I know y'all mean well, but has anyone there watched an Orangutan documentary to see how they live naturally? They are actually quite solitary, but, only after a mother spends five or six YEARS in constant contact, teaching her baby how to survive. So that's what an Orangutan baby is instinctually expecting. Anyone who's ever had mental pain before can easily see it in the eyes of that living being... I don't have the answers though, and even though. I would say make it look like a jungle in there and not so artificial, but that costs money. And most of the humans with the most money, and the most power to do anything, got that way by putting profit before the people, before ANYTHING ELSE! I have been tricked to be unaware my whole life, like most everyone else, I'm responsible for contributing to a genocide of unimaginable proportions. Not just of Orangutans, but also Gibbons, Gorillas, and pretty much any other endangered species. So I don't have room to say anything... FEAR is the true enemy folks, the only enemy. And our best weapon against fear is what? Knowledge right?
Compassion much? Someone please, please send this dear little baby to a proper Orangutan rescue/rehab. They need to be held like human babies! Watching this little guys torment is heart breaking.
Are these lone baby apes the result of humans taking them away from their mother, in which case it is cruelty, or are they from mothers that reject them, in which case they should be left in the cage with the mother to let nature take its course.
So you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. You are saying that this baby orang is having a worse life because it is at this zoo/rehab? you realize that 99% of orphans are because their mothers were killed to sell them as bush meat or babies into oet trade. So yea he might be in a cage but they will take care of him and at least give him the time he deserves with his kind.
