I had a 1966 Cadillac Coupe Deville. The best car I ever owned. Quality and Power. They don’t make cars like that anymore.

I’m thinking of buying one but I heard in a safety crash test their unsafe and can cause more of a fatality to me if I’m involved in a wreck

I was in junior high then, the parents of my girlfriend had a 1966 beige Calais 4-door hardtop. While I was too young to drive, I rode in it dozens of times. My parents had a loaded 1966 Bonneville, which seemed smooth and quiet until getting in this car. I noticed that it wasn't nearly as powerful as my parents' Pontiac, but the difference in the two cars was remarkable. What I particularly remember was the difference in the seats: those in the Cadillac were more firm and supportive. Though this was the bottom-line Cadillac, replacing the Series 62, one would never know it from the silence and the quality. And the temperature control was amazing; only a handful of cars had it back in the 1966 model year. Imperial didn't have it yet and Lincoln only got it that year.

When I used to drive my family’s 65 Fleetwood, I always marveled at how easy the powered steering was!! Hopefully you didn’t stray too far from home base doing this video! The gas gauge looked a little low?? And, these cars weren’t known for great gas mileage!! You might try Marvel Mystery Oil to quiet down those lifters...

My first Caddy was a 66Calais sedan. Bought it in 73 for $500.00. Cars were waaay cheaper then. Kept it for 3 years and gave to my Father in law. He drover it for another 10 years until the floor board rusted out so bad we were afraid the seat would fall through. Next was a 69 sedan de ville. Last one I could afford was a 71 Coupe de ville. Def. was my favorite.

Were the luxury cars of this vintage louder?
Even the ones that say they have been restored seem loud to me. These were before my time...but the luxury cars I remember, as a kid in the 70's,were whisper quiet when they were new

1966 is the last year of the greatest Cadillacs ever made.
Please tell me what the grille is, in the dash pad, centered over the speedometer.
    Thank you!

Very noisy for a caddie, engin ticks, exhaust system leaks, wipers blades sqeaks, tires bumping on the road indicates bad shocks,,,
    " Wait a minute " I'm not buying it..
