Biggest thing for me the more I look at boats especially bass boats, you need a big truck to pull it at least a half ton in most cases, lots of money for gas for both the truck & boat, a lot more maintenance to have to worry about, it's easy to transport a kayak & get to more spots easier than with a boat a lot of the time, & you don't have to take out a big loan for a kayak.

I agree!! I sold both my boats and have no regrets, I started kayak fishing in 2020. As far as fishing goes, the best decision I've made ..

The only thing a boat really has the advantage on is getting places faster IMO. That’s it. Not really a deal breaker for me. Maybe one day again I’ll get a another boat…but I doubt it. Thanks for watching!

I like yack fishing because of the versatility. I keep my yack on top of my suburban and I always have the option of hitting the lakes or rivers on the way home from work.

I sold my Bass boat few years ago and focus on Kayak fishing. I agree everything u said. But I think the down side for a kayak are the preparation time (e.g setup the fish finders, trolling motor, powerpole, tackle box…)for launching and packing up when u finish are way more time than a boat, and I can’t go too far from where I started. I remember one time I went out for 10km far and I end up spending 2 hours straight to get back to the shore with the XI3 which is a nightmare. Time is a big issue for fishing. I rather spend time for fishing than cruising back to the shore. This year I switch back into a small boat instead. Hopefully this is the right decision for me.

I 100% agree with you on the time spent at launch. I’m actually working on my kayak to make it more efficient at the launch. I almost there. I do trailer my kayak also. Yesterday at the launch a guy I fished with travels his in his pick up bed and he had his in the water 10 min before me and I launched and was out on the water while he was still loading stuff in his yak. A lot of places I fish I do have to travel about 20-40 minutes across the lake but the NK300 bits those times in half also. Thanks for watching!

Those are some great points. I’ve got a 23 foot Bay Boat and storage is tough…expensive to store. And, I’m not using it as often as I’d like. You make a good case for going with a Yak!

I have never owned a bass boat so I can't relate but I have friends with boats and it seems there is ALWAYS something happening to them. For me, the kayak was the cheapest and most effective way to get off the bank and out into the waters I couldn't normally fish. For $350 and another $100 or so in accessories, I have a new way to enjoy fishing.
I am still working on camera angles, but thats less a kayak issue, and more a content creator problem. I'll get it nailed down eventually.
I have a fairly unique kayak crate myself. It wouldn't survive the scrutiny of online forums, but for me, it perfectly does its job. Looking forward to seeing what you got for us.

Dude boats are nothing but a headache. The two best days of a boat owners life are the day they buy and the day they sell it. Thanks a lot for stopping and watching bro! Your gonna be slaying hogs outta that yak set up! Looking forward to watching it all go down!🤘🏼

I agree with most of that for sure. I found with bank fishing that it also forces you to realize that there are more fish in the small area. Then you think. I guess kayak fishing also limits you to a spot once you move there. plus your are absolutely right about catch and release tourneys.

    Great points, Lucas!
While bass boats are cool, they are DEFINITELY a ton of work. Winterizing live wells and lines, storage, unable to easily get the boat back to shore if something goes wrong.
The only thing I will disagree about is that kayak fishing is not always 100% stress free. I was pretty stressed when I got careless and flipped.
If the water is frigid and a storm pops up...flipping can equal death.
There are definitely stresses out there, but they are FAR LESS than bass bro stresses.
Great video, Buddy. Just nonchalantly catching fish while shooting a talking segment.

I sold my PA 14 360, bought a boat, the best decision ever made, I can hit the water, and cover so many spots, as bieng on a kayak, on a kayak I would worry, for any sudden weather changes, and if I would be able to make it back weather if I have enough battery life, for my trolling motor or simply bieng to tired to peddle back, a boat is a totally different fishing vessel than a kayak, comfortable, heaps more stable, and heaps more storage for my fishing gear‘ there is no stress with my boat, if you call re fueling & putting the bung hole is stress, then you shouldn’t own a car, same, pump up tyres and re fueling’ then your car is stressful, right ? Then you should use a push bike ? Right ?
The more I work on my boat, the more satisfaction I get ‘ once a boat is ready, it will last for years !
Great video, kayak fishing is fun though’

I can appreciate your take. Thanks for watching. I’ve owned a plethora of boats over the years. Many. Brand new with warranty and 30 year old boats. I am limited on time to fish and there is no stopping me with the yak. If something goes wrong or needs working on with the boat I can’t fish. I also learned to not have to go fish every spot on the lake. I pick the high percentage areas and figure them out. Livescope also had been a game changer for me on the yak. So simple to use on it also. There are pros and cons to both but for me personally to just go catch some fish for fun or to eat the simplicity of the yak rules over having to deal with the boat and its expenses that come with it.

this is interesting to hear because i LOVE BOATS - however they have their time and place. if i am going on my public water near my house. i have small lakes around me and shallow lakes near me. i would take the kayak out most. however when i am up at the cabin, the lakes up north are MUCH bigger and MUCH deeper. there i would use a boat.

I've heard boat owners refer to the acronym BOAT: Bust Out Another Thousand. Kayaks don't have the problem of fixing things being expensive. Over the last 6 years of running two kayaks for my wife and I, we have had very few problems. And the two issues we did have were under warranty. Both Hobie and Old Town were great to work with us.
Each of us having our own yaks works well. If I want to fish a drop shot and my wife wants to troll, we can do that.
We have a smaller local lake that has a wakeless speed rule for the entire lake. The pleasure boaters don't bother going there. I love kayak fishing that lake! It's popular enough a state park is going to be built there. New launch facilities and a new campground, while keeping the current boating regulations.

All great points Lucas. Another reason I love kayaking is being so close to the water. Looking in the water and watching the fish and even the weeds or trees down below is a great way to relax. Not the same in a boat. 🙂

As much as I want to love getting out in the kayak, I find myself so uncomfortable fishing out of it. So it sits there as a lawn ornament. So saying it is less stressful than fishing out of a boat is completely wrong for me. After flipping my yak I have never been the same. I want to give it another try for sure but I have not been the same since then. I have had more issues with my Yak then anything I have had with my Tracker when I had it back in the day. Also with here in NJ for me personally, It is hard to fish big water in a Yak with the amount of boat traffic around no caring if you are in a yak.

    • @TheOutdoorConquest

Thanks for stopping and watching brother! Hey flipping happens! I’ve fell outta one during a tournament and flipped one in the last few years. It definitely is a reminder of what you can and cannot do on some of these kayaks. The one I’m in now I can fish 8 hrs in and not get a sore behind or back at all but it’s my 4th kayak in the last few years. I had the complete opposite experience with Tracker. I had a 2021 Targa v18 and I had not only the worst experience with a new boat but getting the work done was almost impossible.

I was in a faster part of the river than I normally fish and took a chance on freeing a lure that was not worth the risk. I was feeling too comfortable that day. But I am right back out there and remind myself don't take unnecessary risk. I hope one day you are able to get back out there and have fun on your kayak.

IMO, your bigger tournaments like KBF & BASS have redefined the definition of "kayak". tournament rigged kayaks can go for over $20K. they're more like small boats than kayaks. i guess it's how one interprets the word "simplicity" that makes it a kayak. motors on a kayak, IMO, no longer makes it a kayak. also, IMO, live scope needs to be band from ALL tournaments.

    • @TheOutdoorConquest
      @TheOutdoorConquest  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I appreciate your input. I will have to disagree with 20k kayaks. Even with the latest kayak on the market…adding 2 motors and live scope with all the bells and whistles you’d still be around that 10k mark. It’s not for everyone. With kayaks you can keep it simple and limit the amount of extras or you can go all out. I agree they are like small boats but that’s what they have evolved too. Just like everything else things will evolve more and more. Thanks a lot for taking the time to watch and leave a comment I truly appreciate it!
