My Theory for Janemba's health bar decreasing comes from the fact that in the movie, he begins to transform only after taking massive damaged from SSJ3 Goku.

Yeah, in the movie, SS3 Goku slams giant Janemba with a psuedo-dragon fist punch and that pose he makes resembles Janemba thrashing in pain before he takes his final form.😊

Plus his whole theme: he's inspired on Jiang-Shi A.K.A. "chinese vampires", that's why he looks so strange, why he floats around, why he has telekinetic powers and, very importantly, why he sucks at math.
Going from "kinda undead" to "dead", the devs clearly thought he fit this stage the best.

My theory for the characters looking worried and janemba smiling is that the characters think you died, and janemba who's literally made of negative energy from hell actually likes the idea

The reason Janemba looses health when transforming is because giant characters tend to have more health than average-sized ones, and Janemba is the only character to transform from a giant into an average sized fighter.

For Janemba's face when he looks at the camera after 10 inactive minutes, and other weird ones, it's probably that each character has a face marked as "scared" in its code, which it uses during certain situations (like enemy cinematic moves, I guess). Broly would never really look outright terrified, so his ".scared" is a slightly worried look, and Janemba is such a monster he grins when he should be scared by all accounts.

Crazy enough, Super Dragon Ball Z has gotten a lot of attention recently in the Fighting Game Community, with it being featured as a side event at EVO 2022, the biggest fighting game tournament of the year, as well as many content creators talking about it
SDBZ is so underrated. It would be nice to see it get ported to the ps plus

It was a very great game that was limited by the uncharacteristically small roster. Most Dragon Ball games from that era and onwards were known for having GIANT rosters. But Super Dragon Ball Z had a such a small one. That the replay value wasn't really there for most casual players. Myself included tbh lol. If I remember correctly. The reason for the roster being so small. Is because the game was just a really good Arcade port.
@@SuperVada Honestly the game is not underrated. Everyone that has played the game thinks it is amazing. The problem is that the roster was too small for a Dragon Ball game.
@@mee091000 Not to mention that it felt like they were trying harder to make a properly balanced fighting game, which the other DBZ games are not. Having so massive a roster would've made achieving that a lot more difficult.

No, I'm not making a theory or slapping that on the character as a title. He is legit gay. Another fun fact:
In games where Cell uses the Spirit Bomb/Genki-Dama, sometimes he does the signature two-handed version. However, at the time of Cell's creation, Goku had only used this version on Namek. On Earth, Goku used the one-handed version against Vegeta.
Edit: A lot of good points made by people in the replies, but I just realized something weird: The two handed version Cell and Goku use in the games wasn't even used by Goku himself until Kid Buu. I think against Frieza, he held the Spirit Bomb high above his head. (Cell could just do that instead as a counterargument to the people saying that it's just because it's big, like there aren't many different ways to hold big ki spheres)
In the anime, wasn't it also said that Dr. Gero had a robot take DNA from Goku and Frieza while they were on Namek as well?

@@kazamaskeyblade7311 No, I believe Gero says that by his calculations any improvement Goku might have made on Namek would be minimal at best and thus saw no reason to send a drone to spy on him there and if I recall its said that Cell has both Frieza and King Cold's cells within him meaning he would have obtained them at the time when the 2 came to earth.

Cell said the computer took dna from frieza while he was on earth, and also stated that dna from trunks would have been good too but the computer decided that they had already enough saiyan dna
@@kazamaskeyblade7311 No. Dr. Gero was shocked when he saw Vegeta turn into a Super Saiyan, for one.
The last resort attacks really suck in BT3 because they're very easy to avoid, the wake up time is slow, you drop to the ground (not at least standing) and bounce which leaves you open if your enemy is in front of you. They're just worse Super Explosive waves.
They should hit the opponent when used, even breaking through defense and explosive waves etc, it'd make the attack a lil too good but better than being trash as it is now.
The only good last resort attack is tien's tri beam attack. First, his attack is hard to dodge and it can do massive damage if you have high hp, which makes the attack super useful, second, tien isnt a strong fighter in game, he seems to be more like a support character, meaning that you're probably meant to use ten shin han to fight a little, spam his last resort attack to a strong enemy, then die or switch out. Tien is good for this because its not like you're sacrificing a strong fighter like vegeta or cell.
It actually makes sense. Self-destruction attacks NEVER worked as intended in the anime lol.

The super explosive waves are at least a fun counter to Ultimate attacks
My headcannon is that Cell's Spirit Bomb is a spiritual (pun intended) successor to his life drain technique.
Unlike Goku who has to have people voluntarily give him energy, Cell forcefully saps the life energy from people and molds it into a Spirit Bomb-like attack.
If he could drain people's life energy, from a distance, that would actually make him pretty terrifying. He could just forcefully drain everyone there.
i like that, i also have a bit of headcannon, since cell is made of multiple life-forms hes connected to the life-energy around him and could draw from it naturally, bypassing the evil intent. nature is vicious but that doesnt make it evil so i kind of see a similar concept
In Budokai 3 he says something along the lines of "alright planet give me that stupid energy" when he does the spirit bomb
Not to mention the alternative that cell could possibly have been forcing people to give him energy with different means. Like a spirit bomb made out of fear, people fear cell so if this dude screamed into your mind to raise your hand and think about giving you'd do it...or maybe cell has fans.
An alternative is draining sure, but its technique is too niche to be compared to how a spirit bomb works. He has a biological appendage to drain life essence not KI.

If I had to guess, the characters look worried in Budokai 3 because they're breaking the fourth wall and worried they're just going to be standing there forever(or beaten up) but it's basically just to tell you to pick up the controller.

If I ever came across that Easter egg if I had the game it would’ve freaked me out as a kid upon noticing it. Then again kid me probably wouldn’t notice it easily because I wouldn’t be focused on their faces like that.
I think Chiaotzu’s there because he was designed after a Jiangshi, or a Chinese Vampire. The entire Otherworld is quite inspired by East Asian depictions of the underworld, especially King Yemma, who’s original name was Enma Daio (I believe).

That thing in Buu's Gohan form is not Gohan skin, is the gi turned appart. The pieces we can see that resembles to skin are simply the inside part of the gi, hanging because its broken.

The reason for human skin is because either the devs were lazy and did not changed the skin color or either they straight up used the hi model from someone else.

janemba's health decreases because in tenkaichi 3, most characters have 3 bars of health, weaker/smaller ones like saibamen, kid gohan (if i recall correctly), cell jrs...etc. to name a few have 2, and giants have 4. this is also true for janemba, his giant form has 4 bars of HP, while his super form has 3, transforming reduces your health based on that 4:3 ratio

YES im so glad you brought up the XV2 voiceline! iirc he does it in the original xenoverse as well. honestly cell has a bunch of super interesting lines worth examining from the XV games. calling frieza's race "frost demons" is a really interesting one (specifically, in some missions if you use a frieza race character, he has a special line referring to you as a "frost demon"). of course, it's only cell that uses the name for them, and the game still just calls them "frieza race" lmao. but i'm pretty sure it's just because the frost demon line is a reference to the dragon ball multiverse comic; it's the name they use too! probably just a fun nod from the translation team
Cell in Xenoverse has just as much charisma, personality, and chemistry with the cast as we all knew he would had he stuck around.
I think the whole Buuhan Skin thing was possibly an oversight of the devs re-using gohan’s Gi Texture and forgetting about the battle damage version

Seeing my comment from last video was an immense honor so here's two more fun facts. The first one is if you select the pod landing stage in Xenoverse 2 you can see the farmers truck that Raditz destroyed in the background. The second one is in the legacy of goku 2 you can acquire a scouter early in the game which tells you information on who you decide to scan most are informative but the one for Maron says that the scouter doesn't detect any brain waves implying that the scouter might be malfunctioning or is it?

For some reason, it's much lighter than the rest of the gi, so I can see how it can be mistaken for human skin, but it wouldn't make sense for the blue part to be where it is if it was bare skin. Not to mention, there's a shadow under it, because it's sticking out.

I'm actually glad that Super Dragon Ball Z and gets the spotlight for this video is a very underrated game in my opinion and it's what got me into fighting game in the first place

Super Dragon Ball Z was wonderful. My brother and I played so much just to get our Battle power up as high as possible. It would actually be cool to see that form of Freeza in other games. It does look really cool despite being really odd.

The reason why Tien can perform his last resort over and over is because its a reference to Tien trying to avoid Android 18 being absorbed by cell.
Edit 1 : The reason Janemba loses health is because when Goku destroyed Fat Janemba he transformed into Super Janemba the reason is probably because he destroys himself to transform

A while back you said about how cell (perfect) can use his tail to drain characters hp, and how his tail retracted. Well in GT when goku goes into hell during the super 17 arc, goku gets blinded and cell (perfect) uses his tail to try to absorb goku like 17 and 18. It did actually happen
Interesting similarities between Mecha-Frieza in super dragon ball and Vile from Megaman X, both have a huge rocket launcher on the shoulder and Vile has knee bombs like Frieza has Tail bombs.

Super DBZ is great. I especially liked you could get Gohan's sword from when he was a kid, and the fact that Chi-Chi has an entire arsenal of stuff from the series. That game was so neat.
I believe the self-destruct techniques, like Cell's and Vegeta's, are meant to be used, as expected, as a Last Resort, to damage/kill the opponent while not "wasting" the character as well, but, in a one-on-one match, that would result in a draw if the opponent was killed, so, in order for that not to happen, the character stays at 1hp.
I just wish more HP would result in more damage
While in the Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump crossover episode they changed it to be General Blue to be thinking of a young male character (I haven't read Dr. Slump) as his brother. In the original Japanese he was shown as a Shotacon (like young boys).

Cell actually used the genki dama/spirit bomb was in the first Budokai Game before xenoverse. In Budokai 2 with the what if fusions and absorbtion, Super Buu Cell can also use it.

8:44 I think it's just the cloth piece that's ripped is folded outwards and dangling. The inner material of the GI is a brighter color. You also can tell its cloth since there's no muscle on it or anything just crease lines.

in legendary super warriors, the first use of Final Explosion (Called Desp. Atk) sends you to 3 hp, and a second use to 1 HP, i recall that bit.
Not something you could do in most situations, but still a nice detail, i remember that.
And i agree, i dont feel they do enough damage to be worth it.
Budokai 3 (IIRC) final explosions is much better on that front, its an all or nothing gamble, the winner of the ultimate struggle, wins the fight.
the healthbar thing is because when someone transforms their maximum health changes, and in janembas case, big janemba has a bigger healthbar than the transformation does, and current health will change to match the exact percent your hp should be in the other form
Super DBZ was the only DBZ fighting game I could beat my brother in. Loved seeing it in the video

In the Dbz saga, it was stated By King kai that only people who is pure of heart could will the Genkidama properly without getting backfire by his own attack. Cell could replicate the same principle yes but, creating the exact same Genkidama absolutely not because he possess malicious intentions on him which would end up into him getting hurt by his own attack after creating it.

If you mod the game to make fusion timers infinite, will they (I mainly wonder about Gogeta 4) also look at the camera? Considering you can't normally have them last that long.
I don't have a pc or laptop to test this out, only have the ps2 copy of IW and the ps3 HD collection so I can't check modded stuff, would anyone be willing to check for me if possible?
I've checked it thanks to the Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 Deluxe Edition mod and yes , Gogeta 4 is looking at the camera👍.
