    Ok ok ... as an avid Ninja 400 fan with ALL the upgrades (yes, mostly from TST), I will confidently say - the face-lift of this bike makes me want it. If TST and others would provide the same upgrade-ability as they do for the 400, then i would gladly buy one. But im going to need that custom carbon fiber airbox w a stage 3 tune for sure. Not to mention a bright, flashing, and good-looking tail light, too, and a perfectly-tinted zero gravity windshield. Anything TST offers for the 400... offer it for this bike, and you will have convinced me to give my money away for 50 more cc.

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +20

      Well I can tell you right now that we have qualified all of the parts from the 400 onto the 5 except tail light, fender eliminator, frame sliders. I designed and prototyped through last weekend and pushed the fender eliminator parts through the machine shop. They went out to anodize yesterday and will show up on our website real soon. The tail light is in concept phase. Reverse engineering of oe geometry will begin soon and then design of our unit. We started working on frame slider design today. Also working on getting into the ECU for a tune vut that will be a week or two.

    Enjoyed this video - good info. I’m looking forward to the dyno/track video next. But I think your price analysis is a bit misleading. The SE versions are listed at $6300 and provide a good value for what you get for an extra $1000. You’re comparing msrp of $10,000 bikes with an inflated out the door price of a ninja 500. Equates to an apples to oranges comparison. I’m looking forward to getting my hands on one as a second bike. Currently have Versys X-300 with the ninja 300 engine in it and it’s a lot of fun. Been looking at the ninja 400 as a second toy, but after riding one, wasn’t convinced. The 500 in the SE version fixed each of the issues that I have with the 400 and I think it’s a great value - plan to grab one this summer. Thanks for being the first good riding video on TH-cam of the Ninja 500.

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the feedback. My price comparison was solely based on our experience with some other local dealerships. One quoted us at $9,575 for a KRT SE OTD. Absolutely insane. I know there are still several dealerships out there that care about the customer more than a major profit but sadly, I do believe they are becoming the minority in that regard. -ML

      What problems did you have with the 400? Other than being a little under powered, it handles very well and does have good accel. Just curious.

    • @gconvit85
      @gconvit85 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree, it’s a bit unfair to make a blanket statement regarding the $10k out the door of one specific area, and comparing the worth of the 500s vs bigger, more expensive bikes. I got my Z 500 SE for $6900 out the door, so there are still some good dealers out there not charging ridiculous fees. Although I admit it takes some research and expanding your search area a bit.

    • @MumanRides
      @MumanRides 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JeremyDNI think the 400 is a great bike. I really didn’t have a problem with its power. I’m happy the improvements to the engine are a huge bonus that I think are going to carry more weight in rider experience than they appear to carry on paper. Its lightweight feel and fun factor makes that much more of a balanced trade-off for me. What was pushing me away from the 400 and toward the 650 was the lack of wind protection for the highway, the forward slant of the seat that tends to push you forward crushing your jewels, the older instrument cluster (which was not bad at all, just due for an update). Minor problems regarding the comfort factor of the bike more so than performance - that particularly, the SE model seems to address. It looks to me like a great bike just got better.

    • @MumanRides
      @MumanRides 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TSTindustriesI agree, some dealerships, whether on bikes or cars will mark up msrp on new models to try to make you pay a premium for buying the first ones that hit the showroom floor. The 4Xrr’s are a big example of that.

Even being a bigger guy I am happy with the bike’s forgiveness of my mistakes. I was terrified hopping out on the street, but after putting on a couple miles told the dealership to not worry about delivering it. After 50 miles I already love it although after getting my license and getting used to riding I can see myself selling this in about a year for something bigger. To get a "500", Kawasaki just lengthened the stroke on the existing 400 engine, which results in a bike that has more torque and a lower RPM ceiling. I.e. they intentionally added torque instead of horsepower (which makes for better city riding IMO).

      This bike has enough grunt to have fun while also being lightweight and beginner-friendly enough to not get in over your (her) head. If you were to go the route of a 600cc+ bike, I would suggest looking at twins instead of inline 4s. The Ninja 650 might be a good option as well but personally, I would recommend this bike or a used Ninja 400 for a first-time rider.
