Studying Business & Computer Science at UBC. I considered the double degree program but the /5 year/ degree length was ultimately what put me off personally (can't afford it. i can't do that to my parents. I'd feel so guilty. Especially bc international student fees are so crazy expensive already). UBC's combined major program was ultimately the best choice for me & my situation. Its cool to see other people in a similar business-tech combo as me!
COOP, i want to know more. is it paid? how does it work? is COOP unique to canada system? did you live on campus all the time there? how does it work? is it built into the program? how should i start preparing myself for the COOP? what is a COOP schedule like?
Thank you for sharing this amazing video !!! is bachelors of mathematics with computer science major and business specialization available at UW ? and how much thhis program is helpful in the tech industry ?

I'm surprised how good of a rep Waterloo has in tech. I see a lot of students getting great internships and jobs. Yet, its ranked 9 in best schools in Canada. How is that? Utoronto UBC, McGill are all ranked much higher.
It’s because the UWaterloo is focused on learning practical stuff(related to jobs) where other schools are focused on academics, labs, and paper works. UWaterloo doesn’t put much work on doing that and instead, they work on helping students learn practical affairs and get jobs through it. Also, UWaterloo is extremely focused on STEM field and doesn’t have college of medicine, unlike other well known universities, which has a huge affect when ranking schools.
It’s mostly because Waterloo is way more focused on Mathematics, Computer Science, and Engineering. They are ranked #1 and #2 in Canada for STEM. The main reason they are ranked low overall is the fact that they don’t currently have a med school which can drastically lower a rating of a school. But for STEM it’s definitely the best school in the country.
Hey there.....well am from india and aiming for uw this year the thing is I have a gpa of 3.7(unweighted) and have some extracurricular as well such as one startup (which didn't work well but yea I financed it with freelancing), have a bit of computer hardware expertise), have been coding in php for last one year.....was a vb6 programmer in grade 6-7....Am just worried how the peeps have 95% above average and mine is just summing up to 90%.....are there any chances I get into uw? @@Annie-ro5od Ah that makes much sense. Waterloo definitely does have a great rep in the tech industry.
