LAY HO MA! This is definitely a lazy day dinner recipe for sure. Join me in this episode and learn how to make a deliciously easy tofu bowl recipe right at home.
    Ingredients:
    1/2 cup jasmine rice
    1 cup water
    2 pieces garlic
    small piece ginger
    70g broccolini
    200g extra firm tofu
    1 tsp potato starch
1 tbsp plant based oyster sauce
    1/2 tbsp soy sauce
    1 tsp toasted sesame oil
    1 tbsp maple syrup
    drizzle of avocado oil
    1/2 stick green onion
    1 tsp white sesame seeds
    Directions:
    1. Place the rice in a small saucepan. Rinse and drain the rice two to three times to get rid of the excess starch
    2. Add 1/2 cup water to the rice and heat on medium high heat. When the water starts to bubble, turn the heat to medium low, give the rice a good stir, and cover for 15min
    3. Finely chop the garlic and ginger. Chop the broccolini into bite sized pieces
    4. Pat dry the extra firm tofu with a paper towel, then slice into cubes
    5. After 15min, turn the heat off on the rice and let it steam further for another 10min
    6. Make a slurry by combing the potato starch and 1/4 cup water together. Then, add the oyster sauce, soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, and maple syrup. Give the sauce a good stir
    7. Heat up a nonstick pan to medium heat. Drizzle in some avocado oil
    8. Add and sauté the tofu for 3-4min. Then, set it aside
    9. Place the pan back onto medium heat and add the broccolini, garlic, and ginger. Sauté for 2-3min
    10. Add the tofu back in followed by the sauce. Give the pan a good stir for about 10 seconds
    11. Add 1/4 cup water. Continue to cook for 3-4min
    12. Plate the rice followed by the tofu. Garnish with freshly chopped green onion and white sesame seeds

You also have such a limited vocabulary of the bragdocious words you use over and over and over and over.

@@adamswitlak1242 I was vegetarian since I was 21, and became vegan 4 years ago at 63. I never missed much meat wise. Cheese has been a tad challenging. So many of the commercial vegan cheeses are very oil heavy and since I try to avoid a lot of processed oil I eat them very minimally. I have found some good cheesy sauce recipes on TH-cam which are heathy and tasty and help me with that craving. Keep at it!

I just happened to have all the ingredients available, so I made this yesterday for lunch. After lunch I was busy dealing with minor emergencies so I didn't have time to review it.
The piece is very fast to make, and many vegans will have most of the ingredients always on hand, and as always, Wil's recipes do not disappoint. I have a half dozen or recipes like this which I can go to in a pinch, but this one is now one of the best for when I've gotta get it done with what I have available, and do it fast, but don't want to compromise on flavour. It's also going to be something I can choose if I have unexpected guests over and I want them to stay for dinner. It's something you can feel good about sharing with others, as well as at an unplanned dinner. This will make you a star not only with yourself, but also with your friends!

I stumbled onto your site by accident Friday and HAD TO do the sweet and salty tofu!- I did that last night, strictly following your recipe. Man, it was spectacular served with fresh caught salmon. Can't thank you enough for sharing your expertise. The deceptive simplicity of your recipe produces a subtilty perfect meal. Thanks. Cooking with a carbon steel wok now but looking for a spun carbon steel frypan to control temp better.
