12/24V POE is the 'old' POE standard. Pretty sure that all of Ubiquiti's gear is old-school. Basically old-school POE is passive power, but not a whole lot of power because it runs at a lower voltage. Newer POE+ gear is far better. POE+ runs at 48V (actually more around 56V), can run much further distances and push far more power. POE+ negotiates the power capability with the device and doesn't dump real power into the cable unless the negotiation succeeds. So a gigabit POE+ switch is far safer than a POE switch because it makes sure that all 4 pair in the cable are working. Ubiquiti is ... expensive. Easy to use, but expensive. In terms of 4K video cameras, well... just about all modern IP cameras have excellent resolution, and even good night vision for static scenes. Where all of these cameras tend to break-down is when people are moving around at night. A combination of H.264 or H.265 compression and long shutter times usually makes features like faces pretty blurry at night. You need good lighting... not just the dinky infrared LEDs built into the cameras, but actual good lighting at night, if you want to be able to get good pictures of moving objects. -Matt
Holy smokes those cameras are $615 each and you have TWELVE? Not even including the unify system.. like yes you saved the $6/mo Nest fee.. but at a cost of $7200+.. which is equivalent to 100 YEARS of membership. Unify is better for sure, but to say "I saved $6" doesn't really ship.
I think that it’s not so much the cost, but the fact that if the company goes out of business you almost certainly have no remediation, and you’re left with useless hardware. This way you have the cameras until the hardware fails.
Youll be re replacing the hardware at least once in your lifetime, most likely in 10 to 15 year intervals. You're paying a premium for a premium product, but that does not change how tech evolves and how we interact and experience this tech at higher and higher resolutions, refresh rates over time as storage mediums become more and more efficient.
1) You NEVER drill into the mortar of the brick wall! That is a no-no. Reason has to do with water ingress and freezing, eventually breaking up the mortar and loosening the bricks. 2) Your camera aiming sucks (for security). You are not taking a picture for a photo album, you want to point the camera where it can see the most crucial spaces. Seeing up into the trees and sky, is wasted view that could be looking at the area below. Frame your view by the outside edges, not the center (opposite of what you do for photography). 3) Be mindful of how movement will occur in the view area. Example: having the camera centered on the driveway, will have objects coming straight at the camera. That means the motion sensing will not pick until very close. Where as if you mount it to either the left or right side, objects coming up the driveway will cross the path of the zones more easily, setting off the motion detection much sooner and consistently. Also mounting it to low is going to put the motion of objects on the street, in the same motion zones as your driveway.
Did you miss the part where he said he's going to move the cameras? He's making a video here so obviously he'll point it to take a nice shot for the video. He's not a fucking moron, he'll move the cameras to better angles, not to mention the 9 other cameras he's installing. He can literally control the movement and angle of the cameras remotely, so to just assume what you saw was the final setting makes you look kinda really stupid.

snatchs on cable...

"It's big, so it's like not small"
-linus sebastian 2020
Holy smokes those cameras are $615 each and you have TWELVE? Not even including the unify system.. like yes you saved the $6/mo Nest fee.. but at a cost of $7200+.. which is equivalent to 100 YEARS of membership. Unify is better for sure, but to say "I saved $6" doesn't really ship.
It’s kinda real tho, buy once cry once
I think that it’s not so much the cost, but the fact that if the company goes out of business you almost certainly have no remediation, and you’re left with useless hardware. This way you have the cameras until the hardware fails.
Youll be re replacing the hardware at least once in your lifetime, most likely in 10 to 15 year intervals. You're paying a premium for a premium product, but that does not change how tech evolves and how we interact and experience this tech at higher and higher resolutions, refresh rates over time as storage mediums become more and more efficient.
I’ve seen Linus more than my friends these days

This guy cameras
@@vinicius401 this cameras very well indeed, all hail the camera guy
Did you miss the part where he said he's going to move the cameras? He's making a video here so obviously he'll point it to take a nice shot for the video. He's not a fucking moron, he'll move the cameras to better angles, not to mention the 9 other cameras he's installing. He can literally control the movement and angle of the cameras remotely, so to just assume what you saw was the final setting makes you look kinda really stupid.
