HEY YOU !! you are my competition!!! ON etsey u also sell chaeto! I had to mark mine super cheap cuz ur product had sooo many reviews! But now my product sold out. I am big fan :) I subbed
Couldn’t you grow copepods and just pour a little extra water from the display tank in a cup so it does overflow them? Just an idea bc I really want to try this
Your clowns did you introduce them together or separately im wondering if i should wait a month or not i think i should for bio load but worried it will get territorial
This current air pump isn't even at full strength...when I use full strength it creates a annoying bubbling noise...it creates a bit more flow, but the noise is intolerable!
they come with plastic attachments to angle the box so the water flows to the drain section to prevent over flowing. Get a stronger pump . My box drains out into the display probably around a teaspoon every 5 seconds. That slow drip is really bad !
You can buy panel lights on amazon for 20 bucks they come on sets of 2 and they’re paper thin and grow chaeto like crazy. Just tape it to the back of the refugium
Wow MANY questions, your tank looks so healthy! What are your nitrate/phos levels? What kind of water changes do you do? And how many fish/feeding schedule? B/c for those lil fuges to be your only nutrient export is crazy.
Thank you. I have 6 fish, fed once a day varying with flake and frozen foods. Once a week 10-15% water changes. According to my API test kit nitrates, nitrites are both 0...never used a phos tester
As small as the container is...most filters would be too strong and cause it to overflow over the edges because the drainage is only meant to handle to little spill of water
Initially the sand wasn't live...it was regular substrate sand but you know after a year on the tank its live now. I also added small pieces of live rock, snail shells and a few pieces of dead coral that already had beneficial bacteria on it
that nice im going to buy one i have a 20 gallon tank with about 15 fish and a 10 gallon tank with 3 cichilds and 1 pleco and i also have a 55 gallon that im resealing i want to move my 20 gallon fish to my 55 gallon and my 10 gallon cichilds to my 20 gallon. Im going to buy one because my cichilds eat or destroy any plants i put in there tank with that the plants can remove the nitrates with out being around the cichilds and using the same water.
Awesome ingenuity! Def trying this in my freshwater and i already have all the supplies!
I've added a small powerhead to mine and its perfect. Loads of amphipods and mysis shrimp are multiplying inside. I recomend to give it a shot
Thanks, that's what I originally wanted with mine so I'll look for pump small enough
what power head did you use?
What pump did you use
Don't remember exactly. Some little chinese one. On my channel there's a video where I put it together. Maybe that's gonna be usefull
Great idea! Much more economical than buying an aqua clear filter to mod into a fuge.
I got the same exact one used a small put lower the flow of pump and it flows nice like a waterfall

Thank you!
Very good idea. I'll definitely pick one of these up now.
Thank you...they are very handy products!
That's a sweet idea

Sounds possible?!?!?!
This is a very clever idea. You definitely thought outside of the (breeder) box.🤣
Kimberly Smith gg lol
Lol, thanks! This product started becoming popular right around the same time I started this tank so when I saw it I immediately thought refugium!
Nice video man! Keep up the great work!
Thank You!
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS Welcome!
Your clowns did you introduce them together or separately im wondering if i should wait a month or not i think i should for bio load but worried it will get territorial
I had my biggest for about a year then added the other 4 together
@@dwsdarius ok thanks
no skimmer on your reef saltwater tank?
No skimmer...no problem! This is reef tank only has a filter, light and these two refugiums and I have SPS, LPS, Soft corals and anemones thriving!
ok, never own saltwater tank, i wuld like to , but i have to pass the first hurdle, wife...LOL
lol
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS ...
what filteration you use.. ??
What if you tried a stronger air pump? Might that get the flow up a lil bit? Congrats on catching the tropheus.
This current air pump isn't even at full strength...when I use full strength it creates a annoying bubbling noise...it creates a bit more flow, but the noise is intolerable!
Gochu bro, figured id throw it out there
Hi Darius..♥♥well done.. My fav is learning how to save money and make it myself!! great share!! =D♥♥
Thanks Deb!
If your big filter is close enough you can set up a small tube to act like a siphon from the back of the filter to the hang on boxes
Interesting, I'll have to experiment to see what your talking about!
You can convert an aquaclear filter into a refugium without too much trouble if you have some plastic laying around too
Yes and that would have a good amount of flow...thanks
But cost about 50$

Do you recall the name of them?
Very cool bro. thank you!
Thank You
DWS, did you have to cycle your hob fuges?
No, its sharing the same water from my display so no need
DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS figured so but wanted to make sure. You still running them?
Wow MANY questions, your tank looks so healthy! What are your nitrate/phos levels? What kind of water changes do you do? And how many fish/feeding schedule? B/c for those lil fuges to be your only nutrient export is crazy.

DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS thanks for response. Hope I can have luck with similar setup in a 10 gallon.
What about using a small pump from a table-top fountain for better flow?
As small as the container is...most filters would be too strong and cause it to overflow over the edges because the drainage is only meant to handle to little spill of water
Fired Up Idea!!!
Thanks Tim...it works pretty well
Nice!
Thank You!
May I know whats inside the refugium box other than the algae, are those live sand as well?
Initially the sand wasn't live...it was regular substrate sand but you know after a year on the tank its live now. I also added small pieces of live rock, snail shells and a few pieces of dead coral that already had beneficial bacteria on it
correction...that wasn't sand it was crushed coral as a substrate in the refugium

Nice...this will definitely do the trick!
15 fish in a 20 gallon?
👍
Do you have sump connected to your reef tank
Pk.pankaj Kumar f
Get an adjustable pump so you can adjust the flow bro
Who made this first? You or Karol?
Karol who? I didn't see anyone do this before I tried...but check the video upload dates and you'll know
@@dwsdarius Ok, I've adopted your technique and it seems to be working well.
Thanks for sharing! Subbed 😊
Cool but those medium size boxes are $20 here in canada :/
Wow!
@@dwsdarius unfortunately..lol xD
Drinking game, Been taking a shot everytime he says "refugium".....soh ffahr nuthhng....nout eben ayy buhzz
The turn over in those refugiums would be pointless.
Not really, it sustains plant life and even though its slow, it still benefits tank
those plants are dying and likely increasing the nitrates on your aquarium, they need more flow and more light
not plants
Good thing they aren’t plants lol...
