For a 42’ Cat that a party of family or close friends will spend no more than 10 days in protected waters, it looks good. You have to agree and appreciate Bobby’s critique. It’s a nice condo to to base excursions from after 3 hour motors from anchorage to anchorage. Thx Sailing Doodles.

Yea, so it's not a high-end sailing cat.... but for a group or family that isn't concerned with workmanship and fancy features it's a nice lower-cost way to get out on the water! I like that there are lower-cost options for people. Thanks for featuring and showing that cat.

The coolest feature of that catamaran is the garage door that opens up the bridge. Seawind has done pretty much the same with their tri-fold door system. The Seawind seem to be much better boats for sailing. The Bali look more like motorboats. Maybe they would be better without the mast.
I saw a documentary on how catamarans are kept together. It was riveting.

Would I rent one for a few weeks ?/ Yes
Would I own one to live on for more than a few months ?/ No
But some of the design features are pretty cool !! But they lack in cabin space, showers and a few other things

Very good coverage. I don’t have a problem with the individual head and shared shower, cosy, but I think that would work well with a group of 8. What I am concerned about is the lack of escape hatches from the cabins. I would have thought that is a mandatory feature of any vessel. Certainly has been the case for any mono I have owned or crewed on. Maybe the forward and aft egress from the salon/galley negates this requirement.

Seems like there's more downsides than there are upsides to this cat, no trampoline, undersized generator, reduced main sail, tiny cabins, no cabin hatches, poorly thought out door swings and a shared shower. Looks like Bali missed the mark on this one! 😢
I have sailed on the Bali und the handling and quality is pretty sub par!!

You have to keep in mind it’s only 42’. It’s like the older Leopard and lagoon 38’ models. And this is a charter boat not something spec built for a single experienced owner. So if you bought one, you can add whatever you want.

I live in northern MI & wanted to say that watching your channel had made me want to find a older sail boat to fix up and go on local cruises on lake Huron..

I'm sorry. But comparing this to the Dark Side is like a Yugo to a Cadillac. ;) I'm old and I like my comfort. Bobby is younger. ;) I don't like to sweat, unless I really need to. I know while underway, there is a lot of breeze, so would be much more pleasant. But still enjoy watching Bobby's videos.

I don't understand their charter program. Can't I as an individual buy the whole thing at once and do whatever I want with the boat? What kind of experiment is this?
The generator, cabin ventilation and the cabin size issues are a no-no.....

Odd, the average house in Norway uses a bit over 2100 kWh on average pr day, this is calculated from the yearly average from a typical house usage. That small cat needs how much to run it's system?
This is constant use, with lows and highs averaged out, so there are peeks that will be twice the average, the use also drops during summer and goes way up during winter, and the number above is the average. So I'm wondering how much it would take for a cat to handle that sort of load.
If the system we run on a catamaran can do the same things, more or less, but with way less power, shouldn't we upgrade our homes in stead?
My mind throws these weird questions at me, sorry!

As soaked as your shirt is, you should have run the A/C! Be certain to take Magnesium Citrate twice daily to replace all you are loosing in your sweating. Otherwise cramps, muscle jitters, charlie horses, etc happens.

Good video 😀 I think you should have ordered a bigger cat there are a lot of negative generator to small sails are not really functional head's small cabins small and you can't sail in the ocean why did you get a 60 foot with a the best accommodation big generator to run all AC's and all electronics but it's a nice cat 🤔😃

Have you guys never heard of sharing a review on something you own or a service you have used and have you never heard of sponsor deals? He likely got a discount or other incentive to show off the charter (can't remember if his new boat is from them) so it is a business obligation and he gave a detailed and constructive review that is good for people who want to buy a boat or those who would charter for a short time. The viewer can decide if the boat is a good option for them and some viewers only watch to live vicariously through him and may find it interesting to see how the experience is on that boat.
@@CGT80 yeah but there’s also something to be said about integrity. You could almost see him kicking himself over this walkthrough. This is a bad boat and Bobby knew it. I’m pretty certain this will be the last review he does of a bad boat. I really do think he wised up after this one.
@@BreinGames Yes, I would agree he may have been between a rock and a hard spot and did what he had to. The thumbs down on one video wouldn't help, but I'm not sure if it was all that bad for him, in the big picture, unless he hated the experience on that boat. It was a short trip and he will likely not sail that model again and he probably took care of his obligation of advertising it. I'm sure his sponsors don't want him to end up giving poor reviews either, so hopefully he doesn't end up in this situation again.

The Bali range was not produced to make catana's boats more affordable or accessible, they were made to compete in the charter market against FP and Lagoon to make more money...plain and simple. Back in 2014, I was in the market for a Catana catamaran...and still own a 471 today. I saw the 1st Bali at the Paris boat show in 2014....what a disappointment. It is not at all a reflection of what Catana strives for with its quality and performance with its original range, and in my opinion should not be considered linked whatsoever except financially...
the squeeky creeky ikea quality interior is sus. maybe the hull is better quality but this looks like a hard pass to me.

Doesn't even sound like a good boat for short island hopping trips.
So… good cheap cat for maximum profit in a chartering fleet. But if you want to own one of these as a live-aboard, probably going to frustrate you. Underpowered, under sailed, lots of opportunity to ‘Break Out Another Thousand’.

That seems like an AWEFUL design and they need to stick with their high end builds. Nets also keep you safe from waves filling the front stuffing or flipping! 🙄 and that spare bathroom makes NO SENSE.
