c/r was way to high for 20 psi boost, 8:1 better ratio, use a 268*/260* cam, 42lb injectors, 3.5bar fpr, stock aba bottom end will hold to 300hp with that setup, been running like that for a year now, pulling the motor for new crank, rods and piston, going to run nos next.
greetings from brazil, i have the same motor on my car here, a Vw Gol. and its turbo too, around a 400hp.... this motor, here is called "AP" aka alta performance, (high performance in inglish). and are any common, They were launched in several models of cars, and the most common motor here from vw. but we have 1.6,1.8,2.0 liters from factory.
hey my friend i'm an Australian living in Argentina and i also have a VW Gol 1.6 AP fully restored from pistons to wheel hubs to clutch to exhaust all new, i've spent an arm and a leg on it and love it great car. but the engine in the video isn't 'vw ap' its similar but the displacement of alot of things are different.
wow awesome hp for this simple engine! It's hard to make a simple turbo build for this engine but with the non crosflow european head and get reliable 160-200hp and same fuel consumption as stock when cruising? I heard you can use the TDI exhaust and turbo + g60 inyector and piggyback/stand alone to do this.
the CR is still the same thing regardless the size for the engine. since the cyliner is bigger on the 2.1l it also takes in more fuel and air. I could have a huge V8 with 10:1 ratio and if the block walls are not thicker than on your engine it would also blow up. Change pistons or space the head.
Hey man i have a 2002 2.0 8v and im pretty much gonna be doing a rebuild also but im gonna get the piston walls hored so i can fit a bigger piston in there and all performance rods bearing cam shaft etc. Im prolly gonna do the block dark blue cause im goin with a black and blue color with the car. Ill keep u posted thinkin of doin a youtube channel as well lol
So how long did it take you to rebuilt the whole motor? I'm leaning toward a rebuilt of my Jetta (AEG) but I'm trying to figure out the timeline and cost to do so...
Mr Fab0330 please any video of the car performance ( showing instruments while power drag run) or maybe drag racing with a vw vr6 i have a 2E engine with k jetronic system and its giving good performance (much better than its stock electronic injection system with more intimidating engine noises ) also what gearbox you are using ? thanks and i wish you guys reply with good tips and maybe in future i ll show you my car frying out street braggers like a toast .
yes i order a lot of parts on autopartsway.ca but this is just for stok parts you need if you want to put much power buy after market parts like JE pistron or CX racing a good rebuild kit for 200$ on autopartsway.
why did you choose the 8v head over an ABF conversion? or a 16v had swap? I would rather have a ABA to ABF conversion or 16v turbo Audi head and turbo. That's a nice build though, I wish I had the tools and resources to build a engine setup I want
Man i am also from Montréal. And i have a mk4 jetta 2.0L 8V. How much it cost you to rebuild this engine and custom it with performance parts? And also where are you buying the parts?
On any 2.0 stock short block, anything under 250 is safe zone on stock rods and pistons. 250 is accomplishable on a small 1.8t ko4/5 kit set up on it, spa turbo manifold, c2 tuning on stock ecu, injectors and other accessory mods and camshaft for boost Obd1 ABA block has oil squirters and forged crank as well as high flowing head so in America if you get these it's easy to boost and make decent Street able power. Most don't understand what double OEM power feels like and end up chasing a numbers game until things blow. An obd1 abat will easily run down stock cars down to base WRX. Issue ends up being the 020 trans dies around that power from wheel spin. Then a limited slip diff is needed. They still can blow the diff or clutch finger or PP so getting an o2a/j transmission to swap gets you a bit more low end. Will need a final drive swap though unless you get a eurovan trans that has taller gear set for highway speed. I could go on and on bust best street setup under 10k Is obd1 abat stage 2 intercooled, c2 chip, g60 or greater camshaft, o2a/j swap, ungraded mounts, LSD, catch can setup, mk4 vc and manifold or Sri intake, K04/5 turbo upgrade from 1.8t kit, use all parts for boost setup improving where needed, the spa manifold to make 1.8t setup a bolt on affair. The 1.8t looks like a baby after a good ABA build and has a much wider power band. Will easily gap stock 1.8t and vr6 motors till about AWD or 3.2-3.6 motors. Issue with setup is due to lack of grip. Even if you manage grip, must be easy as axles are known to break far easier unless custom made
you need to know exactly what you need the best parts i use are from JE pistion CX racing for connecting rods on ebay it's esay to find and your turbo me it's garrett GT30 but full custum
you need 8:1 with 20 psi boost!! duh thats why your block cracked also with all the forced air the cylinder area needs to be bigger to combust the more fuel dude.... derp! it was a graet build just the wrong mix :(
I'm trying to find out how to turn Ann ABA 8v into an ABF engine. In America we have to substitute the head and something with the timing belt. But it drops the compression so low to 8:1 for an n/a car that's pointless unless your boosting it which is still really low
yes i order a lot of parts on autopartsway.ca but this is just for stok parts you need if you want to put much power buy after market parts like JE pistron or CX racing a good rebuild kit for 200$ on autopartsway.
If you talking about any junkyard 5.3 or ls3, you'll hit more power and cheaper than any 4 cyl engine, especially 4 cyl germans because those are more delicate than Japanese 4 cyl. but aye, money is just the key :)
297hp from my abat @wastegate spring yielding 16.4psi. Nice build man!
c/r was way to high for 20 psi boost, 8:1 better ratio, use a 268*/260* cam, 42lb injectors, 3.5bar fpr, stock aba bottom end will hold to 300hp with that setup, been running like that for a year now, pulling the motor for new crank, rods and piston, going to run nos next.
Over here seeing your new pistons makes me itch to get my new forged pistons for mine
Absolutely gorgeous! Very jealous! So want to do this to my 2.0
Good save, that timing belt was about to pop
This gave me a boost to get my agg engine built in the mk2 shell
Excelente trabajo hombre yo tengo un 2.0 AZJ 8v identico probablemente lo hare proyecto
16v pistons with an 8v?
if head is bigger than it works but i know what you mean anubis
Nice build. Like to see the engine instalment and running.

that engine is AGG
@@tommy2059 hey man, got any photos?
People underestimates the 2.0L 8V!! They dont understand that the original GTI had the 2.0L 8V!!!!!
original GTI as in MK1? ik had the 1.8 DX
mkI was 1.6 here in Europe.
according to wikipedia there was a 1.6 and a 1.8 GTI
correct! There were two GTI engines. First with 1.6L 110 hp and second (also newer generation) with 1.8L 112 hp
No GTI had a 2.0 8V.
awesome video do you have list of parts
wow awesome hp for this simple engine!

What's up my friend, sorry for the cranks you used, will you have the link or are the 1.8t cranks compatible for that 2.0l engine
send me the link please
New engin finish!!! video next day!!!!! be ready!!
fab0330 where is the video ?
how much would you charge for a rebuild i got a 2.0 8V
the best engine ever made man ,, in brazil on street racing more 800hp in litle vw
THX!! new video
!

damn surprising that little lunchbox makes that much power. how much was everything all together?
Beautiful!
Great work. :D
Why 10:1 c.r. with turbo? Most people go 9:1 or 8:1. For more low end? Nice build btw, absolutely beautiful!!
Beautiful Rebuild!
Thank's buddy!
Incroyable ta vidéo ou à tu trouver toutes les pièce ?
J’arrive pas à en trouver moi
J’aimerais lui donner un peut plus de cv

thx
Que gran trabajo felicidades!
gracias!!!!! ( waldemar! it's with the turbo that it give 350 hp at 23-24)

Hi can't you post a list of your recipe ?
Bro donde conseguiste el cigueñal también lo modificaron?
What is the type of engine? ABA?

The brass of the torn bearings on the cover is in which bearing?
Can the engine block handle the power?
I need to build a 1.8 for my rally car, any suggestions?
No not yet because the engine block crack it was to powerfull i realy think it was 340-350hp at 20psi so need a new engine block and go on dyno!
Thx fab ill check it out
Man i am also from Montréal. And i have a mk4 jetta 2.0L 8V. How much it cost you to rebuild this engine and custom it with performance parts? And also where are you buying the parts?
Where did you order your rebuild kit from I'm looking for a good 16v rebuild kit can't you help me?
This is stock crankshaft?
Excuse sir can i ask you a question?
Link to turbo ?
How much hp.can you get out of this 2.0 motor?oh and drive it every day car.

Hi, how come you used 16v pistons on an 8v? What compression ration were you running please?
10-1
fab0330 were i can buy a good turbo kit for 98 netta 2.0
yes 10:1 because it is a 2.1l not 2.0l just for the ratio... thank's
you need 8:1 with 20 psi boost!! duh thats why your block cracked also with all the forced air the cylinder area needs to be bigger to combust the more fuel dude....
derp! it was a graet build just the wrong mix :(
Drop the music sound track !!!
With blue color min 450hp
Der Schenns could you drive that car every day?
350 hp??? why not 500 ???
How 500
Can*
what a waste of time when you video If I want to hear music I listen to the radio
May day your comment is useless. Grow up
+fab0330 you can't stand the truth don't make videos if you can't stand criticism. you need to grow up you loser
Crap music, fits the lousy slideshow.
Try again Canuk!!
Tru dat
8v's are garbage, abf and the good ol vr is life

350 hp??? why not 500 ???
pancho villa It's a 4 cyl... It's hard and expensive to hit 500 hp. That's why people get V8s
@Jorge Pulido Nope it's not. Forged internals might cost a lot along with labor but doing it yourself you save more than half of the expense.
If you talking about any junkyard 5.3 or ls3, you'll hit more power and cheaper than any 4 cyl engine, especially 4 cyl germans because those are more delicate than Japanese 4 cyl. but aye, money is just the key :)
@Jorge Pulido If you buy Forged internals for the ls you will pay more than the turbo kit for the k series engine.
Viewing But is has more power stock to stock tho... and 5.3 can hold up more than 1000 hp
