Glad you mentioned Woolrich, It's gotta be the most underrated down jacket brand. Ive been wearing my Artic parka for years and it has kept me so warm every winter
Goose is premium, TNF uses goose. Canada Goose uses duck, and most cheaper down jackets use duck, years sgo I bought a cheap $60 down jacket from Jacob (a mid tier mall store) and they also used 70/30 duck.😂
@@oh_k8i have a arne parka coat that cost me less than 200 and that has goose. Keeps me warm at even extreme weather conditions. Sue canada goose. Because they shouldn't be charging a premium price for something that's inferior to goose down. There are coats and lightweight jackets that used to cost just under 500 and now the same ones cost over 700 and the parka coats used to cost under 900 and now they're over a grand. It's ridiculous. I hope people start boycotting. The only reason people now buy Canada goose is for the label. It's a luxury brand now and they're focusing on their brand than focusing on the internal materials. You can't even wear any of their parkas in heavy rain or downpours
@mohammedfaiisal I don't think we are disagreeing about anything here, except Arne doesn't use goose down, again, it's duck, but $200 is the right price point for duck. You won't find goose down jackets at retail price for $200, unless you've managed to go back in time at least 25 years or more.
I purchased an Eddie Bauer parka at their outlet store for $99.00 on a hot summer day. I have it 10 + years and it’s still keeping me warm on those brutal cold days.
Some of the best parkas are made by a small British company called Shackleton. They have some expensive stuff but it’s quality, construction, materials and design are top tier. If you really need some next level cold/weather protection I’d look there.
Absolutely the LL Bean Wind Challenger ski parka. It has Down Tek DWR treated 650 fill GOOSE down inside WOVEN baffles, not sewn-thru. Helmet compatible fully adjustable hood with internal front hood pulls (no cords slapping you in the face in windy conditions or ski runs). 4 outside pockets and 2 inside pockets, pit zips, double layer of fabric on hood, shoulders and elbow-to-wrist areas. At $349.00 not a cheap date but worth every penny. I love my parka's features. LL Bean quality and great customer service too. With a medium base layer or fishnet base layer and heavy Norwegian sweater it would easily keep me warm at -15 F. given proper base layer, insulated pants, boots and mittens.
Just bought a $500 superior 650 down Arctic Parka for $200 during black Friday sale at Eddie Bauer. Canada Goose and North Face never have those kinds of deals, and the quality and warmth are the same.
You should look into the Sail Racing Pole Down Vectran. It’s a Swedish limited edition, 800FP, high fill weight, expedition jacket made for the harshest environments on earth. Wore mine in temperatures ranging from -20c down to -38c last winter, excluding the windchill. Waterproof, with coated downclusters.
Get a one inch thickness sheepskin jacket, if you want to stay warmer than a down jacket. Wear the appropriate head gear to more regulate your bodys temperatures .
I actually did a detailed review on Moose Knuckles and Mackage. You can check it out here: Mackage: th-cam.com/video/-y1j7NSXHYI/w-d-xo.html Moose Knuckles: th-cam.com/video/c-btd2ym-gw/w-d-xo.html
Eddie Bauer Superior down series. The superior down bomber, the superior down jacket (discontinued) the superior down parka and the superior down Coat are the warmest in their close. 650 Fill power down (canada goose uses 625fp) at 80% down 20%% feathers. Fully waterproof fabric, all the seams are sealed, YKK zippers everywhere, nice cargo pockets, hand warmer pockets and normal pockets. Very durable. Very warm. Their bomber looks better than the canada goose Chilliwack bomber jacket AND is warmer. I also have the the parka for the coldest days -25c and below. The bomber is good for most of, if not all of winter in Montreal (Montreal is colder than Toronto). Make sure you buy it on Black Friday or Boxing Day. Do not pay full price because they are heavily discounted on holidays. They are the best for the price. Plain and simple.
Just bought a $500 superior 650 down Arctic Parka for $200 during black Friday sale. Canada Goose and North Face never have those kinds of deals, and the quality and warmth are the same. I'm shocked he didn't include Eddie Bauer.
Love your vids, next time could you review bomber jackets like parajumpers gobi jacket and an amazing brand pyrenex, there bomber jackets are amazing and have some history behind them anyways great vid🎉
hi, based on your review I am interested in ordering the Woolrich. However, I don;t know of any local dealers in Toronto, Canada that carries this brand and will have to order online. You mentioned you wear medium, do you mind sharing your height/weight or other measurements?
One question: how is it possible to compare fill power with cubic inches (cuin)? Some brands indicate the filling in fill power and others in cubic inches (cuin). Thanks for your replies.😊
I can't believe you didn't mention Eddie Bauer. Just bought a $500 superior 650 down Arctic Parka for $200 during black Friday sale. Canada Goose and North Face never have those kinds of deals, and the quality and warmth are the same.
Whats your height? I probably get the uniqlo hopefully with a black friday deal. I just dont think they look too stylish with the narrow look. Cropped and more bulky is my liking but to get that in combination with quality is alot pricey.
5'10 (178 cm). You might like the North Face Nuptse jacket. It has a cropped and bulky look. Check out my review here: th-cam.com/video/-y1j7NSXHYI/w-d-xo.html
Uniqlo has good value(they have higher grade & higher prices down jackets), but the issue of Uniqlo down jackets is they tell you don’t wash them, not even dry clean🤔 There is another brand which got down jackets which got high fill power, the price is around North Face price & if they go on sale their price pretty much better than all outdoor brands😉 also their warranty are the best compared to all brands 😁
@ thanks! In the UK we have two versions of the Mcmurdo, one for £450 and one for £720. The latter being the gore tex version. Do you think the cold weather performance would be the same between them both or would the gore tex version be warmer? Love the vids btw! Keep them coming 👍🇬🇧

You should have included parajumper’s cloud jacket!!! That’s their warmest puffer jacket!
@@dietman AH thanks for the rec. I tried their Gobi bomber before and it was a solid jacket!

The fact that Canada Goose uses duck down and not goose down is ridiculous! They should call themselves Canada Duck instead
Let's sue

It depends on which parka you buy. If you buy their Resolute or the other high end Parka, they use Goose down and it's rated for lower temperatures.
I purchased an Eddie Bauer parka at their outlet store for $99.00 on a hot summer day. I have it 10 + years and it’s still keeping me warm on those brutal cold days.
Eddie Bauer down jackets are constantly on sale for around 100-150 dollars.
I bought a UNIQLO parka, and got soaking wet in Japan.
Awesome and complete review off down jackets Nelson! I gotta go with the CG MacMillan for safer cities and Uniqlo for ghetto areas
haha smart move. Stay safe out there and I appreciate the comment!

I would rather pay 200 for wool underwear and the 400 North Face rather than spending 1000+ for the Canada Goose. That will definitely be warmer

Moose Knuckles
Eddie Bauer
Triple Fat Goose
helly hansen
1:50 you do not want snaps if you are wearing gloves. velcro all the way. Not everyone wears these jackets to walk two blocks to whole foods.
One critical miss on jackets from North Face. The Nuptse 2 down jacket is perfect in my eyes as an ex mountaineer
Good to know. I haven’t tried the nuptse 2 before but I have the retro ‘96 nuptse and I’m pretty disappointed on that jacket

Hello, why do you pronounce ‘Goose’ with a ‘z’ sound when it is actually an ‘s’ sound?
why do people buy coats based on brand but not function to the climate where they live
Why do people buy this shzpeless jacket or 👻🤡👻🤡
