It adds so much to the DB and character lore.
As I recall the fight vs Arale in the What If? mode was the single hardest fight in the game. I remember spending nearly an hour passing the controller back and forth with my best mate trying to beat it.
The amount of attention to detail this game has in even the smallest stuff is so cool...if a bit frustrating at times, lol. I remember I loved playing Meta Cooler as a kid but I hated that he couldn't charge Ki.
For the teleporting dodge thingy, I would imagine it's enabled if the character is considered by their relative power scaling and place in the story to have been exceptionally fast... Or it might also just be the game's interpretation of the Afterimage technique for some.
My best guess as to why Goku (Mid) has Meteor Combination is because they already made Goku (Early)'s moveset, but still wanted to include the move, so they put it on the next chronologically closest Goku.
Fun fact I noticed: in Budokai games Piccolos nails are completely purple, but in Tenkaichi games they only have a purple outline. Likewise in the mangas color version, Piccolos nails are completely purple, whereas in the anime they are white.
So i think when you do Chi-Chi's commentary on Teen Gohan Chi-Chi says "If you enter that something-or-other-room you suddenly grow" which confused me at first, but then realized it was a reference to Gohan going in the Time Chamber. Hope this was helpful!
The reason for Ki charging slow underwater is because Ki requires breathing (and this is demonstrated in what ki is based on, the philosophy behing Aikido and QiGong), but Saibamen being plants, effectively breathe water. Also, GT Goku does not say "Taiyoken" for solar flare, it's a dubbing error. He in fact says "Kaioken". As for Roshi, in japanese he is usually referred to as "Kame Sennin" which translates to "Turtle Hermit". Generally, only his students refer to him as "Muten Roshi". Anyway, thanks for the upload KaDazee, and happy new year!
Taiyoken would make more sense honestly, since it us as mentioned the original name, Taiyo being Sun after all So thats extra weird that its Kaioken, he doesn't even get a pink aura surge

There is a small detail you haven't mentioned about super attacks that you can charge, you can actually aim them. It's been a while since I played the Tenkaichi games but I still remember being able use one of the analog sticks to fire the beam off target, with how far you hold changing the angle which allows you to when playing with friends mess with them if you know how they normally try to dodge a beam.
This fucked me over so many times when anticipating a beam struggle. I would start spinning the stick to early and instead of a clash my beam would go off to the side and I would be hit by my opponents beam attack.
@@elisiemens9058 It's weird little details like that which push me to liking BT2 more than BT3, of course the biggest reason I lean toward BT2 is that I like it's story mode more.

This is explained in the in-game tutorial/application of BT2 so I wouldn’t necessarily regard it as a “secret.” It is an important detail though and I would hope everyone goes through the tutorial at least once. There are a LOT of details like that you won’t discover otherwise (like how holding down R2 while energy beam clashing will help).
1:04:40 If we consider Instant Transmission a factor that satisfies the requirement for the super fast movement, then one thing I can think of that could also behave in a similar way would be the connection of some of these characters to the otherworld, like Dabura being the king of demons. If he resides in the demon realm but can walk the regular mortal realm, he would probably need to be able to just pop in and out of these realms in fashion similar to Instant Transmission. I don't remember enough about some of the other characters from original Dragon Ball or movie characters like Tapion, but considering that these characters also have some sort of link or relation to demons, the idea could be that they also possess some sort of realm hopping ability. Which honestly is a pretty massive stretch as far as their abilities go, I wouldn't consider the ability to move from one realm to another to function similar to Instant Transmission but more like flipping between those realms. Overall, I think it's already a bit questionable if Instant Transmission would be usable for this sort of rapid movement, we have seen it being used for simple relocation moves sometimes even in close proximity to the target, but Goku (as well as probably Cell?) requires a bit of time to find the target he wants to teleport to, so it probably wouldn't be as practical as "dodging" as Instant Transmission would then be a deliberate act and not a reflex or highly trained reaction. Alternatively, there could have been some overarching idea for the super speed movement but it kinda got lost when multiple people were handling different characters when they were making the game, so mistakes were made. Someone could have looked at the available moves in the game and add it to a character just to make it more varied, forgetting there was some sort of point to the super speed, or the level of assumed power could have been forgotten or misunderstood. Like someone saw that Mecha Cooler had it while his regular character did not have it, so it was given to Frieza as well without knowing or realizing why exactly Mecha Cooler even had the ability.
About 27:43, maybe the "evil" detected in Kid Gohan stems from his anger? He HAS lashed out against both Raditz and Frieza before -- and while both are for good reasons (his father being tortured by Raditz, wanting to save Krillin after Frieza's fatal attack), the Devilmite beam may still acknowledge that he tried to hurt others out of his anger. Which is strange, since in the Saiyan Saga he could stay on Nimbus after Nappa tried to stomp on him?? The hole only goes deeper 😅
Actually it's because the devilmite beam doesn't sense evil, if i recall--- it senses Negative Thoughts, if I recall the phrasing? The Nimbus senses goodness/evilness, but negative thoughts tend to overlap with that. Not always though. Gohan has negative thoughts (due to his rage), but isn't evil--- hence nimbus still giving him rides, and the devilmite beam not dealing that much damage.
6:34 Charging up ki slower underwater could be a reference to the Haze Shenron battle in which Goku couldn't use his Ki properly because in the fight he said he draws in energy from the air he breathes, and the polluted air was insufficient.
Another cool fun fact on Capt Ginyu, while playing him in the cell tournament, you regain a lot more health between battles (you only regain one bar of health in between rounds normally) if you change into a different character using his ult as the game sees you ending with that much health
This is also true for frieza cell and anyone (bar nappa) that can turn giant Tho dont bother with cell he takes a whole ass 6 blast stock to go from imperfect to super perfect and thats higher than fusing into ssj3 gotenks super vegito super gogeta or super gogeta 4 Nappa cant heal because he already has 50k hp and turning giant only heals for 120% of the difference between your hp and your new max hp at high health and drops all the way down to 1% at low hp...
Damn these games really were labors of love, huh? I mean I have to give the developers credit, they really went all in for being accurate to the source as much as plausible, which definitely gave these games more personality of "You're actually playing the manga/anime"
They likely gave Meteor Combination to Mid Goku because Early Goku already had Kaioken and characters only get 3 slots. It also could represent how mid Goku was a lot stronger in base at the time, if you use it on the Ginyus or Freeza in the story.
28:55 I could be wrong, but I think the joke is that it should canonically be something pervy/dirty on the screen since it's Master Roshi's television. But since that wouldn't be allowed because of ESRB rules, we just get a troll face easter egg instead. It's really impressive to have a game that thinks of virtually everything like that!
I don't know if it's much of a secret but I recently discovered that if u use Ssj2 Kid/Pre-Teen Gohan against Perfect Cell and finish Cell off with the Father-Son Kamehameha, Gohan face expression will change to look more intense after delivering the finishing blow. This is in Tenkaichi 2 and 3.
And that's some of the reasons why the Budokai Tenkaichi series is the best Dragon Ball video game adaptation for such an attention to details that is super well shown in this video. It's easy to see the people who made the game were huge Dragon Ball fans.
@kadazee i really love your content and its makes MY BLOOD BOIL to see your videos gets so many views and soo little subs i am here for you since day one and i am going to support you for as long as your doing your fantastic videos 😁😁
GT Goku having dub voice inconsistencies isn't technically a dubbing error. In Japan, Kid Goku has the same voice as adult goku, so the game only has one slot for voice files for that character, so they have to pick and choose whether the character will use Sean Schemmel or Stephanie Nadolny's voicelines for the entire character. This applies to Cell as well
Hey KaDazee, Rewatching this all, I wanted to kinda confirm that Broly's power suppressor (them crown on his forehead in the first Broly Movie) is the reason why his hair is Blue in his Super Saiyan form, as it's a suppressed version of it. When it's broken and he's shown in his ALT Outfit (based on Second Coming), he has his full powered Super Saiyan form.
I dont know if its mentioned, but i remember in BT2 some if not all blasts like kamehame that would charge up (without a cutscene) could be turned left or right before shooting like aiming, but in BT3 all blasts were locked on the target you were not free to aim anymore 😅
as someone who has never watched dragonball z and knows practically nothing about the series, seeing this in my recommended was like "i dont see why not". GREAT VIDEO! and very interesting :)
Hmm, perhaps. If there’s something I’ve learned about video games these days, it’s that the passion, secrets, Easter eggs and details always diminish over time as the gaming industry has shifted more toward corporate greed than a positive player experience. Why do any of these things if they cost more time and resources…? Sounds pessimistic but I’ve been burned way too much the past 10 years to get overly hyped anymore.
@@KevinOnEarth_ yeah, look at Fallout or The sims games, once filled with details and fun little interactions have dumbed down the mechanics to save up money.
I can only assume that Vegeta is actually just in constant pain with how many times his arms get messed up in the series. He’s gotta have something, I mean he even just holds it when he’s tired out at this point
Ever wondered why King Vegeta's ultimate is called "Orga Blaster"? First, we should establish that the purple beam he fires at the end of it is his version of a Galick Gun. This is confirmed by his Great Ape form having that beam as an attack, where it is called "Galick Gun". Inventors of certain techniques have "original" at the beginning of their attacks in the game, such as Master Roshi using the Original Kamehameha or Tao Bai Bai using the Original Dodon Ray. Orga-Blaster is short for ORiginal GAlick Blaster.
Aside from some ultimates and chocolate beams, saiyan saga vegeta's rush can disintegrate the enemy too (probably a reference to vegeta killing zarbon on namek). Awesome content by the way!
Explaining the Rapid Movement thing. I know for a fact Tambourine has it because when he fought Krillin he was introduced as a speedy character that eclipsed Krillin in speed. Even having similar movement to that in the game when Krillin when to punch him. Ironically later when he fought Goku he was defeated because Goku was faster than him. Mecha Frieza is easy to explain. I’m the anime there’s a scene during his creations where one of the scientists says “We have the technology to make him faster, stronger, and in every way more powerful then he was before.” Pikkon also uses “Burter Logic” in the filler episodes where he fought Goku he was talked about being fast. Goku even comments “I know you’re fast enough to dodge those hits.” Tapion while not on par with SSJ3 was definitely in a movie where SSJ3 was constantly shown. I think they just made Tapion on par with SSJ3 because of this in the game. Also Tapion doesn’t do a whole lot so they had to give him something. Daburah being this speedy is a reference to the scene where Gohan punched his after image and Daburah sent Gohan flying into a lake. Daburah already doesn’t have much character so I can see why they gave this ability to him so he could be a bit more distinct. Spike The Devilman isn’t explain through outside the games. He’s depicted as slow in his fight against Goku but after some digging in the game itself no less. He’s depicted defeating Mecha Freiza in his own story mode.
Early Vegeta and Early Piccolo have super attacks that disintegrate. Vegeta does the rush then gut punches to a ki blast through the opponent. What he did to Zarbon I believe. Early Piccolo grabs the opponent and throws them and blasts them with a mouth beam. What he did to the Saibaman and a few times in the movies, maybe Lord Slug?
I don't know if you covered this already or not, but in Tenkaichi Tag Team, I found the 100% Frieza can use destructo disc when you use jump + ki blast
There is a weird glitch in Tenkaichi 1 related to voices. If you set the voices to Japanese, and then reset the game, if you go to the options the game technically is in japanese, but in gameplay, Intros, Victory Quotes, Menus, Story Mode Dialogue, Rush Attack (but only at the end of them) and Ultimates are still in English. Normal grunts, the start of rush attacks and the story mode narrator are in Japanese.
@@bonkdicootrevised6774 But when you change the voice languague normally for the first time, it works properly, it's only after you reset the game and load that it behaves weirdly.
lets be real tenkaichi 4 will never have so much love and details, let alone the amount of characters and content at launch. prepare for like 15 season passes
Haha yup. Gaming industry is more concerned about profits than player experience. “Why do any of these ‘unnecessary details’ if they require more time and resources?” - random dev, probably
youre drunk. i love bt3 but higher fidelity means more work fam. i think its reasonable to assume that 1 ‘hd’ character is at least 3 bt3 characters in terms of work/time investment
@@ultimatessjgokuI don’t buy those excuses. It seems you forget the limitations of the time BT3 was made, it is good reason to assume it is as just as hard for them to make games on ps2 then as it is to make modern games now, if not much harder. I’m sure making a ps2 game NOW would be child’s play for them, but that’s only with stream lined technology and know how now. It’s like older animations being waaaay more costly and time consuming to make and then today’s animations. I mean devs don’t even bother optimizing their games now !
@@ultimatessjgoku You're drunk AND high, you think these were not the limitations at the time of BT3's release? If this copium was energy, it could power the Spirit Bomb by itself
I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss their work. We've already seen 1 armed future gohan, master roshi can't float, plus we already know there's over 160 characters in the base game... I wouldn't be surprised to learn there's a lot of love put into the game.
For the rapid movement characters, it is relatively simple wheb you ignore their tier of power and more their in story lore. Mecha Freeza is basically a Freeza at 100% without being burdened by his bulky stamina drain. So his sleeker frame along with his heightened power, along with how fast he was at the time, would allow rapid movement. Spike the Devilman's entire gimmick is magic, his Devilmite Beam is a magic based attack that magnifies and expands evil to destroy his enemies from within. Its not a stretch to say that he is using magic to warp around. Tapion is in a similar boat, being a Magic Knight. So his teleporting is magic in nature. Paikuhan's speed is due to being relative to early Buu Saga Goku, based on the Otherworld Tournament. So he may not have Instanr Transmission, but he does keep up with that tier. Tambourine is the exception among this group, as his inclusion ia purely based on the tone shift he brought to Dragonball. His sudden murder of Krillin gave a sort of tone whiplash from the generally optimistic tone of Dragonball by, in a way, *breaking the rules*.
6:42 It was once or twice in the namakian saga as they tried hiding in water & hiding their ki and were struggling as they had to focus on both ki suppression & holding their breath
I hope the bt4 devs see this, im pretty sure most of us notice some lore accurate details but didn't fully realized till other games wasn't as detail driven like the bt games
So, let's say Ginyu changes bodies with Goku while you're playing with Devil Man, does his special attack works on him?? If it does, that would be fricking insane detail atention!

For Tenkaichi Tag Team's hidden fusion timer, I always assume it was in place just for the sake of the game being able to be played co-op. Still rare to happen, but I would assume in a versus match with 5 senzu beans for each team, those 5 minutes could pass.
I used to love this game as a kid man. Even just the simplicity of making characters from different periods. I used to love making what if scenarios with Vegeta (End) vs Goku (Mid) or some crazy stuff lol, hopefully Sparking Zero delivers us a similar experience, this game is definitely a masterpiece.
Kadazee I have a question which buttons should be pressed to grab an opponent on the ground and throw him at 1:05:30 in the gameplay of Goku vs Vegeta you perform this action but Vegeta is picking up too quickly so you couldn't lift him and throw him, which button must be pressed to perform this action

It’s crazy how in a game where 95% of characters can fly, the flightless 5% have the advantage.
A FULL MOVIE ABOUT THESE DETAILS IS THE PERFECT NEW YEARS GIFT. Thanks Shenron!
The amount of attention to detail this game has in even the smallest stuff is so cool...if a bit frustrating at times, lol. I remember I loved playing Meta Cooler as a kid but I hated that he couldn't charge Ki.
6:22 the real definition of "if I hit myself and it hurts, am I strong or am I weak"
The unseen oozarus all having slight character model differences is actually pretty awesome.
Fun fact I noticed: in Budokai games Piccolos nails are completely purple, but in Tenkaichi games they only have a purple outline. Likewise in the mangas color version, Piccolos nails are completely purple, whereas in the anime they are white.
Manga vs. Anime supremacists.
So i think when you do Chi-Chi's commentary on Teen Gohan Chi-Chi says "If you enter that something-or-other-room you suddenly grow" which confused me at first, but then realized it was a reference to Gohan going in the Time Chamber. Hope this was helpful!
Love these videos and the voice explaining makes the video more enthusiastic. Thank you for taking out your time and effort for our entertainment
For the Kaio-ken thing, I knew about that, I knew that GT wasn't saying Taiyoken, but I wanted to make sure that I wasn't stealing anyone's comment.
Plants don’t breathe water, RoachDoggJr.
and muten roshi isn't a name either. It means ultimate martial arts master or something similar
Roachdogg Jr!!
Taiyoken would make more sense honestly, since it us as mentioned the original name, Taiyo being Sun after all
So thats extra weird that its Kaioken, he doesn't even get a pink aura surge

There is a small detail you haven't mentioned about super attacks that you can charge, you can actually aim them. It's been a while since I played the Tenkaichi games but I still remember being able use one of the analog sticks to fire the beam off target, with how far you hold changing the angle which allows you to when playing with friends mess with them if you know how they normally try to dodge a beam.
This fucked me over so many times when anticipating a beam struggle. I would start spinning the stick to early and instead of a clash my beam would go off to the side and I would be hit by my opponents beam attack.
You can't aim in bt3, but you can in bt2
@@elisiemens9058 It's weird little details like that which push me to liking BT2 more than BT3, of course the biggest reason I lean toward BT2 is that I like it's story mode more.
customization is also not well thought out in 3. i get is a little lame just pumping your stats up in 2 but 3 made it wwwaaaayyyyy too limiting to create cool stuff. otherwise i agree with you. i like 2 more as well. 3 still fun tho@@GrandCaptainSpeedyDashGames
This is explained in the in-game tutorial/application of BT2 so I wouldn’t necessarily regard it as a “secret.”
It is an important detail though and I would hope everyone goes through the tutorial at least once. There are a LOT of details like that you won’t discover otherwise (like how holding down R2 while energy beam clashing will help).

If we consider Instant Transmission a factor that satisfies the requirement for the super fast movement, then one thing I can think of that could also behave in a similar way would be the connection of some of these characters to the otherworld, like Dabura being the king of demons.
He can bounce back the spirit bomb, there’s no evil. It’s probably a minor glitch
Who’s here after hearing about Toriyama💔
Rest in power, the father of shonen anime and creator of everyone’s childhood.
This is also true for frieza cell and anyone (bar nappa) that can turn giant
Tho dont bother with cell he takes a whole ass 6 blast stock to go from imperfect to super perfect and thats higher than fusing into ssj3 gotenks super vegito super gogeta or super gogeta 4
Nappa cant heal because he already has 50k hp and turning giant only heals for 120% of the difference between your hp and your new max hp at high health and drops all the way down to 1% at low hp...
Damn these games really were labors of love, huh? I mean I have to give the developers credit, they really went all in for being accurate to the source as much as plausible, which definitely gave these games more personality of "You're actually playing the manga/anime"
We've been blessed for the new year with a full hour!
Keep up the great content, Kadazee!
The amount of attention to detail is really impressive
25:56 Giving him those monkey backshots
They likely gave Meteor Combination to Mid Goku because Early Goku already had Kaioken and characters only get 3 slots. It also could represent how mid Goku was a lot stronger in base at the time, if you use it on the Ginyus or Freeza in the story.
28:55 I could be wrong, but I think the joke is that it should canonically be something pervy/dirty on the screen since it's Master Roshi's television. But since that wouldn't be allowed because of ESRB rules, we just get a troll face easter egg instead.
It's really impressive to have a game that thinks of virtually everything like that!
Goku uses the destructo disc in tree of might as well and its mid jump as he is racing down to catch gohan as he is falling out of Oozaru form.
Crazy how it's still so fascinating to return to this game from our childhoods and see what we missed. Great stuff!
Excellent video!! Tenk 3 is one of my favourite DBZ games and you’ve made me appreciate that series all the more!
I used to think that for Kamehameha x10, you empowered the Kaioken Technique into the Kamehameha, hence why it had a red colour.
way better idea
0:48 Sounds like Zarbon is getting a different kind of pounding
GT Goku having dub voice inconsistencies isn't technically a dubbing error. In Japan, Kid Goku has the same voice as adult goku, so the game only has one slot for voice files for that character, so they have to pick and choose whether the character will use Sean Schemmel or Stephanie Nadolny's voicelines for the entire character. This applies to Cell as well
There's plenty of spots in the data for more voice lines, they just chose the cheap copy paste route
No @@miregoji2959
Love the content man! Don't stop doing what ya do. Happy new year, can't wait to see your breakdown on the new game when it comes out.
That's awesome to hear. Glad you enjoyed!
Every time I see one of these videos I get even More Hyped For Sparking Zero!
Gohan's "evil" was likely a reference to his rage that skyrockets his power
I can only assume that Vegeta is actually just in constant pain with how many times his arms get messed up in the series. He’s gotta have something, I mean he even just holds it when he’s tired out at this point
When General Blue called kid trunks cute you should have added the **THUM THUM** From Law and Order.

Piccolo’s rush does too which he killed a Saibaman with
Explaining the Rapid Movement thing.
I’m the anime there’s a scene during his creations where one of the scientists says “We have the technology to make him faster, stronger, and in every way more powerful then he was before.”
Pikkon also uses “Burter Logic” in the filler episodes where he fought Goku he was talked about being fast. Goku even comments “I know you’re fast enough to dodge those hits.”
Tapion while not on par with SSJ3 was definitely in a movie where SSJ3 was constantly shown.
The amount of work that must have went into this is insane. Great work!
I don't know if you covered this already or not, but in Tenkaichi Tag Team, I found the 100% Frieza can use destructo disc when you use jump + ki blast
makes sence because frieza 100% sliced himself in half with the death saucer
There is a weird glitch in Tenkaichi 1 related to voices. If you set the voices to Japanese, and then reset the game, if you go to the options the game technically is in japanese, but in gameplay, Intros, Victory Quotes, Menus, Story Mode Dialogue, Rush Attack (but only at the end of them) and Ultimates are still in English.
Normal grunts, the start of rush attacks and the story mode narrator are in Japanese.
It's not a glitch, it's a feature which it only applies to the voices
@@bonkdicootrevised6774 But when you change the voice languague normally for the first time, it works properly, it's only after you reset the game and load that it behaves weirdly.
lets be real tenkaichi 4 will never have so much love and details, let alone the amount of characters and content at launch. prepare for like 15 season passes
Haha yup.
Gaming industry is more concerned about profits than player experience.
“Why do any of these ‘unnecessary details’ if they require more time and resources?”

youre drunk. i love bt3 but higher fidelity means more work fam. i think its reasonable to assume that 1 ‘hd’ character is at least 3 bt3 characters in terms of work/time investment
Water messing with ki control is probably a nod towards ki's real world inspiration where breathing exercises are common place in meditation
So, let's say Ginyu changes bodies with Goku while you're playing with Devil Man, does his special attack works on him?? If it does, that would be fricking insane detail atention!
