    Officially due three days from today (when I’m uploading) aghhh! 😆 Had a bad chest infection and with the stress of Christmas I feel like she’s made herself VERY comfortable in there … hopefully not much longer! 🤞🏻 Please let me know how you are, how your holidays have been and what you most want out of the ‘from house to home’ series in 2023! 🥰 Family stuff? Decorating? Reno planning? Before & afters? Daily vlog style? Now is your chance to help shape future videos! ❤️❤️❤️ xxx

      Loving your vlogs again lately Mel! I've been watching you since your viral acne video and went through ED recovery with the help of your vids. Now at 24 years old I'm in my first trimester with my first baby and it's so lovely to be able to watch your old and new pregnancy vlogs and house Reno vlogs and feel like I have an older sisters that's gone through the same journey. Happy New Year and good luck with the birth x

    the runner in the hall is super nice, but because it's not centred to the door due to the size i think you're right that a wider one would be better!

    • @melaniemurphyofficial
      @melaniemurphyofficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      I definitely want a wider one/the one I originally ordered 😭 Just have to convince Thomas that we should give this one to a family member with a different-shaped hallway … 🙈😂❤️

    I love the runner in the entrance hallway, I just think it's perhaps a little narrow, I think it would look good if it was a bit wider but obviously it's your house, your choice and it looks great anyways! X

  • @SuperHackwurscht
    @SuperHackwurscht 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The hallway would look so great with some mid wall panelling and the skirting in the same colour as wall. That way it'd look nice and cottagey while remaining a calm/clean/simple space

  • @carriegee2989
    @carriegee2989 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I think wider runner in the hall. We bought our fixer upper the same as you all, and also concentrated on making the house comfortable… new heating, new windows and doors. Now on to more “fun” stuff. ❤

    I'd keep the runner but stick a thinner (not width, but pile thickness), wider rectangular rug of a contrasting color/pattern underneath it to fill in more of the foyer. Always liked the rug layering in castles and such, and the lamp is very "castle" lol.

    There's a lot of things that have been done! 😊 We bought out house 3.5 years ago, and still only mamaged to renovate about 25%, with a1.5 y/o child..! It takes time, money, and just all the thinking required to figure out how you want it is difficult. You're doing very well, especially with a second child on the way, and the book! 😄

    You two have done SO MUCH this year, I'm tired just watching! Good for you in making such progress transforming your home into the visions you've dreamed of. It's inspiring! I've been in my home 30+ years now, have been through raising 3 kids and some troubled times and a divorce, and now I'm looking at the house with fresh eyes, thinking about how I want the house to be for my next chapter. I've already made some good changes, but there's a lot of work to do. Good luck with the new baby coming, and all the busy-ness that is coming having 2 kids! (Twins were my first, so I never experienced just having one.) Love your videos!

    I think it's nice to take your time doing up your home. It's great to have the big jobs done (some of them at least!) and then go at your own pace. Also I much rather shelve and mantel bits and pieces to have meaning, like from travels or just something you saw and loved. Not just going to a home shop and buying vases and decor to use. It's nice when a home reflects the people who live there. Your house is lovely!

    Yes! wide rug! Oh please fly me to ireland! I’ll design the hobbit house of your dreams! Im dead serious 👀
    Lamps are your friend! Overhead lighting is 👎🏻 Considering tone when choosing color in decor and wall art is EVERYTHING! It will give a sense of peace when all the colors are in harmony with each other instead of all singing individually if that makes sense. And if something feels off or you feel overwhelmed by looking at the composition of a space it’s usually that or the position of your furniture.

    The house looks great with all the updates!
    I'm curious about the cosleeping situation - won't it bother baby #1 if baby #2 is waking up and crying in the night? Like, wouldn't baby #1 get a better nights sleep in their own room?
    I fully understand co-sleeping with an infant that you have to get up and breast-feed in the night! Just curious how it works when you add a second child into the mix.

      My new baby hasn’t once cried in the room, it’s 5 nights in now! So far we are bed sharing with her and using the cot for daytime naps etc as being close to me and breastfeeding means she just doesn’t cry it’s great! I do her nappies in another room though as sometimes the wipes give her a shock lol! Regardless though we use a white noise machine and our son is a very heavy sleeper, we often do be getting ready for bed and chatting and laughing and he stays asleep even when he’s in our bed! 😂 xxx

    I'd personally put a wider rug in the hall.
