I have one. I got the POE to USB instant adapter as well. I put mine outside on the front porch. Its under cover so I think it will be fine. We will see how long it will last lol.
Hi, thanks for the review, specially the value for money you did at the end. Question: can the uvc cameras recognised by the UDM Pro when they powered by non unifi poe switch? (At the same network, modem---> udm--> switch --> uvc
How secure are these cameras if put on a seperate vlan in your network? Other than using a strong wifi password how else can you secure this device to prevent anyone from hacking in and watching in on you with this indooor camera.
I have a g3 flex, g4 bullet, and a g3 instant. The g3 instant looks the best out of them all. What is the deal with that?! I have tried messing around with the settings but the instant just looks better to my eyes. Anyone else experience the same?
@@MillerTechnicalServices OH i searched resellers. Most are asking for over $100 USD so I didn't bother. I can see why they're limiting purchases as they are so cheap, but to only 1 I feel is a tad overkill.
Just use a different email address to get another camera. They're probably limiting purchases because of chip shortages, not because they want you to have only one camera. I don't feel so bad using multiple e-mail addresses to get more cameras though as long as I'm actually using them for security instead of them sitting in some stupid ebay hoarder's warehouse
@@ADHeyDonuts do you feel its over kill? Why they are giving people a chance to purchase at-least one vs people like me installing them who would buy in bulk.

Mad lad
How is our little camera doing outside?
Need a one year follow up Bryan Clarke, otherwise we will assume it got moisture, lit the house on fire, and you burned down with it.
Update needed

Yes. As long as the devices are on the same network, you don't need a Unifi AP or switch.
So I’m using a USG, would you recommend upgrading to the UDMP for Protect support or should I just get a CloudKey gen 2?
Yes
Im running the CKG2 with USG. I hate USG. I am going back to pfsense lol.
Dream machine pro all the way
Can you use this camera with a selfhosted unifi-video docker container or over RTSP? Thanks
Minor tip for future vids try zooming in browser as most of your screen space is wasted especially for side bar activity type stuff.

Anyone watching this in the future. The g3 instant is not $29. It's $79. The $29 price was while it was in early access.
I was looking to buy one today, summer 2024. Noticed the overpriced $79. Nope!
I got rid of self-hosted Unifi video once support stopped and installed Zoneminder and connected my Unifi video cameras to that
I didn’t know zoneminder worked with uvc cameras...
RTSP
Can you share your experience with this config? I would like to check that out.
As far as the forums say, this G3 Instant does not have stand-alone mode and thus no RTSP for zoneminder etc. It will only work with Unifi-Protect.
Yep the stock alert doesn't do anything. It's in stock right now as I'm typing this and I didn't get any alert.
Can it stop recording when you come home?
I wish they would of made this a stand alone unit like the wyze cameras

Do any of the g3 have person detection ?
Nope, only the G4 cameras have smart detections.
Can this be ceiling mounted?
You forgot to cover the tools menu to help us see if it can use RTSP in comparison to the Flex. Major faux pas!
Nice celling fan
I'd love to get one, but they are out of stock since months
They're back in stock now.
@@morpheus9274 I just checked the European store, still no devices available
Same. Been waiting to get one for a while now but still no stock.
Why would I even buy one of the instants? They're limited to only 1 per customer. Idk who only needs a single indoor camera.
Well they weren’t limited originally…. And you can find them from other resellers if you spend some time looking. I know it’s annoying though.

You talk about the fish eye look but you never once turn on distortion correction which eliminates that……. Scratches head
