I've been fighting this rear latch problem for at least 10-years. All kinds of crazy solutions that didn't last. Got tired while trying to drill out the rivet that holds the root problem, the spring steel clip the doesn't hold the threaded rod. In frustration, I got on Amazon searched for Cherokee rear latch, low and behold, didn't find one but two replacement latch assemblies. My key was a different way to hold the threaded rod. Be another week before it arrives but the holder is at least different. At $17 a bargain if it solves the damn rear latch.
Hey mate, the one I currently have in the workshop, the clip is metal and extremely fatigued, do you have a part number for a replacement clip? I'm in Victoria Australia and can't find info on the clip anywhere! Cheers.
