And if the right products are used properly...and in the right amounts...it's the toughest paint system around. Unfortunately...even factory paint jobs done in base clear either feature inferior product, or simply not enough coats. Private body shops always short cut the process as well...making it quite inferior instead
You didn’t ask me, but here goes. If you’re hauling a box or reefer trailer, wings make terrific sense. If however you’re hauling logs, or flatbeds like the green Freightliner may be doing. The wings are useless weight.
I appreciate opinions of all sorts around here...as long as the person isn't coming across like an asshole...which you very much are not. I actually agree with you. However, we are in the unique situation of almost always converting an ex coast to coast truck to a more localized work truck...and that makes getting rid of the fairings much more feasible in most cases. This particular truck is going to haul calves and other livestock around Montana for the rest of it's life. Thanks for your input, buddy!
Most of the trucks we do are former long haulers that are now in their second or third life and they no longer stand to benefit from the air flow advantage. Plus this one has dual exhaust...which precludes the need to hide that frame mounted single pipe that the 120s are known for. Also, the stripes carry better without a wing in the way. Some people simply prefer the look. As do I

You said paper thin but I would’ve said whisper thin. Just like my dad’s old boxer briefs.
Ha! That's one way of putting it!

Did you see the phone number
Glad you called, Percy...and it good to talk to you. Thanks a lot, my new friend!
Base clear is such a shame. Can do all that work perfect underneath the finish product is doomed to fail.

@ I have a few in my fleet suffering from this. A bits disheartening to see 🤷
Why is everyone removing the Cabin Wings now?!? Did they figure out that it doesn’t improve aerodynamics or was it all just a fad to begin with?!?
