  • So as it turns out, this car needs a bit more than expected. I gave the buyer the option to back out and he did. I would have done the same to be honest.
Come with me as we discover the mess that was missed in the field!
    Inquiries can go to info@deanofmachines.com

I am considering selling the parts from this car. but would prefer to sell it whole to someone who needs all the parts for a turbo swap.
    Thanks!

Wonder if you could drop the engine/gearbox into an Amazon 🤔

  • @timjohansson628

There are new floor pans to buy. A couple of evenings with the weld and the angle grinder and they're done. You save it from the forest, now you have to make sure to save it from the scrapyard too. Come on, it's going to be fun 😁

  • @Ihavetoomanyvolvos

Some 17 year old in Sweden would’ve turned this car into a drift missile

  • @pellepp9628

In sweden someone would have fixed this car.

  • @newblackdog7827

Pah! That’s minor surface rust here in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿! 🤣

  • @marcinbujok7388

Hey Dean! Thanks for the video. Hope someone will save it or use for parts. It's still in better shape than most 740 in Europe😂

  • @T0mThompson

The Water from the inside could not escape and slowly eats through the floor. At least the frame is solid. With some new floor metal the car is still a good one. But I can image how disappointed you are.

  • @Danthecapriman

    That sucks!

  • @arieplomp8906

Bummer Dean ! Hopefully some one else can fix it ! Or use it as a parts car! 👍🏻👍🏻🆙 like always!

  • @aircnc9385

And the wheels, I like the mesh.

  • @davidblood9882

I appreciate your honesty and character here. Too many others would try to pass the car off as normal than tell the disgruntled buyer tough 💩! Sorry Dean.

  • @adamv242

That's a damn shame. Lots of clean body panels and a turbo powertrain I'm sure will live on though.

  • @dheitz5830

If you did a RHD swap then you'd have drivers floors again.

  • @mds2465

Well that does suck! Usually these cars are exceptionally rust resistant but in the 80s that was a big problem for these cars.

  • @rodneyss19

A couple road signs, license plates and a box of self tappers and it'd be gooder than new! 😂 Such a shame it's rotten underneath... it looks so good on the outside. 😢

  • @mayflowerlash11

Ah come on Dean. Weld a few bits of fresh steel, it will be as good as new, even better. It's only the floor and those turbo 740's were loved. Don't give up on the old girl yet.

  • @ianwheeler7903

Hi Dean. Fred Flintstone would be proud of that 740.

  • @kilgree

As someone with a plasma cutter and a welder, I would blast it out of a donor car and paste it back in. Turbo wagons are hard to find these days. Most of these bricks are a labor of love.

A Volvo car... you can say that until 2005, these cars have terrible waterproofing problems, even in the 940, rain would get into the trunk. Part of the vehicle's base is also 100% iron. Without a mixture of metals like today. That's why rust is everywhere.

  • @john242ti

Looks like how my 245Ti was. That makes me think that the rack has been leaking for some time. Since the frame rails are decent, and the rest of the floor's good, I bet it's been rusting from the inside out. Remember Ken's (RIP) term for roof racks... "Rust From Above".
