New Quetz Meta: HONEY ! Quetz will follow Honey to the ground when you throw it from your hotbar. Takes a few to keep its attention. When down, place a gate and drop honey so it puts its neck through. Place a gate behind it and Bingo! Its crazy but it works on all levels. Easiest tame ever. (Upvote so he reads)

Saw a video about this method and I STILL picking my jaw up off the floor. Pretty sick taming method. But now I just shoot from the back of my rhynio. 😂😂
@@ISuckAtAirbrushing I think Honey is better, for this reason: You decide where he lands. Can guide it to a safe spot on land, before wasting shocking tranqs. Plus i dont have a Rhynio. :)

Just wanted to make sure that after watching the last episode, that Syntac knows that the dinos you get from the present system are Low level because ALL of their Stats are focused into a single stat, and make them grreat for Breeding.

My first successful quetzal tame (way back in ASE) did the same thing as this one: passed out over the river but landed on some rocks. Such a relief when you realize it's not going to drown. That was the second quetz I was able to knock out; the first one landed on an alpha raptor. :_(
Lmao yeah they use to fly to 50 50 which was black sands back then and that was way more dangerous than the current 50/50 & 60/60. Not nearly as dangerous now but still a lot of things that spawn around there.

Apparently you can lure quetz with honey, lure it down and put some gates around it

I’m glad, you were able to take that Quetz! Did a tame similar myself in ASE after ASA crashed on me. Lvl 130 Yuty stuck in the ice floes with two Carnos as sidekicks. Took out the Carnos, then KO the Yuty and it became fully immersed in water under the ice! Checked it’s oxygen saw it wasn’t depleting so loaded it up with food. Got a nice take out of that.

Easiest way for quetz trap in my experience. Set down a gate, drop honey in front of it till it’s head goes thru the gate, then just set a few around it. And done.

It's funny, earlier today I was watching a super old video of mine when you, me and Cosmic were taming quetzals. It's really weird looking back on 2016 Ark, it looks so different!

I use a Tapijara. Sit in the passenger seat and whistle to attack and you can shoot from the seat ( but cant steer -- other than attack and land ). Works great and no swinging from a rope.
A tapejara has always been my go-to method, but I might try the honey and dino gates next time around. I've never even considered trying the argy method - too bouncy.
the way that quetzal hit the ground and it's body thud against the rock and water splashed out from the sides, the power of unreal engine right there!

The only danger you have to worry about is when the quetz goes unconscious, if it falls on you, it can push you out the bottom of the trap. I usually grapple to the wall when knocking them out just in case.
The concept of the flyer nerf I was never against I just kinda wish every flyer was about 10% faster

The easier way to do that is to fly your questzal underneath it until its boxed in, and then dismount. Theres no collision while mounted.
I remember when everyone was taming quetz when they first came out because they were actually pretty good battle mounts

unfortunate that theres no settings to fix the cryopods that doesnt require messin with ini files, so us console players are still gettin needlessly screwed over. like i wouldnt even mind it if i could at least put a fridge on a saddle, then a quetz would finally have a use again >.

I always put the opening in the front of the trap. Makes it much easier.

I've done it once, and it was a struggle. Honestly, I don't know any other method without having another quetz lying about.
18:20 If its like the older version of Ark, you can definitely just fly into the other quetz.
It's pretty cool to use cryopods for organizing your dinos inside the base, but I when out in adventures, it seems more fun to not carry dinos in your pocket.

I used to have the open area in the flying trap at the front so you can just fly straight at it and you can place the wall before it turns around. Taming a 150 male as a one man tribe on pvp back inthe day made me friends with everyone on the server because they couldn't believe i was doing it on my own 😂 i also had a server reset halfway through which nade the quetzal fall through the trap into the swamp below and somehow managed to surround it before any snakes came 😅
The tranqued quetzal slide sounds like a dance move, I need to see what that would look like
One thing the Quetz has on the Rhynio is that the Quetz can transport full armies to the obelisks with the platform saddles, maybe not quick but better than one at a time

Eh, cryos have the fridge requirement which is a pain in the ass, also the sleep timers if you play on official. Sometimes a quetz is what you need
Unless quetz can also store a fridge and that works fine, in which case quetz are still your best option
I was hoping that the cryopod got a TLC to make it work faster, like the Dino storage mod.

I got a 135 quetzal a few days ago and it had neon green wings
when i played quetz was a ned dino and the way to tame it was using argy , parashute and a dart gun . praying that it will fall somewhere safe and not in water , it was quite dificult thing . i still got a save with my base and that quetz
the reason the quetzal moves is because all platform-able tames slide off other platform saddles and rafts. but it seems you can work around it by boxing them in.

Quetz is great to find and tame yutys. They don't freak out from fear roar and I can hover grapple dangle if needed to tranq.

That's an awesome taming method seems really funny.
I might be reaching, but old models like the Quetzal, Bronto, and Paracer really make themselves stand out... by looking out of place. At least a bit of a texture update would be nice, doesn't have to be a full-on TLC, just a change of visuals.

You should show more old school strats, though a lot are more useful with multiplayer tribes. Quetz and anky metal farm, theri and raft swamp tree farm
Well done on quetz tame ive tried and seen that trap style go bad so quickly, ie. Quetz sliding out of the trap and landing in the water or on aggressive critters

You could use honey to lure the quetz to the ground then trap it with gates. If you have enough honey to keep its attention you can just about lead it where ever you want.

Wished I would’ve commented earlier, seen a good amount of your recent videos and I seen that you’re a good problem solver. Would’ve like to see how you adjust to the cryopods for a week at least or a just a couple videos with you dealing with the limitations and what type of work around you come up with then more than welcome to toggle it off.
It can't pick up a Yuty, but can a Yuty walk onto the platform? That way you could just park a Quetzal with a trap on it (with a ramp) and just lure anything into the trap and then fly it to a safer location.
From my experience it is easier to whistle Argy passive when it catch up with Quetz then aim for the headshot.

Do people not know you can use honey? It will follow it all the way to the ground then you use Dino gates.
Shhhhh! This is more interesting and an alternate way of doing things that is fun to watch.
To be fair in ASE honey wasn’t the greatest option for luring, and compared to other options it was much more expensive. Plus when dealing with aggressive creatures they often switch between going after the honey and trying to eat you so for late game tames especially it’s just more time consuming
