Listening to this song, it makes me think of my death on earth, but not in a sad or morbid way. It is totally joyful. It makes me long to go home to my creator. It makes me long to swim in those oceans of love, for my soul to soar free and join with God. Yes, this is the ultimate death song...but I don't think I would be so cruel to inflict it upon my grieving loved ones at my funeral even though I would want to have it sung for me! It would be unbearable to them. Pain and sweetness and tears. Yet cathartic. And Dimash, YES, he totally IS the song. The composer (Piergiuseppe Zaia) initially composed this as an orchestral piece for his film, "Creators: The Past". It's on the soundtrack of the film, and the title of the piece is "The Story of Jesus". When asked about the song, Zaia said that it's about the Garden of Gethsemane. After lyrics were written for the composition (under the title "Across Endless Dimensions"), the composer said that the song, for obvious reasons, should be sung by the most beautiful voice in the world. His co-producer started googling for the most beautiful voice in the world, and she quickly came up with Dimash's name. After watching some of Dimash's youtube videos and being mind-blown, she showed them to Zaia, who immediately contacted Dimash's team. Zaia created a demo recording for Dimash to hear the song. It required 3 different singers to make the demo, and even then the operatic soprano couldn't reach the highest notes at the end. Dimash agreed to go to Italy to record this track for the film's closing credits. Sony released Dimash's track last year with a video, using green screen and FX in which Zaia inserted Dimash into scenes from his science fiction film...so lots of spaceships, aliens and such. This new, just-released video you reacted to is Dimash's own creation/production, as he imagines the song. For me, this video seems closer to the original intent of the composition. Hadn't seen this version, only the video, it's amazing. Thank you for this. And thank you for the analysis, it's so dead on, it's the amazing thing about Dimash, it's not his voice, it's all of him. His all body is the artist, not just the voice. I always remember Adaggio and the funny thing is that even the stance it goes against what all you vocal coaches teach for sure, specially when hitting those notes, for sure being on your knees is not the proper body stance, but he is so complete as you say that his voice is just an extension and doesn't "suffer" when he is performing, regardless of body position. I don't know if he has "studied" some sort of monk meditation techniques to reach this state of "zen" while singing, but he definitely creates some sort of bubble and sits in it as nothing else exists in the world and delivers these amazing performances one after another. You are the first vocal coach that points this out, the "completeness" and it just shows that even for you singing is just more than the voice, thank you for the raw and genuine reactions and i start to wonder if i get emotional because of Dimash (which i always do anyway) or because of your own reaction to him. I've watched a whole lot of Dimash reactions for a few years running now, and your comment reminds me of one reactor in particular -- although I can't for the life of me recall precisely which one -- who commented something along the lines of Dimash being the perfect script, the perfect score, the perfect instrument, the perfect performer who not only sings the song, but rather IS the song, such that when he comes onto stage to perform, he executes himself.
Dimash doesn't just sing. I'm right with you on that. So are a whole lot of the rest of us. Dimash is IT.

Hadn't seen this version, only the video, it's amazing. Thank you for this. And thank you for the analysis, it's so dead on, it's the amazing thing about Dimash, it's not his voice, it's all of him. His all body is the artist, not just the voice. I always remember Adaggio and the funny thing is that even the stance it goes against what all you vocal coaches teach for sure, specially when hitting those notes, for sure being on your knees is not the proper body stance, but he is so complete as you say that his voice is just an extension and doesn't "suffer" when he is performing, regardless of body position. I don't know if he has "studied" some sort of monk meditation techniques to reach this state of "zen" while singing, but he definitely creates some sort of bubble and sits in it as nothing else exists in the world and delivers these amazing performances one after another.
You are the first vocal coach that points this out, the "completeness" and it just shows that even for you singing is just more than the voice, thank you for the raw and genuine reactions and i start to wonder if i get emotional because of Dimash (which i always do anyway) or because of your own reaction to him.
