I know you're concentrating on the vocals mainly--- but I feel like you're cheating yourself on of the rest of Dimash's artistic abilities. Like his ability to emote thru his eyes, facial expressions, hand gestures, body movements= they all add sooo much to the performance. Prime example is his playful expression during Opera 2 , it is absolutely adorable, to me. I know it looks like when you're listening you've been transported somewhere else (pleasantly so). But I hope at least later you visually watch his performance to get the full effect. Because he is that, not just a singer, but an Optium Performer = he IS the total package !! Just my opinion. Otherwise you're reviews can usually bring me to tears, and I thoroughly enjoy them and your informative knowledge and appreciation of him. Blessings !! 🎵🎼🎵🎼💞🙏🙏

Hi, Rocky...This is Jim from Texas. I got so excited when I found your reaction to "Adagio" by Dimash. Two years ago when I was 77, I was in a period feeling depressed and burned out on the overproduced shallowness of American mainstream music, and I started a project to research artists from all over the world. Ironically, Dimash was my first of many discoveries, and I was also amazed at how outrageously talented, trained, and dedicated he is to his art. I've heard him called a "freak of nature" but after researching his life story, I also believe he is a "freak of culture" because of the way he grew up and a "freak of genetics" because he has been gifted with an unusual vocal instrument. He was a child prodigy born to professional singer parents. When he was 2 years old, they discovered that he had perfect pitch. When he was 5, he decided that he wanted to be a great singer/artist, and his vocal and piano training began at age 5. At 6 he was performing onstage and won a Kazakhstan National piano competition. At 15 he graduated from a performing arts high school, and by the age of 22, he had earned a BA degree in Classical Voice and offered a job with The Kazakhstan National Opera Company but decided to pursue a career performing "Neo-Classical Music blending classical and pop along with Kazakh folk music. As you know, his technique is masterful and he is always close to pitch perfect, but there are two other dynamics that are a part of making him a rather new phenomenon. First thing is his unusual dedication and focus on what he always calls his art. Being a singer is all he has ever wanted to be. Secondly, he is unusually humble and respectful. He has had many singing idols including the great Lara Fabian, and he is highly respectful of them, and he has said that being "unpretentious" is essential to being a good human being. I have researched him deeply. He pulled me out of my depression about music and also gives me hope for all of us. When he wasc growing up one of his favorite artists was Lara Fabian, and he was so very thrilled when he finally met her and performed with her along with Aida Garaffulima at a huge sports event. They sang "Te Amor Cosi" and it is surreal to see him sing with his idol, Lara. Thank you so much for your explanation of his vocal and performance. I think he learned to "inhabit" the song from Lara Fabian. Take care and have a great day. I finally figured out that it is 6 hours later where you live, so it must be about 3:00pm there. I'm just having my morning coffee and watching your reactions.

You're the first vocal coach I've seen who described what he does, using almost the same words Dimash himself has used to describe it. He said that an artist must die on the stage and be reborn. How could it not be overwhelming to watch such a thing? Thank you for your emotionally transparent reaction. I feel that you understand something about Dimash's performance that not many coaches will grasp.

yes, for me too, i can't believe what he can does with his voice. he is like dismantling the boundaries which have generally been established and known by man in singing. yes, of course he got it with tens of thousands of hours of practice, but, there was no denying that it was a talent, a gift from God.

Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than Ten(10) languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "Popera" he also has a very pleasant, Humble and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, It has a very wide vocal range of approximately 7 octaves ,he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, TENOR , Soprano, against TENOR, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato, whistle tone, reaching a( D8 )live "Outside of Piano"at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from Venezuela🇻🇪, "Dears" Forever ❤️👍🏻 Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. Thanks for your analysis.
I've heard a vocal academic describe Dishash as commonly moving from his Head voice seamlessly up into his Flageolet register. Not many people seem familiar with this. Not sure why. [ The New York Voice Coach has a great clip explaining Flageolet ]
Yes. His rapid shifts between voice colours & genres are awe inspiring.
DIMASH 'gives his all' when he sings.
That's a large part of what draws people in. Engages / connects with them at such a deep emotional level. His operetic training gives him many tools to craft his delivery to crescendo climax & back down. He does this emotional roller coaster ride throughout most of his songs pulling his listeners along with him at each note & leaving the audience gasping & breathless at the end. Professional singers have commented that 'because they ARE singers' they find themselves breathing WITh him & holding their breath at the same length as his notes. Particularly his long notes.
I don't think its only singers that get caught up physically in his performance. It's most listeners ! Your description of how his singing 'hits you' emotionally is absolutely accurate. Neuropsychologista will explain how certain types of high notes trigger the fight & flight responses in the human body. These release a flood of 'hyper alert chemicals throughout the brain & body. When these high notes ride the edge of anguish or fear or anger (are scream like) they trigger sensations (eg: English term: " my heart leapt into my throat!" )
When these notes are beautiful - pure - sustained - obviously very well controlled - this 'alert response flips into delight & awe.
The Rollercoaster analogy is a very common comment & very accurate because his rises & falls are so spectacular & breath taking. But just as in many operatic forms he uses the technique of
( usually) bringing these heights back down into a very soft 'landing'.
It's his immense control that makes people feel emotionally safe to take this ride with him. And most of this process is not really conscious - because as you say it's such a physiological response.
All great singers do this. They plug in not only to your ears but into your entire body - and of course your heart. :)

I am a Dear, and love and respect Dimash.
The more vocal coaches I listen to, the more I hear, and the more I understand the complexity of his timbre and dramatic texture and colours of how he can make the same note so many different (impossible!!) ways, and it makes me love him even more. Thank you for your heartfelt reactions. ❤️❤️

I think this is the best performance of Adagio, both emotionally and sonically(?)from Dimash so far.
Most people who called Dimash an Alien usually referred to his vocal ability and range, and I agreed, but you are the first I've heard that refer to his ability to emote, agreed with that too !
I can see you have a real connection to this song , as it was a very heartfelt reaction. Thank you

I think the reason why he has this ability to convey emotions in such a way is because him as a person (I am guessing) has an ability to live emotions in such an organic way that it shows when he sings, enhanced by his powerful trained voice. For instance, you need to see him behave among hundreds of fans calling his name and surrounding him on airports... The way he behaves in life. I feel like he has a higher emotional intelligence than the average person.

THANKS for your reactions to Dimash!!!!......
Adagio. is a cover of Lara Fabian and is a song that demands a great voice, power and huge range. Dimash begins sitting by playing the piano, soft voice and then stands up and continues. He ends up on the other side of the stage kneeling and with crazy high notes are D5/E5/F5 for 14 sec. amazing ending. ......greetings from a Mexican Dear!.....👏🏻🙏🏻❤️🇲🇽🇰🇿
Lara fabian congratulated Dinash by phone after this great performance. Lara is a musical influence from Dimash.
