Jim Seals ( of Seals and Crofts), one of the writers of this song died on June 7, 2022. He was 80. Had Peter been alive, this news would have made him sad. Yup, Everything Dies. :'(
I remember hearing this for the first time late '94/early '95 on ZROCK radio in Poughkeepsie, NY. I was really surprised Type O would cover Seals & Crofts.
Started listening to Bloody Kisses as a 13-14 year old girl and it just went from there. Such unique feeling when you listen to this voice. I remember coming home from work one day and my best friend breaking the news to me. I cried for days... it was such a huge dream of mine to see ToN live. Now, 20 years from the first time I heard ToN I still get the same feeling. I can't describe it.
Anomalyah, I saw them live back in the 90's three times....I can tell you it was unlike any other show I've ever seen. Peter's voice was just phenomenal, addictive, and mesmerizing. It literally blew me away to experience them live. What a shame this incredibly talented man is no longer here with us. RIP Peter Steele & Type O Negative...Gone but not forgotten...Still have my Bloody Kisses cassette! 💜
I agree such a unique voice it brings back memories when this Came out there was another band they had a lead singer with a unique voice life Of agony damn starting to bring back all the old band now LOL
Type O Negative opened for Ozzy Osborne at South Park Meadows in Austin TX in May 4, 96. Peter Steele was a giant on stage when he sang this song, I witnessed an entire crowd of heavy metal rockers melt.
There are many versions of it. The original was by Seals & Crofts, who wrote it. The Isley Brothers covered it, in addition to Type O, and a number of other artists over the years.
This band helped me through some low points in my life, especially losing close friends, the death of my grandmother, grandfather before her...years later my two month old nephew, my aunts, uncle last year. Life goes on, the heart bears the scars of those you are close to and you can never forget....
When an artist can take a song and make it their own 😮…loved the original Seals/Croft version. However this is mind blowing they slowed it down to match that incredible voice! Wow just wow !!!
I remember when this first came out they played it on the radio and I didn't know who the hell it was because I didn't see the movie yet and all I could think was how killer this song is and I was like halfway through it I recognize that it was a remake and that a record company signed count Dracula!!!! Song still gives me goosebumps,, rest in peace Peter.
I remember buying October Rust used at a local music store when I was about 16-17 in 2000-2001. And wanting Bloody Kisses. Cant remember if I ever got Bloody Kisses but thats why I love TH-cam so much. Love You To Death is my favorite Type O song.
I've listened to Bloody Kisses so many times, it practically lived in my CD player in my car and only after like the 50th time did I realize this was a cover. Eventually I started hearing the riff and it reminded me of something else so I plugged it into Google and was floored when I heard the original. They added their own signature sauce it barely resembles the original aside from the main hook/riff and the lyrics. Type O forever! RIP Pete Steele, what a legend.
I just discovered this song. Never heard it before until I heard it on a rock station, then never heard it again. Damn Peter Steele...that voice...kinda creepy and seductive at the same time. It's a shame that he's no longer with us. Definitely woulda been a fan.
Because not all people like this genre of this music, like everyone is cool with pop. Okay summer breeze is one of type o negatives more acceptable songs by all (like the young and the old) but like if u look at Christin woman or I don't wanna be me. Let's just say those aren't so radio like. Even summar breeze. I can't really explain but y'all get what I mean
Pete Steele was a an original. Carnivore to Type O. He always put on a good show he will be missed. He actually hit me with his Monte Carlo back 1985 on Gravesend road in Brooklyn. It was my fault cause I ran the light on a bicycle. He was freaked out and pissed because my ass broke his windshield. But we shook hands and went on our way. He was the garbage man in my neighborhood back in the day too. RIP Pete.
I was born in 77 and was named Jasmine bcs of the original Seals/Croft version. We started watching ILWYDLS and the intro had me trippin cus Ive nvr heard this version ❤
This is an odd one. I seem to like both equally. There's a certain timeless quality to the original, with that really cool toy piano (or whatever it is) in it, but this is one to just chill to.
He is one tru musician who knew how too scare the shit outta someone just play diz song on any given nite dat is so cold & the nite winds r howling........
I used to have the IKWYDLS soundtrack. I've been strangely nostalgic for the movie lately...curious to see if it has held up. I know it was just sort of riding the coattails of Scream back in the day, but I thought it was enjoyable.
Wasn't anything like the first one but was kind of crazy and a few people commited suicide or killed their friends I saw it in theater with a gf tho I've never been a Horror fan I remember the best part of the movie was this song, opening with aerial shot of swamps or something
My Buddy and myself cannot declare "IT'S SUMMER" till we play this song on his 20 Billion watt speakers and soon as the cops show up we pay the fine and Summer begins for us. Been doing it since this album came out, cops show up before we even play the song now... But tradition is tradition.
I wish I was making this story up. We paid alot of $$$... I always pay half of the ticket and my buddy paid the rest. We inform his neighbors that we're going to kick off summer and they are OK with it. After almost 20 years they are used to it. I did embellish on the 20 Billion watt speakers though... They are only 20 Million watt speakers. :)
I had the ‘I know what you did last summer’ soundtrack album, and this was one of the songs on it ❤ I bought it because of this song when I watched the movie when it came out all those years ago!
my best friend in highschool introduced me to TON - her name was Jasmine and she was nuts about Peter (what girl isn't). she thought this song was about her, even though it's a cover, lol.
This is the song I would be singing if I was dying a burning inferno type death, or Shot and froze to death by liquid nitrogen. Simply amazing vocal style.
Hello Guys and Girls... been a big Type O Negative since the early 90s. Love to read all the comments from Goth wannabes late 90s onwards. Never heard of the The Cure? Goths have been around for a very very long time and Pete and the band was just a very small part. No need to argue and fight over such things. Just glory in living at a time when so many creative musicians are around and allowed to express themselves.
i had the playgirl he was in. very dark, sexy stuff. i see that layout when i listen to this. its...so...deep! not black, but charcoal gray and burgundy and soft creamy white.
Jasmine Kintop Cool! This metal version or the nicer one from Seals and Crofts? Did your dad get the name from either-or? Just curious. Both versions are cool for different reasons. You're blessed with the best name I think! Beats being called Tulip. As in Tiptoe through the... yknow....!
Jim Seals ( of Seals and Crofts), one of the writers of this song died on June 7, 2022. He was 80. Had Peter been alive, this news would have made him sad. Yup, Everything Dies. :'(
The only thing guaranteed to everyone is death.
I remember hearing this song for the first time on the opening of I Know What You Did Last Summer.
one of the best opening's to movie ever! you could hear the waves crashing as well with the song and that was so awesome!
+gokusondbz Funnily enough in an interview Pete said he never even bothered to watch the movie
just gonna say that
Remember seeing the movie and being pleasantly surprised

She's in love with her self
They were truly one of a kind. You could hear them on the radio, MTV or your favorite smoke filled dive bar. Perennial band if there ever was.
I know what you mean. It takes me to another place,
I agree such a unique voice it brings back memories when this Came out there was another band they had a lead singer with a unique voice life Of agony damn starting to bring back all the old band now LOL

Must have been amazing. Experiences like those at concerts happen I know that I'm having what I would call a religious experience.
OpnDoarPlcy Me too friend, been having it since 2001 and the result is: I missed Pete's death. Didn't find out till August 2016.
steele Pete How did feel when you found out he was dead?
steele Pete the Helsinki vampires are brilliant you have great taste in music
EVERYONE melts yes..
This band meant a great deal to me.. timeless sonic therapy.
Meant as in past tense?
@@TheIndependentLens should've been means
I remember this version back in the 90's. So different from the original version but musically creative!
Seals & Crofts did the original.
@@Hellwyck Original has that folk hippie sound and melody.
This was the first song I ever heard by Type O Negative. I think his voice is one of the best and most underrated of all time.
Seen them twice in the 90s and, as a rocker they were awesome!!!!!!!!!! Pete is sadly missed😢
This rendition is brilliant. I luv the smoothness and flow. Peter has/ had a haunting voice, captivating. He was most Bella
So calm, yet so powerful.
I'm a fan of both versions of this song. Type O & Isley bros. Classics.
There are many versions of it. The original was by Seals & Crofts, who wrote it. The Isley Brothers covered it, in addition to Type O, and a number of other artists over the years.

Music kinda does that... Aye? Condolences.... Even two years later. I hope you are doing well, and still listening to this song....
Love and Light...
Best opening song to a movie EVER!! #iKnowWhatYouDidLastSummer
Type O covers are the best covers!

Chill song to just smoke one outdoors.
+ryukdluffy

I need to blaze up in the outdoors. Stress relief.
Smoking outdoors is always a good time.
good song for smoking indoors too D:
Doing that right now, and I didn't even know I needed to hear this until it started playing.
Love this cover tune of seals n Croft

One of the best covers by anybody ever
The guitar tone is killer 🎸
Agreed!
You should be able to replicate it with a Boss metal zone pedal.
so much nostalgia, smoking a bunch of weed and walking around my neighborhood listening to this on a cd player as a young teen.
walking around town with a cd player as a young teen. now that brought back some extra memories.
This sounds nothing like the original. This is an awsome cover R.I.P PETER STEELE
reminds me of a time in life ...I miss... *crying* Peter ,we have lost so much in losing you...

love this song ... i could listen to it all summer long ...
I can't believe I just realized this is a cover. Holy crap TON did an excellent job at the cover
Can't get enough of it
It is so heavy, slow and erotic.
Back then loved punk, metal, goth, and oi. This somehow combined it all. Great band. Will never be done again.
Wish I knew a lot more about Type O Negative when peter steele was alive. Why isn't Type o Negative not played more on the radio
big bad papa bear i met peter back in 2001 they did a usa tour and did a awesome show here in hollywood cali, they played this song!
Call your local college station. They'll play Type O
They are to cool for that shit ! 😎

I know it's not as skilled of a version. I like the contrast between the happiness of the lyrics and the slow depressing sludge of type o.
