  • Sigma 30mm f1.4 vs sigma 16mm f1.4 comparison. Lots of test videos and photos to show you the difference.
    It's difficult to know which one to buy. The Sigma 16mm 1.4 and the Sigma 30mm 1.4 are very similar in many ways but the also have a few differences. In this review and comparison I will show some real life examples of what you can expect from these lenses. And also reason a bit about who I believe those lenses are for.
    I will show the differences in Sigma 16mm 1.4 portrait video compared to Sigma 30mm 1.4 portrait video.
    I hope this will give you an idea which lens is right for you. the sigma 30mm vs 16mm. If you have the budget both the Sigma 16mm and Sigma 30mm are great value for money, and I really recommend both lenses.

      Thank for your feedback! Yeah, both lenses are allrounders, so I understand it can be confusing for people to chose without a side by side comparison. I believe it's easier to buy a lens like your Sigma 85mm for Canon that has such a natural purpose like portraits and other similar photos. The equivalent for APSC would be the Sigma 56mm 1.4. Cheers!

      The 16mm is probably my favorite of the two. If you have a program like lightroom, see what focal length you use most on your zoom. That can indicate which prime lens that will fit you best. Me personally would go for the 16mm since it’s more suitable for the webcam application. For photography alone the 30mm is more my style of photo. The 16mm is also a good all rounders for photography though so it’s depending on your style. I'm looking for a lens to do top town shots of me crafting on a table and struggling to figure out which lens would be better. With the 16mm I'm concerned with the warping effect and with the 30mm I'm worried I would need to mount the camera really high to capture everything which in turn would put the overhead softbox too far away. Any thoughts?

      I would go for the sigma 16mm 1.4. It has also better close up distance if you want to take close ups of your crafting. If it is too wide or warped, you can zoom in a bit using clear image zoom. Given that your camera supports that. What camera do you have?

Do you need the fast aperture f1.4 and the shallow depth of field for your car photos? Maybe you should look into a zoom? • @gadgetsandtech

      In image/video quality they are almost on par. The 16mm 1.4 is slightly better in my opinion, but the different is almost not noticeable in most situations. So it boils down to what focal length is best for you.For skits I believe the the 30mm 1.4 is best, because you would have to move very close to shoot with the 16mm 1.4. If you have access to a zoom lens, try to set it to 16mm and then to 30mm to which focal length that would suit your needs best.

    If you were to use only 1 sigma lens for cinematic videos, What will you choose between the 16, 10 and 56mm? thanks

    • @gadgetsandtech
      @gadgetsandtech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would be the sigma 30mm or sigma 16mm. They are both all rounders.The sigma 56mm is more of a single application lens for portraits, or details if you shoot video. The 30mm has a more “normal” look, while 16mm is somewhat wide, so it depends on what visual expression you want to achieve. You can also use clear image zoom on some camera models, so you get a small amount of zoom even on your prime lenses. If you have access to a zoom lens like the Sony selp1650 or 1655g you can play around and try filming using only a fixed focal length to see which focal length that feels best for you and your style of videos.

    aand if you want something in between them both you can always take the 22mm f2 canon lens :)
    K i didnt notice this one's a sony guy XD

      The Sigma lenses are available for the Canon M system too, like the Canon m50 and Canon m6. Then the Canon 22 f2 can be a good alternative. Thanks for the suggestion. Do you use the Sigma lenses with a Canon camera? How do you like them?

    Will sigma 30mm 1.4 give the output of 45mm on my sony a6000 having APS-C sensor?

    • @gadgetsandtech
      @gadgetsandtech  ปีที่แล้ว

      It will give a very similar output. It is actually not extending the focal length, but cropping it due to the sensor. So it will frame/crop the image equally like 45 mm on a full frame. But it will not be exactly the same relation between aperture and focal length. So 45mm f1.4 in full frame would give a slightly shorter depth of field. Cheers!

      @@gadgetsandtech to be honest both, I realized through your video that the 30mm is great for portraits while the 16 is wider. The 16 will definitely work best for me because I’m looking for that one all rounder lens. I already have the 55-210mm already so that’s a fairly decent telephoto. I mainly want to do live streaming while I’m teaching, some photography with more nature/scenery and vlogging. Your review FINALLY erased all my doubts.

    Minns för två år,sedan när jag såg denna video, köpte 30 mm och har älskat den så mycket. Dock tappa jag min Sony a6000 i marken nyligen och den la av helt och hållet. Haha så jäkla dumt. Men kanske är dags att uppgradera snart. Är den någon skillnad på a6400? Känns som att om jag skulle köpa en fullformat kommer den beskära lite.

    • @gadgetsandtech
      @gadgetsandtech  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Kul att du gillade 30mm så mycket! Det är en av mina absoluta favoriter också! Det är samma utsnitt på a6000 och a6400. Största skillnaden för foto tycker jag är att a6400 har så mycket bättre autofokus än a6000. Det känns även som att sökaren är mer högupplöst, men det vågar jag inte lova. Även om nyare modeller har ännu bättre fokus idag. För video är a6400 överlägsen a6000 på många sätt. I många av Sonys fullframe finns det en funktion att den bara använder en liten ruta i mitten på sensorn som motsvarar crop sensor i storlek. Då kan du använda crop sensor-objektiv. Nackdelen blir ju lägre upplösning.

    Great review and example photos. It's a shame that the 30mm has onion bokeh. I'm considering the 56mm for portraiture.

      Thank you! I have a sigma 56mm 1.4 that I haven’t reviewed yet. It’s a great lens too. It’s more of a single application lens, for portraits, even if you can shoot other things too. While the sigma 16mm and 30mm are more of all rounders but with different characteristics. I’m sure you will be happy with the 56mm 1.4 for your portraits though! :-) cheers!

    I have the 30mm sigma 1.4
    Im Thinking of getting a viltrox 85mm or a 16mm sigma
    cant decide if I should get the latter or the former or maybe none

    • @gadgetsandtech
      @gadgetsandtech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried the viltrox 85mm, but in general 85 mm is a bit long for APSC. I did shoot a lot of 85 mm when I was using my Canon full frame system, but even then it was a bit long. So it's more of a single application portrait lens. The Sigma 16mm is more of an allrounder. Compared to the Sigma 30mm 1.4 the Sigma 16mm 1.4 is more suitable for vlogging because it is wider. If you should buy it or not also depends what other lenses you have. If you have the kitlens, you can try it at 16mm to if it is a focal length that goes well with the kind of content you want to create.

    Pls... Open your 1 eye and compare it with 50mm photo.... Our eyes do not have 50mm field of view, you need to stitch nine 50 mm photos to achieve our eyes field of view... Or may be we are from different planets with different biology

    • @gadgetsandtech
      @gadgetsandtech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the overall look and feel is different, but around 50mm is widely considered being similar the eye. But since the eye and the camera sensor are so different it is impossible to make a totally fair comparison. Cheers!
