Went on a date with a girl that said she can help me reverse a curse that’s been on me for the last 6-7 years. We got coffee, drove to the beach, lit 2 candles, did the ritual, she lit this incense that struck my brain, it was a good night. Now This song will forever hold the memory of that night.
Most people say metal peaked in the 80s with early metalica but I argue 90s metal like SOAD, pantera, death, necrophagist, type O negative was the real artistic peak of this genera

@@Emjayyyy.y I know you mean because there's bands that already fell apart before I discovered them too. It's awesome your pops loved them enough to share it with you though. There's nobody like them anymore period
I first heard Type O in the mid 90s when they toured with Queensryche, I was like 14. My mom and I weaseled our way backstage to meet the band (Queensryche) and I saw Type O hanging out nearby. She motioned toward them and said "don't go over there, they're creepy as hell." There was a legit aura around them, I wouldn't call it creepy but it was definitely unsettling in a fascinating way to teenage me. Loved them ever since and regret not making a break for it to meet the man, the legend Peter Steele. At least I can say that we once breathed the same air.
I'll never forget being like 15 years old and a guy from my school playing this song and telling me "Every time I hear this song it makes me think of you" and everybody agreed. At first I was a bit offended, but then it grew on me, and now I'm very satisfied that 10 years ago I apparently embodied the essence of this song :)
The little touches in the song, the munsters little sample in there, the Addams family clicking fingers sample. In the longer version Peter says ‘sacre bleu ‘ at one point which I am sure is a reference to Morticia Addams. The whole thing is brilliant and perhaps my favourite Type O song which is saying something as a lot of the others are also brilliant.
I’ve lost everyone in my life. And within my tragedy and darkness, I still try to live life to the fullest and play thunderous heavy music for hundreds of people at a time. Thank you Peter Steele for the inspiration and reminding me I was born to fuckin rock and live life to the fullest. Will kiss you soon Peter, my eternal Black number one. 🖤

No kidding. And he makes it look easy. Steele was HUGE. 6'7" or 6'8"... Unprompted story: Years ago I met and hung out with a gal who was a groupie of his (she did have a few old photos to prove it). She was out of that life by the time I met her, but when she told me my jaw dropped. I was 5'2" and 98lbs at the time, and this gal was *my size* or smaller. She said she didn't remember much from that period of her life, and I realized she was either telling the truth OR it was her way of saying "I don't want to talk about it" without actually saying it. I had questions but I kept them to myself. Sweet gal, with a wild life-story.
He was so passionate with his music, I wish more people knew who they were, I barely ever hear them being talked about surprisingly :/ Rest in peace good man!

Happy Halloween!!! RIP Peter
A friend of mine and I went all over Japan in early 90's so he could buy the CD just for this specific song. Yes, we found it, yes in English, and yes I was in awe from the moment we listened to about 953 times on the drive back to the Air Base. He was military, I was there with my parents. I still love those days.
I remember when I was admitted into hospital,
I was around 13, this was way before streaming services. I had a cd player and the only two albums I had with me were October Rust and Bloody Kisses, pretty sure it was Peter Steele’s voice that healed me 😂
You may be right
This song should be the anthem for October.

Went on a date with a girl that said she can help me reverse a curse that’s been on me for the last 6-7 years. We got coffee, drove to the beach, lit 2 candles, did the ritual, she lit this incense that struck my brain, it was a good night. Now This song will forever hold the memory of that night.
Did it work though???

We will never get music like this anymore....The golden age of metal!
Here!Here!
These were the good days
Sad but true.
Most people say metal peaked in the 80s with early metalica but I argue 90s metal like SOAD, pantera, death, necrophagist, type O negative was the real artistic peak of this genera

Only the late, great Peter Steele could write a parody of Goth Rock for it to become a Goth anthem!
Love Type O Negative forever!
I saw them a few times in my 20s when they were opening for Metallica. This song hooked me and I find myself singing it to myself quite a bit even now!
Saw them at Roseland Ballroom a few times during their Bloody Kisses tour including the infamous Halloween show which ended the band known as White Zombie.
I remember them with Pantera, same feeling as you. I miss them but treasure the memories..
I commented this video some time back but I wanted to tell you how I was 19 in 1995 when I saw them open for Metallica too. It was at freedom hall. We are lucky to have seen these guys man. Very lucky

Sounds like Tom Macdonald

True
The little touches in the song, the munsters little sample in there, the Addams family clicking fingers sample. In the longer version Peter says ‘sacre bleu ‘ at one point which I am sure is a reference to Morticia Addams. The whole thing is brilliant and perhaps my favourite Type O song which is saying something as a lot of the others are also brilliant.

Only Peter Steele could get away with playing an upright bass like an electric bass guitar.
Les Claypool...
@@GBrimstone Correct me if I'm wrong, but Les hasn't ever actually picked the thing up and held it like a regular bass, has he? I mean, I'm sure he has but not in any kind of public performance or music video.
@@captainpantaloons yea that was my bad. Kept imagining he did but watched a few videos and I was wrong
Les Claypool isn't like 8 feet tall.
Peter is playing an upright bass like a normal one lol. I love that they didn’t take themselves too seriously
