3 years ago I started my whisky Journey and I have you and the magnificent bastards to thank for that, seeing Ardbeg mkes me think of Rex's beautiful OOOOOGDAL
I have Don Quichot on my bookshelf for 10 years. Now I'm going to read it.
Thank you for explaining why Don Quixote is so important to the back story of Wizards Academy. Always wondered but never knew the reason until this video. Sláinte.
I'm glad the true explanation for the painting somehow tied into what I guessed at last week. And, on another note, having the Three Wise Men be Wizard instead. AMAZING upgrade to that story in the bible!
"Be careful what you admire" being a way to learn more about a person is truly thought provoking. It made me stop and look at what I have on the walls of my apartment.
A poster of "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grand" by Georges Seurat on the wall near my desk. A copy of "Grace" by Eric Enstrom that used to be my grandmothers hanging on the wall in the dining area. And a Persian Belly dancer felt tapestry in my bedroom, which I still don't know how I came to possess. Those are only a few, and I have no idea what that says about me to others, but it does give pause to reflect. 🖖😎🥃
Loving the story and the tasting. Loving this format.
I always look forward to these videos that contain such profound life lessons. Time to dust off my copy of Don Quixote for another read. Thanks Daniel.
Definitely one of my favorite episodes.
:')
Gonna try and make a pilgrimage next Saturday to Fang and Feather. Hope to see some of you MBs there
Love the book and its many ways of interpreting. Can re-read it and always get something new. Thanks for stating Ardbeg 10 is great if we are happy with it!
I think Daniel would still say that the best whisky is the whisky you like, the way you like to drink it. 🥃🙂
Find out what people admire and it will tell you something important about them. Excellent observation and point!
One of my first memories in life was realizing my great grandmother had something special. She was a pistol packing hell on wheels looking like Dorothy from Wizard of Oz. As I grew up she more than lived up to everything I imagined was inside of her, and of course the stories of her youth as well. She worked until she was 90 babysitting the kids in the poor neighborhood where my family was from. During the depression she cleaned out a hotel where she housed and fed men who had lost their jobs in New Orleans. She once burned down half of the Ponchatoula Jailhouse when the sheriff told the bail bondsman to leave town so she couldn't bail out of jail, because he was trying to prevent a homicide. The stories go on and on, but for me as a kid I knew she had something special something that I wanted for myself.
Cheers everyone =)
When I first tried Ardbeg I thought it tasted like a pirate ship on fire, and I've been an Ardbeg fan ever since. The Ardbeg 10 is my go-to; I don't think adding that Sauterne sweetness could improve it, and I am kind of balking at the price point, but this does sound interesting. Great video, loved the Cervantes references and the three Magi. Excellent review.
Incredible story telling at its best.
This new format is great and enjoyable. I've learned something new to research pretty much every video. Thanks for all the work and effort that goes into each release. Cheers
Loving these new vault vids!
Great video. Not just the Ardbeg ( a favorite of mine) but the whole thread of hero or lunatic. People have to follow their star to be a completed human. Love it!
lol'ed at the 'good morning to ya' bit. Can't say that I've never done that. 🤣
Thank you, this is very helpful!
bravo Daniel, this is great storytelling from the whiskey to literature/philosophy, to life advice. Glad you are taking the channel in this direction. And yes your take on Ardbeg here is spot on (get the 10!)
Love it. Hey I got that bottle
Daniel, nice job. Completely agree who you or what you surround yourself completely defines you. The saying goes birds of feather flock together. Keep up the good work love the stuff.
You are a great storyteller. Loved the video.

Thanks for the video 🥃
The content we consume is very telling, and has a direct impact on our being. Lots of traps out there doing their best to ensnare us and our attention.
Daniel your talks here are always special. As for this amazing expression I love it! It's also special as I feel so much for Lagavulin, Ardbeg and Laphroaig, in that order!! Yes his Ardbeg expression was too expensive and while I was able to purchase bottles and have one still unopened I would not pay such a hefty price for Ardbeg Anthology again. Now if it was the new Ardbeg 19? Yes!! I just bought two and they are probably way overpriced but outstanding! Have an amazing day! Be well! 🙂
Whiskey fixes everything..even a stubborn cough 😉
I am enjoying this community. Thank you whisk(e)y
For Ardbeg I describe their vegetal note as Celery Stalks and Asparagus. But the “woody” end of the Asparagus
Welcome all Whiskey Vaulters to Story Time with Daniel!
I love Ardbeg but have yet to try this one.
I need to see this harpy for myself...for uhh...research reasons. Time to down a whole bottle of ardbeg xD enjoy the content you're making
Tilting At Windmills is the name of my Steve Windwood coverband.
For a second I thought you said "Wiser's" at the start....I'm like "but - Ardbeg's not a Canadian whisky!" 😵🤣🤣
I like your channel. It seems like the new format would be on PBS😂
It's *MUCH* better than PBS.
Love me some Jack Mcdevitt. The Academy series (starts with Engines of God) is just plain old fun science fiction adventure. I'd recommend it to anyone.
Gonna be honest here, I honestly thought that painting of the 3 Wisemen was a tribute to Star Wars. The intense blue light resembles more of the original poster from Episode IV
I see so many people in my family that define themselves by the things outside of them , aka letting those things define them instead of the other way around. Or they will make sure and broadcast one thing about themselves by promoting one thing.
Hmm, in slovak translation, Qijote said that he windmills are gigents, not dragons... Anyway, "fighting windmills" is a common saying here, that means "to do something that is impossible/pointless" or " you will never get the outcome you are fighting for" or something like that
😁🙌🏻
Do you have a review for the BizarreBQ lined up?
“Cosas veredas Sancho que farán fablar las piedras”
I admire you Daniel 😍😂 But seriously, what translation of Don Quijote did you read? The one I have is so jampacked with end notes that I spend most of my time reading those rather than the text.
The translation by Edith Grossman
Like when Bugs bunny gets booted out of the bull ring, flying through the air he says, "You realize this means War!"
555👍
I the picture beside you the Magi?
I should have listened longer...
Do some destilleries in the USA sell the barrels they dont need anymore?
No one really has barrels "they don't need". But they often sell barrels they don't have marked for specific things to sourced brands or independent bottlers.
@@WhiskeyVault are they used barrels? Whiskey has been made in them and now they don't use it anymore?
Ahhhh, you mean empty barrels. Gotcha. Yeah, In the US, they're typically sold to other countries for their own spirits aging. And if they're too old, they're sold to stores to convert into craft or planters, etc.
What you do Dsniel? You get rid of Rex?
Very rough explanation -
It was mentioned in a video, i forget when and where, but there are separate legal entities on the same property.
Wizard Academy, Fang and Feather, whiskey vault etc.
As things are growing, different laws are now more applicable than before. So some space between things and people is necessary?
They're having to avoid reviewing certain brands they may be friends with, etc kind of thing.
This was a disappointing ardbeg release for the price (175€ here.) The story on this episode is incredible though
