The glass doors do make the area look bigger and it's nice that you can see the lovely items that are stored. The solution for the gap worked perfectly and looks like it was meant to be that way!

You go Girl! Tear into those walls to give yourself some more storage space. Ask your brothers. You'll know if you hit a major beam, then stop. You can put your summer/winter clothes in there. You know how to hang a door to hide the closet. You just do it! I know you can. Please film it though, you are tres inspiring. Thank you for sharing.

It looks lovely and, despite your modest opinion of your work, is Pinterest-worthy! As part of my husband's profession (he has his own business), he does renovations and repairs, so I can tell you that you filled the gap exactly correctly. It is perfect. And the 3 baskets were just right. I can't wait for the "door into Narnia!" (You always crack me up.) You will definitely want a professional to come in to determine where your electrical and plumbing are running behind the walls - don't want you flooding your beautiful home or electricuting yourself! ❤

What a lovely and inspiring vlog to wake up to, here in my 12th week of lockdown in New Zealand!
I’m about to purchase an Ikea Billy bookcase with three glass doors to replace my traditional dresser in the kitchen as a china storage cabinet. I have decided to make my fine dinner ware and tea-sets more accessible for everyday use (as you do in your home) and therefore be able to enjoy the beauty of seeing them and using them daily. Love your videos and I hope many support your site by watching the ads - or replaying each vlog a few more times? 😉😅💖🇳🇿

Look at Blondie - she's knackered, poor girl! Loved the end result, especially the insert on the doors, fab idea. I would have put crystal faceted handles on, purely because I love them, and they're so light reflective. They're also easier for my older hands to grasp without your smacking my nails, which I wear long.

Making more storage of those spaces will be great. I have seen people make dressers in there, putting in drawers for recessed dresser. A lady I follow her blog she has, like you were saying for the doors on the side of you couch, doors for storage of her Christmas decorations. Use every bit you can. Love your solution for your new doors, looks normal.

  • @MyWaywardLife

Girl! Ya did it again!! It looks awesome! I think the glass doors bring in some depth and as a result makes the space appear bigger! I was totally thinking, put the strip on the back end of the door so it gives the illusion that it’s a shelf (what are they called…) brace? Divider? But you don’t block access to the actual shelf… and you did just that! Felt as right as rain that I was channeling my inner Dainty as I watched heehee! Great minds and all that! 😄. Do we still get a Thursday video as well?!😃🤗🙏🏽

I know I'm late to the party but to be fair you were very early (we all get confused by dates from time to time 😊) Great idea to attach the strip to the door rather than the shelves. When you were holding the strip up it did occur to me that you would be restricting access to the cupboard. It was a stroke of genius to attach the strip to the door. Well done you 👏

Not only do the new doors make the area look bigger, but brighter too if that makes sense. I would imagine it would be easy to put some battery operated led lights in there if you wanted a little bit of light in the area for night time or something. I have always referred to those kind of behind the wall areas as attic crawl spaces. The second floor of my house has a few of them, and they are lined with thin plywood for the walls and insulation, but ours don't really have wires or pipes. The previous owners used to use them, but we just don't have a need for them at the time as we have a full basement as well, which can hold a lot of stuff. lol. I am like you, I can not function if there is a mess. My brain just seems to focus on how the mess needs to be cleaned and I can't focus on the task at hand. Thank you for yet another tip! I swear you are just full of them, but I love it all.
