I had this on a bandit, worked then didn't, changed plugs, worked, then stopped again. Finally found it was an intermittant fault on the CDI/ICU, replaced and no issues since
Hi, the fumes coming from the carbs, is it actually from the carbs or from the airbox? I think there is a crankcase breather pipe which feeds into the airbox, could be blowby from the crankcase you are seeing.
im no expert but that sounds like a blocked air jets in the carb. or a vaccum leak . when you cleaned the carbs did you poke wire in the air jets in the carb and check for blockages.

That kind of makes sense and fits with the symptoms. I have a spare CDI so cost nothing to try. Cheers.

Carbs haven’t been apart mate, maybe they need doing.
