Used to have a 1979 'Zuki. Loved that little truck...went anywhere. If I ever got stuck, I would put it in gear, pull out the manual choke, and get out and push. Worked almost every time. Cheers.
One of the best videos related to "Gypsy" on the internet. This is a 1000cc Gypsy which was also sold in India and widely used by the army and the police. The current version here is 1300cc "Gypsy King", still used extensively by the army and the police. Personally, used a 1300cc Gypsy King (aka SJ413 ) for many years and have taken it to much worse places than shown in the video; it always made it look like piece of cake. Only a Tank can chase a Gypsy off the road, say a lot of people here. Kudos to the people who made this video!
Hey that is awesome, I am fixing up a '91 samurai sj410 that wasn't even running when I bought it. It now runs pretty good and I have it running on both lp gas and petrol. I also have the same snorkel as you but since I added lp gas I had to build a hood scoop as the carb sits up pretty high with the extra attachment for the lp gas. I had to switch out the original automatic choke carb with fuel injection for a fiat carb with manual choke and no fuel injection.
I miss my '87 Samurai tin top. It' had the 1300cc...Minor engine upgrades and 130 amp alternator. It was all stereo...That was the thing to do in the state's back in the late 80's... Those tin tops had good acoustics...Hit hard.
haha, same here, have a 1990 stock, veeery fun to drive even just keeping up with traffic, never had this much fun with a car on and off road! planning of doing a total restoration and makeover (mostly fixing up the rust)
The old SJ was in very smart condition when you got it, almost impossible to find like that in the UK now, it was a great little 4x4 in its day. Great vid, it looks great now you've finished.
retrorocker44 They are always ruined by the ONE LIFE LIVE IT crew. I bought one a few weeks ago, it had been painted with black gloss emulsion, rust had been welded over, running gear completely shagged. I have started restoring it, or at least reversing the OLLO mods.
Nice little Zook! I'd rock that. A friend is trying to sell me an '82 SJ410 pickup. Tempting... So many good memories in Samurais years ago. Take care!
Hey. Thanks for watching. If you get the chance, you should definetly get a hold of one of these little trucks. they are great fun, easy to handle. and a joy to work on.
wow great video. Very well done. I used to own a jimny when i lived in Japan great little vehicle. I Love the G class as well. I see that they are available here in San diego Ca. now but alas i live in the philippines now.
Chris Gibby, Lucky you, I want one. I drive a JKU, but would love to have one as well for off road hopping in tight woods. The JKU is too long for the tightest stuff. Nice for long trips, but Suzuki has to be one of the most fun little, daily off road trail hoppers out there. Good luck.
Tom Nelson besides the independent front suspension and larger size, the replacement Vitara/sidekick/tracker is pretty much as capable. though maybe not as cool!
hello, good video. that year is the samu and you modified the engine, rafter filter and change tires that are far more climbs through your samurai videos
great video, there's obviously way more that you could do to this little truck, but that doesn't necessarily mean you have to do it, I think with the engine stock it doesn't need a lift, if anything maybe a 1" body lift for more clearance of tyres, but its simple and looks and performs great.. thanks..
Hey. Thanks for watchin' This little truck actually got forther upgrades later on, including a full suspension kit. " 2" Trail Master. Suzuki SJ. Flex Like a Hummer " And swapping the engine for a bigger one. " Suzuki Samurai Engine swap Time Lapse "
Hi. Thank you for an inspiring movie. What did you choose for winch? It does not look too beefy. Do you have any tips about the assembly of the winch? What's the make of the snorkel and tires? Will pick up my SJ413 later this week, and am eager to start modifying.
Hi there, thanks a lot. You are right, the winch seen mounted in this video, is a very small 1,5 ton winch. Mostly meant for ATV's. But given the cars low weight, it would do in a pinch. However, later on, i built a custom bumper for it, and mounted a 4,5 Ton Warn winch to it. The tires i think were "Insa Turbo" and the snorkel were a no-name thing, but a copy of the ARB Safari snorkel. Both were bought at "Jimnybits.co.uk" Thanks for watching!
@@KJOff-Road Thanks you for the information. My plan is to install a smaller winch at the back of my car and then a bigger one up front. I really really like how you mounted the vinch behind the original bumper and think I will do something similar to my car.
hi, awesome video!!! thanks a lot! question plz, can i fit 31s in stock sj410? (vitara engine) .. i see u didn't change suspension or lift it,,, thanks
Very observant. Yes thats correct, one of the shackels had a bit of damage, so we made a new set, of slightly thicker steel. And also made them about 1 1/2 inch longer.
First rule of off roading is, keep your thumbs on the outside of the steering wheel, that way, if the steering suddenly pull due to an obstacle, you don’t break your thumbs. Also, the roof rack mountings need more bracing, as it wobbles about and they will fatigue break , with unpleasant consequences .😊
Hah yeah. This was a really long time ago, by now. Still miss that little suzuki though. But yeah, i do keep my thumbs out, when things get rough. But it was actually not much of a consern on this, because it was so light, it really didn't have that tendency to throw the steering wheel, like many bigger trucks do. And yeah, i noticed that problem with the roof rack, after seeing my video footage, so i did go and change the mounts :)
We recently acquired one of there with a siezed motor, other than fixing the motor what are some cheap worth while up grades you'd recommend for light off road?
I have been working on my Suzuki Samurai 1993 for more than 3 years and the only thing that I can´t fixed is the Fuel Injection and something wrong with the MAP Sensor :( Great job. Regards from Mexico.
Thanks a lot. And best of luck with the little faults on your Samurai! we never even got them with fuel injection here, only old-school carburetors. haha.
Hey. Thanks a lot. At the time, we put a small 1,5 ton (3500 lb.) winch on it. mostly because it would fit nicely just behind the stock bumper. But we are currently rebuilding the front, with a new bumper and putting on a Warn X9000i winch instead.
TeamArmyTrucks Awesome! Im thinking about getting a small one only for the looks and the price, here in my country a good 9000lb winch will set you back 1300 dollars. The only thing I wouldn't have done is those tyres.. They're way too big and unsuited for the Jimny.. pretty sure they will rub on the flares when the car flexes too.. Hi ! Really nice video ! Iwas wondering what kind of paint did you use ? Thanks !
With the samurais, is 30 about the maximum tire size you can go without having to lift it?
Yes, 30" seems to be the about the max, both in terms of clearance and gearing.
Thanks for watching!
nice!, i love this machines. i have a suzuki samurai (sj413). what size of tires did you put on it?
grettings from Chile!!
Hey. Thanks for watching!
The tyres are 215/80R15. about the same as 30"
Do you rub with this height?
Who makes those tires they look like a old buck shot mudder
