really want to, hide a Medbay behind a 0.25cm wall and leave just the Terminal and the wardrobe exposed. If you can see free space in which to place a 0.25cm block, chances are you can put a block there, unless it's physically inside the model of course.
be honest with them you and me as well and im pretty sure 99.9% of the playerbase want the end product to be an online pvpve survival base building game we want it to be Rust in Space we want DayZ but with the ability to build rockets and have a base on the moon we want ark surival evolved but instead of dinosaurs its spaceships and crazy vehicles we build the fact is if they cant deliver minimum 200+ player official servers with actual good pve content that is required for tech progression and forces players to encounter each other and fight or work together and if they cant make the player held guns feel good like an actual well designed shooter and if they cant make the player built base defenses work to prevent cheesy exploit based raiding then the game will fail hard and only be played by autistic tards who are happy to play singleplayer for 10k+ hours like they did in SE1
Finally will be able to put lights where I want, able to make custom small button panels, thin interior walls with doors, decorate some other large blocks the way I want and so on...
I do have a concern about the PCU cost of using these small blocks to create detail. I can see that ballooning very easily with things like the conduits that were shown. Still looking forward to it, though.
pcu limit is being removed is what i heard supposedly they want to have no pcu limit then just figure out how to optimize the game to handle this but i suspect they will have more strict automatic removal of unused grids, honestly they should just have an upkeep system like rust does anything you build needs upkeep depending on what blocks are used if your structure/ship has crazy end game blocks it adds harder to acquire resources for upkeep this would prevent overbuilding but also not put any limit on how much you can build if you have the resources to sustain it you can build it
@@ChrisHöppner Actually, it can, it has better graphics, ray tracing, more debris, higher speed limit, etc, but the devs raising the PCU limit is a sign that the game will run better

i have no issue if they hold the multiplayer back till the last phase as long as i get my 200+ player servers base building pvpve survival space engineering game.... the only thing i want is space engineers 2 to be Rust/dayz/ark in space like i dont give a shit about the survival mode if i cant find other players and raid their base or have them raid mine and have to defend it thats the true endgame experience for this kinda of game is raiding and getting raided by other players if they fail to deliver it this time keen is dead to me and i wont accept them leaving those features up to the modding community
FPS seems low during the gameplay portion of the video. If Cities Skylines 2 and KSP 2 are of any indication this is a bad sign. Fingers crossed that SE2 won't go the same path.
I'm sorry. The graphics look better, the microblocks are nice... but this still feels like a trailer for SE1. And I bought that in Alpha. And Medieval Engineers in Alpha.
I occasionally come back to space engineers and I think it's an amazing sandbox. so much creative freedom, and yet the issue is always what do you do? unless you're in a big server with player factions and conflicts, there's nothing. it turns me away from the game every time I try to get back in. space engineers 2 above all else, needs some form of story or ai adversary to compete with or fight. perhaps in this new star system, there are alien hostiles or lots of piracy. literally anything to do once you've got you big ships with guns. npc characters to talk and interact with. some form of story to engage with. you guys nailed the building and exploration with the first game now all you need is a payoff for the building and exploration.
none of this matters if you cant deliver a pvp base building survival game with 200+ player servers minimum and actual good well designed pve content required for tech progression so it encourages players to show up to these pve locations and fight or work together with each other even without ships even on foot with just guns also the games player equipped guns ignoring all the space engineering need to feel good isolated as shooter game and an actual well thought out map of the solar system with an actual size limit/kill box if you go to far out or some other system to prevent players from just building super far far away from everyone else like the solar system map size should make it so getting from 1 planet to another without jump drives is possible within a reasonable amount of time so people who live on 1 planet can go raid another planet the game should be aimed to have a functional gameplay loop similar to rust if keen software cant deliver that then i will consider space engineers 2 a failure, they have the chance to steal players from games like rust, dayz, ark they have the chance to make crazy money from regular DLC content just like rust does but they will likely fail as i think they are to obsessed with making the best spaceship/scifi building simulation and not building upon it with an actual fun multiplayer gameplay loop
Completely disagree. There's a large portion of SE players who never touch multiplayer and are perfectly happy that way. Basic gameplay systems and loops are way more important than multiplayer!
Flashbacks to Space Engineers One 2013 ;)
Cool but cant wait for survival.
Same here 😂
we need that way sooner
Same thoughts for multiplayer
I want a good survival mode. Let me get my factorio brain get revved up.
@Perryr4t rather a bit later but well made
Endless hours of greebling incoming!
The new buildingSystem is goning to be great. (6 days to go guys)
for sure, no large grid, and small grid, just grid.
Going to be fun to toy around with, especially when they introduce ai blocks and connectors, I wonder what people will come up with

This level of details will drive me crazy as a detailer. 🤓
Heeeelllllo there and wellllcome. I heard you like detailing, so i added details to your details
The Klingon beds are a nice touch.
I think we need it more like base game>multiplayer>survival>rest of the roadmap
Just as beautiful as in SE 1
God knows the workshop is gonna be flooded with amazing designs and i look foward to it all
I love it every time they say unified grid system
Builds in SE2 are going to be insane!
Can't wait to build in this. And I really hope someone brings back the 2cm beam system mod.
Been building modules endlessly in anticipation of porting over my BPs! Can’t wait to detail them further!
I dont think you can port SE1 to SE2
@ u can 👌
Amazing are we going to get some of the trailer ships??
